This range is in a very beautiful location. It is easily accessible and the parking is nice and spacious. I came in today, Saturday (6/22/24) right around 4:30PM. After a long day of work it was the highlight of the day to come in and shoot. While checking in, we reviewed the information white board at the front counter in the clubhouse to confirm availability of the fields; it said that a couple skeet fields were closed. No big deal! After we checked in we headed to the walkthrough. We got to the first station and noticed the card reader said "free to play" or "free play" which is unusual. My sister-in-law called the clubhouse to inform them that the field had not been set back to normal operation and asked if they could send someone over to fix it so we can shoot. A young man by the name Lucas pulled up and told us that the walkthrough was closed and that they were prepping it for a competition on the following day. No problem! We asked if 5 stand was open and he said yes so we made our way there. I placed my card on the reader and loaded 50 targets. My sister-in-law got ready to shoot and I noticed no clays were being thrown, however the reader was counting down. Lucas then pulls up and we let him know that the reader is counting down and the trap is loaded with birds but it isn't throwing them. He proceeds to say "Why the f*** would you load 50 targets if it's not working?" This caught me off guard, considering he treated us as if we were stupid! Now, had I known the station wasn't working I would have not placed 50 targets to shoot; that's common sense. We asked him if there was another field available and he told us "No, we haven't loaded the other machines and we're not going to since we're super busy." I can understand setting up for a competition and being busy, but what could have been done was at least load a trap field so we could shoot, but instead he blew us off and left. As a paying member at this range, this really irritated me. We came in to shoot, not to be blown off by some young punk. We packed up our stuff and I headed back to the clubhouse to have my card reloaded with targets that were used. I was refunded and my sister-in-law and I left. For a pricey ANNUAL membership this is very unprofessional treatment. Not one staff member loaded a machine for us to shoot or offered a solution by pointing us to a field that was available. The fact that we are paying customers (just like everyone else who has a membership here), we should not be treated with such disrespect let alone as if we are stupid by some punk kid who uses inappropriate language in conversation. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together should know to show respect to paying customers since they contribute a portion to the staff's paycheck and their place of employment- especially when they are simply (and respectfully) exercising their favorite recreational activity. Additionally, Lucas shows no regard to his family who are big contributors to this club and have been for many years.
From what I've heard from other staff and members at this range, this isn't the first hiccup with Lucas. Hopefully management will do more this time around (instead of putting him on suspension AGAIN). BRSP must know that they are people's only choice for a private shooting range but with that being said, please demand better of your staff for the sake of your members who support you year after year. read more
