My friend and I went in because I wanted to get my tattoo redone because it faded over time. We walked in without an appointment and met with Ava who was so nice and more than helpful. She recolored my tattoo and I was on and out. I also had a question about getting the tattoo above my ankle covered up. I've never had it retouched so it's fading and I really just want something else at this point in my life. I did a see a picture of a flower and wondered if that would work as a cover up and indeed it will work. They do take venmo and forget what the other cash app or they take cash. Thankfully I had enough cash and money for a tip. Its a very laid back atmosphere and there's no hard selling to get a tattoo. They definitely leave you to your own pace to look at the picture books to see if there's something in them you may want to get. For me today it was just the recoloring of my tattoo on the side of my hand. I'm definitely thinning about getting the tattoo above my ankle covered up and I know I'll be going back and scheduling an appointment with Ava. read more

We walked in on a Friday afternoon with hope but no expectations - and they were able to get FOUR of us in for walk ins. It was insane. We were all in and out in an hour. Some of the tattoos were phenomenal, especially for walk ins! There are some talented guys here! There was one that was a little iffy but you always take that chance when you haven't done any research on your artist. Overall, it was a fun experience and these guys went with the flow. Cool shop. Exactly what we wanted. My only complaint was the shop was...dirty? Their stations were clean and seemed sanitary but there was a lot of dust and clutter. I got this tattoo a couple weeks ago, it was more painful than my other tattoos but I wasn't alarmed or anything since I have over 10 large tattoos, but I woke up the next day and it was very sore and irritated. I went on to do everything my artists told me to do to keep it clean. More days of worsening pain went by then the peeling started in very large chunks but again I've seen it happen before so I left it alone. Until the chunks started getting deeper and deeper and now I'm having yellow crusts fall out of my tattoo and even bleeding without me ever touching it. I'm never one to blame the store or artist but this is one of those times where I think something just went wrong read more

I made an appointment with Asa in early March 2023 for a tattoo on April 19th at 1:00pm. I arrived at the shop 15 minutes early on April 19th only to be told by Asa that he couldn't do my tattoo that day because he had double booked my day and time and the other tattoo he was working on that day was an important project - as if mine wasn't. He told me that all I could do is reschedule for another day. It's bad enough that he double booked me and even worse that no one from the shop called me in advance to let me know. They had my number for over a month. It would have been easy enough to pick up the phone, let me know what was going on, and I could have avoided wasting an entire day from work. Communication is very poor. Asa may be the best tattoo artist in town but he has no interest in customer service. read more

My friend went in for a tattoo from Asa in October of 2019. She asked for a realistic sunflower behind her ear. What she received was unacceptable. She received 2 poorly drawn sunflowers WITH SMILEY FACES IN THEM. Absolutely ridiculous. She emailed about a cover up and was not promptly followed up with. She received the cover up at the and it was poorly done too. It looks blown out and will not be able yo be fixed again. Do not recommend this shop and especially the artist. What a joke. read more

i went to asa. i love their work, but it was poor customer service. he said there wasn't time to sketch something i'd like better, even though i had made the appointment months prior. it was weird until i made a decision to get one of his flash pieces, which i do like, but the lack of care at the beginning really out me off. i don't plan on going back to him. i can't speak as for the vibe of anyone else. i know myself and want to feel cared for and accommodated to an extent when it comes to the design and getting a tattoo. read more

Absolutely love Black Rose! I have gone to Rachael for 3 if my tattoos and have never been disappointed- and most recently for a cover up. All the artists are super friendly and talented. I can't speak to their work or quality of work, because I didn't even get that far, but their customer service is definitely lacking. I called ahead for availability for a finger tattoo and was told that they take walk-ins and had plenty availability that day. I arrived 20 minutes later to find out there was a line of 3 people ahead of me and then when I was asked what I was looking to get and explained it to them, I heard a couple artists very clearly talk about how they weren't going to do it (even when one said he could do a small one) only to have one of them finally come out and tell me that they were fully booked and I would have to come back another time, I guess like I didn't hear the entire conversation they just had about my tattoo. I get a lot of body mod done and am looking for a local shop, so I could've handled the truth and would've asked for their suggestions, but they didn't have the decency or courage to do that. My friend went to this shop on vacation after calling ahead to check to see if walk-ins were accepted. After confirming that she and her girlfriend could walk-in and did not require an appointment, they went to the shop and were never even greeted. At first they thought it was because people seemed busy, but two other women walked in, who were clearly straight and were immediately approached and asked what tattoo they wanted. My friend reminded them that she and her girlfriend were there first and still received no acknowledgement. It quickly became clear to my friend that this shop was not LGBTQ-friendly. It also may have had something to do with the fact that my friend and her girlfriend are clearly people of color and everyone else in the shop was white. Being ignored this way made the whole situation very uncomfortable and they decided to walk out. Still no one acknowledged that they had ever been there at all. Very disappointing service and will not support businesses that clearly are not inviting, accepting, and welcoming to everyone. read more
