They provide customized menus as a special touch. As there are three selections on four on the courses, the dishes do not appear to be as customized for those with dietary issues. Jamie was our primary server providing a friendly and professional service. For my order, Three of us started with the Crostini while my wife had the Pave. I really liked the flavors of the Crostini, scrumptious! I had a bite of my wife's Pave and thought the texture and tastes superb! Preparing for the second and further courses was my a put off! We were asked to keep our utensils for the future courses! Nothing like dirty silverware sitting on the table dirtying up the area! At this price point, used silverware should be taken and replaced with new! That is the reason for my 4 of 5 stars. We experienced the same during our first visit two years ago and had hope it was resolved after mentioning to staff. That said, it was the only put off of our experience. For the second course my sister and I decided on the Scallop Arancini while my wife and mom went for the Zuppa Toscano. Again, the Scallop Arancini was amazing and scrumptious! The flavors were terrific! I tried a few spoonfuls of the Zuppa Toscano and thought it missing seasoning. The third found 3 of us ordering the Salmon Oscar while my wife ordered the Grilled Cheese. The salmon was rare, which I particularly like but the crab was cold. My preference would have been warm war with a bit of the béarnaise on top. My wife's Grilled Cheese was very tasty with the preserves but looked lonely sitting on the plate. For the last course three of us decided on the Pumpkin Crepe and my wife the Apple Spice Cake. I thought the Pumpkin Crepe to be a lovey presentation and very tasty and my wife enjoyed the spice cake. All in all a lovely experience overall! Thank you!

The prohibition dinner is a 9 course meal served in an underground cavern that was used for aging beer, and likely more shady activities during Prohibition. The cavern has been updated into a dining room and bar. It does run a little chilly, so be sure to dress appropriately. It is also damp and you have to take an elevator down. Factor these into your decision. Let me also say, this is not a cheap activity, and not for picky eaters. They are very pleasant and accommodating of dietary restrictions, but the was a wide variety of flavors and textures that you need to be willing to try. You pay in advance for this activity . We were met in the little reception area by the servers, and taken down to the cave for a tour and to get settled. We did not purchase the wine pairing, but were offered wine by the glass as an add on, and chose from the pairing list, as it was easy and available. my friend and I both enjoyed a glass of Rose. Once we were seated and settled, we saw 2 other parties come in and were seated, back to front, in the cavern. there are 3 seatings, and they stagger your arrival. First up was the bread service, including a butter candle that melts down a lava rock onto your bread. Very fun, and the bread was wonderful. The fry bread was my favorite. I think the menu is seasonal, so I won't share too many details as it will likely be different if you go .The next course was a savory flan in an eggshell, which was really good, and had a bunch of crispy accompaniments. We also had a smoked salmon course, and a veggie fritter that I would order as an entree, it was so good! The main was duck, and I love duck. Finally, we had a really fun dessert that included white chocolate mousse, apple cotton candy, apple cake, and a streusel bit. I loved it. The portions are on the smaller size, but don't worry, we were very full at the end! The servers were so attentive and all very well versed in the menu. they do a great job pacing service per party and making you feel welcome. This is, to me, a luxury activity, and my party really considered it worth our money, and really enjoyed our experience.

If you are like me and know very little about the Amish in our country, this is the way to learn so…read moremuch about the history and current lifestyle. Rich, the owner/operator was excellent in his narration of the Amish. His parents were Amish but left the community before he was born. He went over some "rules" about how to show respect to the Amish such as don't take any pictures without asking first. During our three-hour tour, we were able to see the beautiful countryside, farms, and homes, staying off the main roads is the only way to see just how awesome this area is! We made three stops in the Amish-owned and operated stores and workshops. The Amish that we met were very friendly and enjoyed showing us their great businesses. I learned so much about the Amish today and have more respect for their culture. Please consider taking one of the number of tours that Rich offers. I wish I had found his website earlier as I would have loved having dinner with the Amish and learning more about them! Please do keep in mind that the Amish may or may not take credit cards! It is best to have cash! Also, their stores, etc, are not open on Sundays!

He gave us a choice of what we wanted to see, and he also gave us many ideas for places to visit and to dine afterwards. Our 6-year-old granddaughter was with us, which is why we chose a shorter tour, but he was so nice and accommodating with her that I'm sure she would have liked to spend another hour seeing the sights. I have been to the area countless times in the past decades, but I learned so much more about the culture than I had ever known before. We will definitely repeat the experience, as he has a varied selection of tours.

Lake Park recreational complex is the home of the Erie/Ohio canal boat tours run seasonally…read more Tickets are available inside a gift shop near the dock or at the visitor's center of Historic Roscoe Village. The gift shop offers traditional souvenirs of your canal ride and some snacks and drinks as well as popcorn. Canal boat tours run for 40 minutes on the hour starting a 1:00 with the last tour departing at 4:00. Instead of mules, two workhorses named "Bill" and "Rock" will pull the long ropes that will guide you on your 2 1/2 mile round trip tour along the canal. The horses are in a shaded resting area between tours and you can walk over there and pet them. The Erie/Ohio canal was built in the 1800s modeled after the famous Erie canal in western NY. This canal began in Cleveland and traveled as far south to Portsmouth, Ohio, right on the shore of the Ohio river. The canal itself doesn't exist anymore in its entirety but the tour gives you an opportunity to experience what it was like to ride a canal boat and see how long it would take to travel the route. We got in the "Monticello III"-the name of our boat and had a seat on one of the wooden benches. It felt so different to move slowly as we watched the draft horses pull us along the canal. In some spots the canal was narrow and in other spots it widened out. Our guide told us all about the history of the canal and the boats and answered any questions we had. Passengers normally slept where we sat and the boats were used to haul cargo. The canal itself in the day had to go through many locks run by a lock keeper to allow for the ascent or descent of the water lines. The water depth is only 4 feet. It was neat watching us "turn around" to the other side and the caretaker unhitched the horses from one side and hitched them to the other. On our way back we were able to stand out on the deck and watch them pull us as well as look as the stillness of the canal covered in spots with moss. It was cool and restful and made for quite a comfortable trip. Once back they turned the boat around for the next group and let us off. Your prepaid ticket does not lock you into any particular boat launch but you need to be at the dock at least 10 minutes ahead of your scheduled departure. The boats will run in many cases but be advised that they may not run in inclement weather. The canal is a must do highlight if you plan to visit historic Roscoe village. It is well worth the money and a fun family activity. A pathway connects this launch with Roscoe village or if you prefer it is an easy drive back and forth and plenty of parking is available.
