This is a quick little stop on the scenic drive to Rainbow Point. There are no trails departing from this area so it's just a viewpoint. This place showcases trees (pine and fir) growing amongst the hoodoos, which is something that doesn't really occur in the other areas of the park. Unique neat view! There are no toilets or other services at this stop, but it's so quick that I wouldn't expect it to. If you need to use the washroom, hold it to Rainbow Point or to the visitor center! read more

Straight off the pullout area with a slight incline to get to the overlook. Nice little overlook but not the most exciting compared to the rest of the area you'll visit. Overall experience is enjoyable as a one and done visit. read more

Roadside pullout This lookout is one of Bryce Canyon's less-visited overlooks (located between the 16 and 17 mile). Maybe because it's too close to the Rainbow Point (the most southern viewpoint) where you just spent maybe an hour or so viewing the spires and the canyon from the two viewpoints, probably picnicking too. Black Birch Canyon happens to be the first roadside pullout on the start of your return trip north. Who'd want to stop and get off the car again? Well, we did. Here we got a nice view of the southern part of Bryce Canyon but it's almost like viewing it from Rainbow Point. We spent a total of 5 minutes here... maybe even less. Just a few spaces to park so you can make a quick stop and see down below 8,750-foot viewpoint the rows of hoodoos. It has a paved, flat trail as you make your way towards the rim. Beautiful Bryce! I love Bryce Canyon National Park for its beauty and serenity. The first time I visited Bryce was in mid 90s when it was not as popular a destination as it is now. However, despite all the crowd traffic and pains that it causes for all visitors, it is still a well worth destination. When you get to Bryce, UT-63 is the route that you will take from the visitor center towards Rainbow Point, the last stop on the route. Along the way there are 17 or more scenic points and Black Birch Canyon is only one of them. If you are visiting, take your camera and make sure you give yourself enough time to enjoy each stop for what it has to offer. read more

Another stop along the road to Rainbow Point. Smaller parking area. No services. The best view here is down a short walk to the canyon view point. If you don't want to walk, don't bother stopping here. read more
