We stayed 4 nights having a light breakfast each morning and had one evening meal on our first night. The restaurant's food is very good and the waitresses were attentive. It is certainly popular as we were lucky to get in despite staying here. We understood there were 2-3 parking spaces for the inn but it turned out that it was not quite right as there was no checking on the vehicles that occupied the parking. For the first two nights we had to park 1km away in P2. Unloading luggage in the street when there is no parking will hold up traffic both ways but it seems this is normal if inconvenient. Our room was clean and because we chose to keep our towels and sheets for the stay we were given $30 discount at the bar ( we didn't use them as the bar was only open with meals) The bed was comfortable but you might need your distance glasses to see the TV which is low tech with few channels. The shower is over a very slippery bath but there is a bar to hold on to. The inn is a short walk with lots of stairs to the shops, bars and chairlifts. read more
A small fancy restaurant (right next to Candlelight lodge). The menu was definitely overpriced but quality of food made up for it. I had the chicken roulade with blue cheese as the main and it was delicious. I love the mash and that helped to cut down the richness of the cheese. I also tried the waffle with ice cream for dessert and it was really good. The waffle was not burnt, and the combination of smooth vanilla ice cream + caramel sauce and warm waffles was a win! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Thredbo village. The service was excellent. Our waitress came to check in on us a couple of times even though it was a full house ! (Do make a reservation to avoid disappointment!) read more

What a cosy but overpriced little Austrian inspired restaurant this is! Everytime I come to Thredbo I descend upon this restaurant because it's probably the best place to eat in this town. I've enjoyed all dining experiences here so far so I do recommend it. The food is well made and delicious, choose the pork belly you cannot go wrong there. That's some fine cooked pig fat, mmhmm. It literally melts in your mouth. The restaurant itself is cramped being as it doubles as a real inn people actually stay at. Make a reservation and you'll experience minimum waiting time. If you do get a chance to eat here during the day and it's "not that cold", take the outside seating. There are nice views of the snowfield. Although I've never seen anyone brave enough to endure the cold throughout an entire sitting. Because of how busy it gets, it does tend to get incredibly loud and you may find yourself unwillingly drawn into your neighbour's conversations. The service is not as attentive as one would hope but when you can get their attention they will at least take the order correctly. Make sure to book ahead if you're planning on popping in on the busy nights. All in all this restaurant is probably my first choice in all of the dining Thredbo has to offer. read more

Dropped in for a reasonably quick dinner with some friends who I was in town with for an event. We were after a reasonably quick meal, generous in size and tasty. I ordered the trio of schnitzels, consisting of three generously sized schnitzels - beef, pork and chicken. Underneath was a tasty potato salad but an only-ok sauerkraut. The schnitzels were perfectly fine, perhaps a tad dry if I was to be critical but not so much that I did not give all three of them a good home. Accompanied by a lovely dark German Erdnger Dunkel it was the meal that we were looking for. Nothing fancy and nothing innovative but honest and filling. Service was friendly, the atmosphere quaint and obviously very fitting with the alpine setting. read more
