Quiet and stylish, they specialize in pasta and Dutch tapas. Because I hate pasta, and wanted an introduction to all things Belgian, I had fun with my tapas plates. My favorite was by far the sardines. Salty, oily goodness. I sat there shoveling the silvery morsels with the toothpicks given as utensils. The dry salami was also exceptional, and the prosciutto was alright, with just a bit too much rubbery fat on the cut. I totally loved the manchego cheese and bread. Like many places in the region, beverages will run you a bit much. 200 ml pop for about 2,20 can add up if you're super thirsty. You also have a considerable amount of local libations at your disposal. Great place for a snack.

Thanks to Eva at Matalote, she recommended we check out Lux for last night of dining in Antwerp. We walked along the river and through a somewhat sketchy neighborhood that included the cities red light district (ladies in the window et al), but finally landed in a truly upscale eatery with one of the best vibes in the city. We arrived a few minutes after 8:00 and found the dining room to be bustling with patrons. Our hostess led us upstairs to our table that allowed a view of both the lower floor and also provided a direct view into the butcher area where we could see full pigs being ripped apart. Hello pork tenderloin! If you are at all squeamish with the sight of hanging animal carcasses, you may want to consider sitting downstairs. But in defense of Lux, no one can deny the freshness of their meat products. Both the food preparation and presentation is top notch. The Chef knows what they are doing and kicks major ass. Everything from the risotto dish to my wife's pork were cooked to perfection and the carpaccio starter was devoured within minutes. Our desserts were AMAZING! Be sure to get the flat apple tart thing. It was one of my all time favorite desserts. So how can a five star dining experience make me so sad? It was here, where the sommelier brought over my all time favorite Belgian beer and it was to be my last. Triple d' Anvers is a locally produced ale, and when I returned back to the US have been searching for it everywhere. But I cannot find it. No where no how. I vow to return to Lux for one last sip of Triple d' Anvers.

This is very deceiving however. The food is excellent. I ordered tacos, which were the regular taco shells but tasted so different and very good. It came with a small, very small salad and a side bowl of chili peppers, along with some taco topping and sour cream. They have a very extensive drinks menu as well as a food menu. The lasagne and spaghetti also looked very interesting, although didn't get to taste them. The place appears to be very popular. Got there early afternoon and most of the tables already had "reserved" signs on them. There is also seating out in front and the weather was nice, so that was full. Overall, a nice comfortable place with waiters who speak English and are very polite and accommodating. Recommended.
