First time in Belgium and I knew I obviously had to get a waffle! A group of us were walking around…read moreand recognized this place from TikTok and decided to try it. The menu consists of their waffle creations and a build-your-own option. We didn't notice until after we ordered that all the waffles are gluten-free, dairy-free, and plant-based. Honestly, if I had knew that before coming here I would have chosen a different waffle place. Service was good and the workers spoke some English. There isn't much space inside to eat your waffles there, but it is clean. All the waffles are prepared freshly right in front of you and served made to order. I will note these are definitely a more expensive option, each waffle is about €10 and they aren't huge. I ended up ordering the Chocolate Lady waffle which included a waffle with dark chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream, cocoa nibs, and roasted buckwheat. Waffles came out about 10 minutes after ordering. While this may seem like a longer wait, there was a large group of us and only one worker making the waffles. The waffles itself were very flaky and not heavy at all. After hearing that they were "diet friendly" waffles, in understood why. Honestly, the waffle didn't have a ton of flavor. The rich chocolate sauce atop with the ice cream saved it in my opinion. While they were lighter than maybe a traditional Belgian waffle, I don't think this is anywhere close to a traditional Belgian waffle. I appreciated the presentation and better ingredients, but I was a little disappointed. I enjoyed my waffle here, but if you are seeking an authentic Belgian waffle, look elsewhere. This is an excellent spot for people with dietary restrictions though. These waffles are also much pricier than ones you'll find in the area and they are not very filling. I loved the presentation, the toppings, and the overall aesthetic of the eatery, but the waffle fell very short. This is, unfortunately, an example of a "TikTok tourist trap" place. The in - town location as well as the decor gave it a wonderfully quaint feel. The service was excellent and the prices were reasonable (in a European context). It was rather busy in this diminutive establishment when we visited but we were able to find a spot for the three of us. Our server attended to us quickly and did a great job taking care of us. She checked up on us at adequate intervals without being intrusive. The menu offered many tempting options from which to choose. My colleagues went for the Specialty Bakery Salad and the Pasta Carbonara. But I am a breakfast fiend and I had not had eggs for breakfast that day. As such, I opted for the Salmon Omelet with brie, mushrooms and onions. There were large strips of brie embedded, which seemed quite unusual. It was terrific and I would recommend it if you try this place. Our meals were capped with excellent coffee. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my experience in this delightful little shop. If you are in central Bergen op Zoom, it is definitely worth a try.

They can also accommodate other allergies for special orders (breads, cakes, etc.). In the past I got a lemon meringue pie to bring to a party and today had a slice of lemon cake. Both were excellent - cake is moist and in my opinion gives no indication of being gluten free. Breads also have a nice texture not found in your typical packaged GF breads. There are also a couple of shelves of packaged gluten free items for sale such as pasta, flour, cookies, etc. Definitely recommend stopping by!!

Loft Der Zoetheid definitely falls into this category. I personally haven't been treated poorly like a few reviewers pointed out. In fact, I've always experienced excellent services here. The owner even gave us complimentary raspberry/strawberry prosecco the last 2 times dined there. Regardless, the reason I gave this place a perfect score is because they do have great dishes. AND they have the best high-tea out of all the places I've visited around the globe. And.... I do travel. This is a must-visit and must-reserved place for high tea if you've never been here and if you love high-teas. Everything is homemade and delicious. The ambience is wonderful. They have books in English and other languages where you can grab a book and enjoy your meal. It's a wonderful location to hang out and take a break. I will be retuning.
