The lodge itself houses a lovely al la carte restaurant and a tavern that offers great classic pub meals and live music on Wednesday evenings (courtesy of the local ranger!). The cabins are cosy and either have a wood fire or imitation wood gas heater. All of the staff are lovely amd the pademelons and wombats that frequent the grounds are happy for a chat too! Plenty of walks to do in the local area or spend some time in the spa for some pampering! Phone and internet coverage are non existent however you can purchase a code to access the wi-fi.

Cradle Mountain Lodge is set on the northern edge of the World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain/Lake St. Clair National Park in north western Tasmania. At Cradle Mountain Lodge, guest cabins are dotted amongst tree-lined ranges and overlook grassy folds. Wallabies and wombats pausing between mouthfuls of buttongrass and possums posing gracefully as they criss-cross timber boardwalks are some of the magical sights that await as you make your way along the well-lit trails and boardwalks. Your private timber cabin is set discreetly in the wilderness and each cabin offers soothing natural views whether it be of the Lodge Lake, the Pencil Pine River or into the surrounding native myrtle forests. The best way to appreciate the World Heritage Listed environment at Cradle Mountain is by taking a scenic walk. For guests of Cradle Mountain Lodge, it is not necessary to venture into the National Park to experience the best of Tasmania's wilderness, as we have a host of great walks with spectacular scenery that leave directly from the Lodge grounds. These walks are suitable for a wide range of fitness levels and weather conditions. Around the Lodge, there are more than 20 walking trails to suit every fitness level. We initially came to Peppers lodge very excited to explore the Australian wilderness. However, we…read morewere left with only disappointment regarding the terrible service and extremely rude staff. First, we went to the Tavern to eat lunch and whilst our group ordered first, the food came last (the food of most of the other guests in the restaurant came first). When we asked the staff about it, they refused to help or even apologize. It took over one hour for the food to come, and when it arrived everything was cold, soggy or overcooked. Perhaps If you want a medium rare steak cooked well done for 40 dollars served alongside rude staff, then this is the place for you. When we spoke with Shane, the manager, he only defended himself and refused to apologize or even acknowledge their wrongdoings. The next day, my 85 year old mother in law was left to wait outside in the cold for almost 20 minutes at 630 AM because the staff refused to allow us into the lobby to check out. The staff of Peppers lodge have no compassion or care for their customers, this is by far the worst service we have ever encountered for a hotel, it is not even worth 1 star.

The lodge itself looks rustic but it is very modern with Wi-Fi and all amenities; however, there is no Wi-Fi at the cabins you stay in nor is there any TV. So if you need this type of technology, probably not the best bet for you. With bonuses such as hot chocolate kits with marshmallows and other wonderful things like a wood fireplace? This place is heaven. I will say it is the one place on the planet where you can sit on your deck and see pademelons, wombats, possums, and other wildlife walk right past your door. Rooms include a very lavish breakfast. The restaurant's okay at best. It's kind of mediocre but they try very hard and that makes a difference. You can do a variety of very lovely walks to waterfalls and other features without getting a pass into the national reserve. Or you can get a pass and go in and do other more extensive hikes.
