From the moment we stepped into the gallery, I was completely captivated by Dong's unique and creative approach to art. The way he seamlessly integrates technology to create these beautiful, immersive, and interactive installations is truly innovative. What made it even more profound was the clear influence of Buddhist philosophy woven throughout the artwork. We were particularly drawn to the fascinating Buddhist-influenced exhibit. The glowing lotuses were ethereal and meditative, creating a serene and almost otherworldly atmosphere. And the rotating room with mirrors? Absolutely brilliant! It played with perception and perspective in such a thought-provoking way, inviting introspection and a sense of interconnectedness that resonated deeply with the Buddhist themes. The entire exhibit felt like a journey, prompting reflection and offering moments of genuine awe. My boyfriend and I couldn't stop taking photos and videos. For the older kids, it's a good way to teach them about what this time in our history was all about. The exhibits are fantastic The people that run, the place are very friendly, and a total font of information. I was talking with one of the gentlemen, about how I had been to the Woodstock Museum up in New York, and he was telling me stories about the festival that I never knew. Stop in and check it out. It's worth it.

It was a spectacular sight to see, as she shows of her bloom, if only for a few days. The conservatory has some amazing flowers that changes every time I visit. The lily pond is my favorite area to visit. With the colorful lilies and reflections of the plants surrounding it, it truly is a nice tranquil area to ponder. Staff are always welcoming and how lucky are residents who get to enjoy this beautiful conservatory for free just by showing your ID. There's also the tranquil Aids memorial nearby, worth visiting.

There's a relaxed ambiance inside with all the sounds of nature, but turns out they're just speakers. And, in certain areas, it gets pretty warm because I mean... it is a greenhouse... so make sure you can withstand the heat. There were a lot of people hanging outside on the grass playing with their dogs or having a nice picnic. And the interior was not the only thing that was beautiful, the outside area was also a sight to see. An amazing sculpture and flowers blooming. And as a high school student in San Francisco, I just showed them my school ID and got in for free! :D It's such a fun experience and it's definitely a lifelong experience for me. There are two floors, but the exhibits downstairs were minimal, just the Warren Hinckle Vault and a roped off new exhibit coming soon, City Lab for kids. Lovely colorful murals on the wall though, featuring SF landmarks like Alcatraz and the Palace of Fine Arts. The restrooms are located on the bottom level too. The main hall, on ground level, had lots to explore in its permanent collection. This included an SF cable cars display, a piece of wire rope from the Bay Bridge, old posters from the Fillmore Auditorium in the 1960's, a carousel horse from Woodward's Gardens (an amusement park that existed in the mission district from 1866-1891), a stage coach visitors can step inside, and the story and timeline of SF's four "rushes" (starting with the Gold Rush in 1849-1853, and the most recent being Silicon Valley). There was also a smaller attached room on the same floor with a documentary film showing activist James Baldwin's visit to SF in 1963, highlighting racial injustice of displaced residents, part of the museum's current special exhibit "We Were There: Views of SF's Urban Renewal". The museum has rotating exhibits and offers guided tours on Saturdays, though we preferred and enjoyed our self-paced visit. Worth checking out!

The Beat Museum has artifacts from the era, including books, photographs, and a whole fucking car, yes. Good place for those not wanting to spend too much time in here. You can see everything in about an hour or so, it seems. Basically it got its start in 2003 in Monterey, as part of a collection by Jerry and Estelle Cimino. It's grown a lot since. They made a touring museum that visited college campuses, before the current location was opened in 2006. It's located across from the site of the City Lights Bookstore. The artists came here to make it a popular Beat hangout spot. Many of the artifacts were donated by families and friends. These include Neal Cassady's referee shirt from the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, Allen Ginsberg's typewriter, and Jack Kerouac's tweed jacket. Also the director of the 2012 film On The Road, Walter Salles, donated the 1949 Hudson car. There's original art by Gregory Corso, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and Harold Norse. Check out memorabilia from Ginsberg's 1957 obscenity trial for Howl. There's also a first edition copy of Kerouac's first novel, The Town And The City, cool stuff. Of course there's tons more to look at. There's also the area with the books you can purchase as well as other gifts. Cool stuff in this popular collection. It's certainly worth a visit for fans of On The Road or other Beat era books and music. This is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Kennedy Rd, that may be worth going through if you want to get some steps in. But for this spot, it was kind of a plain jane.
