Thank you for your kindness and compassion, Fairfield Animal Hospital. We had to put our almost 14…read moreyear old dog down on Boxing Day. Everyone was closed because of the holiday, however one vet clinic I called left a suggestion to call them on their voicemail, and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I phoned, they were patient, kind and compassionate. They listened to me through my tears, and very delicately and apologetically asked me the necessary questions. They accommodated my requests and went above and beyond. My husband had been to several vets and animal hospitals and have never been treated with this level of kindness, compassion and professionalism. The vet that put our dog down almost cried when she told my 11 year old son how brave and loving he was for wanting to be there for his dog. When she administered the medicine and listened for his vitals she very kindly and lovingly whispered to us "he's gone" and touched our hands (that were all together on our fur baby) and said to take as long as we need. Two days later we received a phone call telling us his ashes were ready for pick up. We received a signed card from all staff, and a beautiful bag of his ashes, information on grief, a poem with paw prints and certificate of cremation. This experience, while heartbreaking, was the best I could have ever asked for to help us say goodbye to a family member. I will always be grateful for such a kind and personable experience.

Worst animal hospital ever! I had been going to them for many years and then I took my 10…read moreyear-old Yorkie to them because she wasn't eating. They took some blood tests and later called me to come in and see them. I walked in the door and a female Vet came up to me and asked if she could help me and I told her I was Chanel's mom. She said oh right, Chanel has liver failure. I said, so what can we do about it? She said "nothing she's dying." I was in absolute total shock, first of all to be told that she was dying and secondly that she couldn't even be gracious enough to tell me in a private room instead of people all staring at me as I started crying. Everyone in the room could hear what happened, including the receptionist. Chanel is the best dog I've ever had and I was absolutely heartbroken. Nobody showed any compassion whatsoever. As I walked out the door, the receptionist yelled out "have a good day!" Once again, I was in shock, that is not something you should say to somebody who has just been told that their beloved pet is dying. When I got home, I phoned her and told her so and she said very snottily, "what was I supposed to say?" I told her that she could've said "take care" or something like that instead. I have never stepped foot back in that place again and never will. How I was treated was shameful.

I am SO glad my mother and I found this amazing place! We both have small dogs and Dr. Chhetri and…read morehis staff are extraordinary! Dr. Chhetri is attentive, gentle, understanding, and clearly devoted to the wellbeing of the animals (and their owners) who come into his care. He also clearly cares about their day-to-day wellbeing because the products he sells (and does not push in any way) are not overpriced - in fact, I wonder if he is making any kind of money from carrying pet food, etc., because his mark up is nearly imperceptible. My mother recently had to buy a specialty food at a veterinary hospital in the Lower Mission and the price was nearly 100% higher, for the identical product, than at Alpine Pet Hospital. This, to me, means that his clients are more likely to be able to afford quality food, etc., for their pets. For my family this is evidence enough that Dr. Chhetri is not motivated by personal gain, but truly wants the animals he cares for to have every chance of being well looked after at home as well. Love this place!

took my cat there for a complete check-up and teeth cleaning. I called every vet. in kelowna and…read moreA.P.H. was the only one that gave me a quote for teeth cleaning right away AND they were the lowest. other vets wanted me to bring the cat in to have a look and then give a quote but I would tell them that a cat has very few teeth and they should have an idea of what the cost would be. so I took my cat to A.P.H. the doctor was thorough and explained everything. the assistant with 24 years experience, however, had trouble finding my cat's jugular for a blood sample even after shaving off an area 1.25" x 2"! so she shaved the area on the other side to try to find it, leaving a big strip of fur gone from across his neck! good thing it will grow back fairly quickly. I was quite happy and impressed that the doctor gave me a better price than he originally told me! since when does a vet do that? even more impressive was when I went to pay, the secretary connected me to a local service to see if some of the cost would be taken care of by them. turns out they covered almost the whole bill of $357 except for $7!

So, an hour out of my day later, in with the vet, I ask, "what vaccines"? Am told, um, no vaccines, here for an annual check up ... I suppose I could do Kennel Cough". When told that I only want the vaccine, dog is fine, vet harumphs and lumbers out of the exam room. I ask the receptionist on exit to take us out of the system, she gets a manager, who then proceeds to tell me "its the law that we do an exam every year".... I ask her to show me some sort of standard of practice from her "college" or other, tune changes to "its our policy". Either way, this team is clearly only in it for the $. Also - of all the clinics Ive ever taken dogs to, this is the dirtiest and most run down. Gave them 1 star because the jokes on the billboard out front make my kids laugh.

Unfortunately, the tumor was bigger than expected and the excised area was large and in an area of high movement. When the wound didn't want to fully heal, Dr. Veenis performed a COMPLIMENTARY skin graft involving 7 feet of sutures and a meter of staples. Within two weeks, our baby was as good as new. We are grateful to have wonderful veterinarians such as Dr. van Nobelen and Dr. Veenis that are willing to go above and beyond for our family.

I have been well-educated by a group of wonderful DVMs and veterinary technicians who admitted my septic little poodle to the urgent care, saved his life, performed exploratory surgery to fix the damage, and then took care of him for a week afterwards. Drs would call me at every shift change to give me an update (3 times a day), they were sending me pictures, one of the doctors was making chicken just for my little poodle to make sure he eats. They "educated me" very well about proper veterinary care, in both words and DEEDS. It was clear to everybody what happened to my poodle and why he ended up at urgent care. Crystal, do you remember that I spoke to you a day after Leo's surgery telling you that Leo didn't want to move, eat, or drink, and that I askEd you to put aside some cans of wet food for me to try feeding him that. You did put aside wet food which I promptly picked up. You also told me not to worry because he is probably still doggy from the anesthesia from the day before. That was Friday. Missed opportunity, don't you think? The clinic is not open over the weekend. It became clear to me that you guys must really care so much about your patients' surgical recovery that none of you doctors or animal technicians can be contacted if something goes wrong, or if one has questions about pain control (For example). Your slogan should be: "Central Valley Veterinary Hospital - once we cut you are on your own. Let me close with my own equally condescending statement: Crystal, I have significantly more formal education than you do, with undergraduate and graduate degrees in a very close discipline. I highly doubt that there is much you can "educate me" about. Sonja

I paid for a urinalysis test that never got done to find out I had to bring my cat to Black mountain vet and spend another $500 to find out he had an infection that Central valley vet neglected to look at. Then they told me to bring my cat back to be neutered and they would do it for $100 once he was all good. So I got my wife to bring my cat up there after she spent $50 in an Uber each way. The vet said no, we can't honor that deal. I don't know what you're talking about and was rude to my wife. Now I just called and spoke to the manager and was sloughed off some more. I do not recommend you dealing with Central valley vet. I will be calling the better Business bureau on them. Go to Black mountain. They are way better. They deal with your animal with care and love.
