Also with a name like Diving Cat Studio what the store is is a bit oblique...is it a pet store? A gallery? OK, go with it. Yeah, they were spot-on. Diving Cat is a seriously eclectic, funky, new-age-y, hippie store with lots of cool jewelry, home items, art, candles, soaps, perfumes, statues, even mobiles and prisms. The store does a very good job grouping items by category - Namaste and Yoga in one area, Judacia in another, items related to cats, items related to dogs, mystical items, etc. Yeah, just my kind of place. The store has a good deal of inventory and it's not very large, but it's not uncomfortable unless it's very crowded. They even have "Honey" seats outside for partners who are waiting for the other to finish oohing and aahing. Staff were nice, unobtrusive but helpful when needed. I got some very delicious smelling perfume in a steampunk - cool flask and a badass name (OK badass for a mid-life Main Line Mom). It's in 'downtown' Phoenixville, on the same block as the Colonial Theater. Parking is street and tight, better to find a lot just off the 'main drag' and walk. You know, like in most downtown places.

The last two years they have had two babies. Very cool add on to a fun, memorable round. The entire golf course has great greens that they keep firm and fast. It's walkable, has a solid range, and won't be something pine would get tired of anytime soon. That pool is big, looks awesome, and is always busy. Fun to be around right next to the range. I can't wait to be invited back!

Black Moth is a gem in Ardmore and a welcome relief from Suburban Square! The shop is cozy but bright, with tons of great, unusual art on the walls. Steve is a class act. I met him about 6 years ago at a different shop, and felt an instant connection with his laid back yet engaging personality. Hell even if you're not getting any work done, stop by and chat with him, you won't regret it. As he says, he's "got high fives on standby" haha. His tattoo work is impeccable and his shop is spotless! My most recent visit was for some script on my back in memory of my mom. Prior to that, he did a beautiful free hand lily on my entire shoulder. Needless to say, I trust Steve tattoos that have deep personal meaning to me. Steve was amazing and incredibly patient with me and my friend throughout our entire appointment! He was obviously very knowledgeable about his craft and took a lot of care in setting up, making sure everything was sterile, and very precise during the entire tattooing and clean-up process. He also took great patience explaining the aftercare process. Not only is Steve an incredible artist, he was also a lovely conversationalist! This was my first experience with a tattoo artist, and I have to say, Steve set the bar very high. Luckily, he's local for me so any future work I have done will be with him. One email sent via the site from me, he replied, said to stop in and we can chat and bounce ideas around, and go from there. I needed something very simple and we got a design in no time, had it done in even less, and I'm a happy first-timer. Very clean, very professional, no complaints at all. I had a great experience with Steve at Black Moth. The shop is clean, inviting, and Steve is awesome to work with! I gave him some inspiration photos of what I was looking for and the design he came up with is pretty much exactly what I envisioned but couldn't draw myself. It was done in two sessions, about a month apart. I absolutely love my tattoo, and get a little thrill every time I look down at my foot and see it. I'll be going there for all new tattoos and touchups in the future! read more

My friend and I went to Steve's shop today to get tattoos done. After doing some research on shops in the area we decided on Black Moth and could not have been happier. Not only was it great quality work and a clean environment, but Steve made the experience so personal. I truly feel that it is something special when compared to others because of the galleries, Steve's attention to detail when tattooing, and the welcoming environment that he has created. It has remained one of my favorite pieces of art all these years later. So when I finally decided I was ready for my chef tattoo, he was the artist I wanted. I was thrilled when he responded to my inquiry with genuine enthusiasm. I could not be more pleased with what we created together. The theme was food plants--but not the food itself--so the piece includes tomato plants, rosemary, chamomile, basil, nasturtium, and some of the critters that live around them. The whole sleeve flows beautifully with the anatomy of my arm in a way that still kind of blows my mind. Later, I asked Kiel to create a memorial tattoo for my father and uncle. With just a few prompts, he designed a vibrant and deeply personal tribute to two of the best men I've ever known. Everything has healed beautifully. Kiel is also wonderful to sit with through long sessions. We end up talking about books, movies, video games, parenting, and the general chaos of trying to be adults in a strange world. The conversation makes the hours easier, and meaningful. He's a genuinely kind human being and an incredibly talented artist. His understanding of anatomy, movement, and color theory makes his work feel alive on the body. I would recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone looking for something distinctive and personal, especially if you're willing to trust a gifted artist to collaborate with you creatively. 10/10. No notes.

I got my foot tattooed at this shop in 2013. It was a lily in remembrance of my mother who died…read morewhen I was eighteen surrounding my children's names. From the beginning the tattoo itched scabbed swelled and bled. It hurt and it looked bad. I went into the shop multiple times and no one could give me a clear answer. Messages on social media were ignored. Someone from the shop eventually suggested it might be an allergic reaction to metal in the red ink and gave me a home treatment plan with vitamin E, epson salt soaks and cocoa butter. I followed it for twenty weeks and my foot got worse. I was waking up with blood on my sheets from scratching in my sleep and people asked about it because it looked infected not because the tattoo looked good. I later moved to the West Coast and saw other tattoo artists who had zero connection to this shop. Multiple artists told me the work was done incorrectly and that poor technique and ink saturation were likely to blame. A dermatologist also confirmed it did not look like an allergy. The shop tried to say that other artists were probably trying to make them look bad but no one here even knows who they are and they had no reason to defend or criticize anyone in Pennsylvania. Sometimes mistakes happen. Most people understand that. What made this worse was that the shop refused to own anything. Instead they got frustrated that I was pointing out that something was wrong and treated it like an attack instead of a request for help. That reaction made the whole situation worse than it needed to be. It has now been thirteen years and my foot still itches daily, and splits open and bleeds randomly. I deal with it daily because the skin reacts constantly and that physical reminder is hard to ignore. For that reason I think about this shop every single day and not in a good way. Based on my experience I cannot recommend this place and I suggest staying far away.
