The first review saddens me. I would like to apologize to the brother. You are justified. I am…read morepersonally very sorry. Please inbox me and I can direct you to Muslims who can help. My dad sits over the board at the Tuscaloosa mosque. He taught me to never question a person in need. The reward is always given to the person who gives so there should have never been any questions. In addition, if he is talking about the school in Homewood IAA, he is right. I worked there for a year and it was truly awful in every way. It is an Arab cultural school and not an Islamic school. BIS should really purge the staff especially the principal and vice principal. Working there was the biggest mistake of my life. I was treated so disrespectfully there from everyone including staff and students. My dad forced me to quit because I was so depressed at how chaotic and undisciplined they are there. But this was in 2014-2015, almost 10 years ago. The people and students at IAA are very judgmental, racist, arrogant and rude. They are backwards to an uncanny degree. Super materialistic and obsessed with fancy cars, physical appearances and designer labels as well. Poor permissive parenting at its finest. Lots of unchecked behavior issues. But I learned a lot there. I don't recommend any Muslim family send their children to IAA. And for the love of Allah, never accept a job there. You will be underpaid and asked to teach multiple grade levels and you will cry every day like I did. You will be made to feel like a bad Muslim. You will be judged by every word and they will never take accountability for their mishandlings or for being wrong. Everything will be your fault. Truly the worst examples of Muslims I've ever encountered. Avoid. This is not geebah on my brothers and sisters or backbiting as we are allowed to discuss matters of business. Do not do business with IAA. But the weekend school and community at Hoover Crescent are decent. Hoover is constantly shifting. It is not stationary like the school in Homewood. My nephews attend the weekend school and it is very diverse. Most mosques change leadership every few years. This term's leaders have really focused on the youth. Although, I wish they had more programs for elder millennials like myself. The location is great. Parking is ample. Ramadan is mostly organized and the volunteers and staff are incredibly hard working and devoted at Hoover Crescent. Ramadan dinner is free and open to the public if anyone is interested in Islam. Don't judge the rest of us by the mess of IAA, the "Islamic" school in Homewood. Most of us are non affiliated with that place. Salam

Alhamdulillah I cannot thank Allah SWT enough for blessing us with a beautiful masjid like this one…read morein the heart of Hoover right off of 65 and near 459! They frequently hold family nights & lectures. Alhamdulillah there's plenty of parking, they hold Eid parties every Eid, they serve free iftar every Ramadan (everyone is welcome), and the sheikh, board, and faculty are amazing!

The families who keep this place running are extremely efficient and dedicated. It is mostly clean…read moreand spacious. There are more parking spots now which makes things easier. But some still drive recklessly here so monitor your children. They have two Jummahs. Check their website bisweb.org to find the prayer times. It is well secured with many cameras and Hoover police monitors it regularly. I think they have an onsite manager/secretary during daylight hours but I'm not sure. They do everything on time here, so be on time! There are many classes, family events and nightly iftaars and prayers during Ramadan. Ramadan iftaars are outside in tents, one for women and one for men. They use reusable plates, provide jugs of water and dates on the table. Once Maghreb is over you can wait in line for a humble but delicious meal of meat, rice and salad. Be patient, sometimes people get pushy and save seats which can be annoying. Just remain calm. Sometimes they have dessert. It is free and hot so there is no reason to complain. It is mostly meant to get you through prayer, so don't expect seconds or huge portions. 250-500 people show up every night for 30 nights. The volunteers help serve and clean they do an amazing job and work hard so don't treat them like your servants. Please remind your children to respect the masjid, attendees and other people's personal property. It is family friendly but you must also be friendly and respectful in return. The Imam here is kind and moderate. The congregation is very diverse. From what I know it is easy to plan a nikkah and have your child's akika here. They also make janazas as pleasant and efficient as possible. Be sure to communicate well and ask many questions ahead of time and don't have lofty expectations. Some of the attendees are not particularly nice (could be a cultural misunderstanding at times, over 75 nationalities represented) but there many more who are kind and try their best to treat others with compassion and understanding. The ones who treat people kindly are the ones who attend on a regular basis and have dedicated their lives to keep things running. The have a great email list serve and they keep people up to date with weekly announcements. There are equal spaces for men and women, and a space for women who want to attend with babies. They do however need to wash the carpet in the infant room and maybe do something to help with the smell in there. I like that there isn't a partition so women can hear the Khatib well. When there are speaking events here women are given equal access to speakers and educators. They are no monthly dues here, but families are encouraged to donate whenever they can. They have operations dinners from time to time but you can always donate on their website.
