Wow, out of all the restaurants I visited in Québec City this one was my favorite. I loved everything about this place. I loved the modern interior design. I loved the huge counter top. I loved the service. I loved the huge windows letting in the bright sunlight. And maybe most importantly I loved the food. No doubt the maitre d' could tell I was a weary tourist, yet he made me feel very welcomed and kindly translated the menu items on the blackboard for me. For lunch I picked the most exotic sounding dish: "feuilleté coeur de porcelet & ris de veau". That's chopped young piglet heart served over a puffed pastry. That's right and believe it or not that meal was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. So three cheers for piglet heart. No part of any pig should go to waste, right? Oh and I highly recommend sitting at the counter. The counter surrounds the entire kitchen. If you're like me, you'll probably find it fun to watch the chefs while they work. By the way, if you're looking to kill some time on Avenue Cartier, check out the indoor market across the street in the red brick building. There, you will find small individual booths of people selling candy, cheese, meats, and breads.

After reading about the restaurant as one of the hottest eatery in town, I decided to make a reservation for dinner on our last day in Quebec CIty. Maybe I went in with too much expectations, this turned out to be just another trendy place that serves mediocre food. The bistro is a bit far from the touristy Old City, so the crowd was mostly trendy locals or foodies like me who have read about raving reviews somewhere. The ambiance was nice with an open kitchen. the drink menu was served on an iPad while the food menu was written on a chalkboard in French. After the waitress patiently translated the entire menu to me in English, I realized the selections reflected nothing more than a typical new American menu. I've only tried two entrees off the menu (out of total 5 choices), so I can only speak to what I ate that night. The 75-day aged filet mignon was very well flavored, but it was served slightly too cold. The meat was cooked perfectly to medium rare. Yet the citric sauce served no particular purpose but rather washed away some of the original flavor of the steak. As for the asparagus/mushroom risotto we ordered, there was truly nothing special. The whole plate was overpowered with onions. For a 30-min walk and a $100 tab, I was pretty disappointed with what Bistro B offered. I probably could've found another restaurant more unique right outside of the old city on St. Jean.

A real pleasure to dine here. We had been looking forward to visiting having read about them in a travel review and we weren't going to let a foot of snow get in the way. He food was delicious. We split an order of oysters and a wonderful strip steak. The servers were over the top accommodating.

Great set lunch and open kitchen to see all the action. Love the sauce on the boudin noir. We were the first to walk in at 11:30, by 12PM the place was completely packed. Definitely better than some of the tourist trap bistros. Worth a visit.

Delicious appetizer I could've eaten this all night. To bad I don't remember the name of this dish

Atmosphere was ok. Nothing to really look forward to. Our appetizer was really good but the main course was mediocre at best. Not worth anywhere near what the price point is. To expensive for a mere "nothing spectacular" type of meal. The staff was nice, and friendly but it's more of a place to be seen at as the hip chic place to have a drink but not to have a tasty, out of this world kind of dinner.

Food and service 10/10. Amazing wine list and the menu chafes regularly. I recommend you sit at the bar and watch the magic happen.

You make a separate reservation and then enter through a black door and green curtain. Service is phenomenal. The bartenders and weight staff, as well as manager, all greet and serve you. They are extremely knowledgeable, and I love their forward thinking. They only use local ingredients for their drinks. If it doesn't grow in Canada or Quebec, they do not use it. So they do not use things like citrus. Instead, they come up with other ways to bring the flavor into their cocktails and food. And definitely try some food! We went for the drinks, but the food blew our minds. We got some mixed tapa plates and loved it all- especially the homemade beef jerky. The back patio is so nice during the summer. And the inside is a definite vibe. Can't wait to go back!

That means, no basic ingredients like citrus are used. That's basically telling the bartender they cannot make 99% of cocktails in mind and have to take risks to make something tasty happen. That concept in itself is a recipe to create things that will be genuinely and authentically Canadian. In other words, experimentation at its finest. Opened in 2024 by the team behind Quebec City's only 2 Michelin starred restaurant, Taniere, this is now the spot to be for those in the know. So, how is trial and error going of crafting something genuinely Canadian? Cocktails are superb on both taste and presentation. The food is remarkably plated with extremely high quality ingredients. One lady in lower town took special delight in telling me "sorry, we're all full tonight", while I stood there with numb fingers and a raw red face where hail hit my face moments before. I passed Alphonse many times the last few days but tonight, instead of just passing through, i stopped in to look inside as another customer held open the door waiting for me to enter as he exited. So naturally, I went in. I was afraid they were about to close, but the hostess was welcoming and with a warm smile, showed us to our seats. The food was so good! We ordered the French Onion soup. My kids loved that the bread in the soup was still crunchy and not soggy. The baked Brie was a delicious start of what is to come next. My entree was the low temperature salmon. It was the chef's special (they call it inspiration of the chef). It was a salmon dish that is lukewarm. The salmon was so tender, it melted like butter in my mouth. It was a decent portion too. We got dessert to share- crème brûlée- also good! Ambience is smart casual.

The scallops were cooked perfectly and the risotto had such a great flavor, so creamy. My dad got the burger, which was actually sliced beef brisket but he said the flavors were great and the meat was tender. I and a gin cocktail that also tasted great but can't remember the name The sever was efficient not overly friendly, hence why it only got 4 stars but I'd recommend the food here to anyone.
