I can tell you what Graces look Like . They are like 'Lighting Rods". As your prayers leave your mouth and form these 'Light Rods" they fly through the air and into the figures or statues you are praying in front of. Sometime the image is present and collects the graces and takes them and distributes them in other parts of the world. Sometimes the image is present and other times the graces dissolves into the image. The next day, after I asked several people if they saw anything and got no answers. A couple ran up to me and said "Frank, Frank, She is just as you said she was! She's just as you said She was! I trust and hope that you too can walk around knowing that your prayers have been heard and are helping others.

Unlike other pilgrimages, they removed commercialism and focused on prayer, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Mass, and nature. We fasted on Friday and ate very healthy meals at the hotel. The hotel room has no TV, and they highly discourage cell phone use. The only fast I participated in as a Catholic was abstaining from meat on Fridays and Ash Wednesday, which is not a real sacrifice. I'm glad I participated in a sacrifice that cost me something, and the one-day fasting of bread and water during the eight-day pilgrimage did. Although I don't know enough about the organization to make a judgment and have not spiritually ascended to the frequent messages, I remain open to any graces God may grant towards belief. The pilgrimage has drawn me closer to our Lord and Mary and helped me to focus more on my spiritual needs over physical and material desires. If you want a pilgrimage that challenges your spirituality and focuses on what is above, this one may be for you. God Bless!

The Episcopal Church of the Ascension was chartered in 1953 as a "self-organized" mission station…read morethat met in the Vestavia Hills Town Hall, in homes and schools under the guidance of Bishops Carpenter and Murray. Bishop Furman Stough [who blessed my confirmation] dedicated the church where it is currently located in 1986. This location is also home to the Ascension Episcopal Day School. Father Jack Alvey became Rector in 2018. I had seen Fr. Alvey at our Diocesan Council weekend in Nauvoo, AL and at the last Alabama Bishop's election at the Cathedral Church of the Advent. Both events were attended by 100s and I did not get to speak to Fr. Alvey. In 2019, Father Alvey baptized my three Godchildren, my stepdaughter and her two babies! Father Jack opened the church on this beautiful fall Saturday, and was such a wonderful, thoughtful host, as he performed the baptisms flawlessly at the beautiful alter, without anyone shedding a tear (and the grandchildren were little at the time) except for me -- tears of joy! Father Jack answered our questions about the church and showed us around. Despite the quality of my pictures, it really is a beautiful church with a massive organ, and a lovely nave. The Memorial Garden is lovely and serves as a "columbarium" of sorts, where members' ashes can be sprinkled and the departed can be memorialized with their information on a plaque. On the anniversary of their baptisms, I purchased arrangements for the alter to honor their baptisms and each year I did this, the arrangements were lovely and the transactions were seamless.
