Black Forest Soaring Society is a wonderful, dedicated group of sailplane pilots, passionate about their sport! The airfield, which was moved many years ago from a location further south by Pike's Peak, was re-established in Elbert, CO, and offers the public super fun glider rides, with magnificent views of the Rockies, especially Pike's Peak, and all around the surrounding area. The pilots are experienced, fun to talk to, and patient with their public passengers. I have flown with them twice - both for a unique birthday celebration, and absolutely loved it both times! You sit in the front of the plane, the pilot in the back seat, so your view is unobstructed. When you disconnect from the tow-plane, the sense is a lot like sailing - just you, nature, and beauty all around you, as you soar through the air.
