This place is extremely busy. I've visited twice and both times every chair was filled or eventually got filled. The first time was on a friday afternoon, orientation was kind of rushed because there were multiple people in the small waiting room area needing orientations and the only chair available was in the middle on the room...so my first visit was kind of hectic and overwhelming. Today I visited again on a wed afternoon a half hour after the place opened and it was much better. Valerie greeted me by name and it had been weeks since my last visit. I took a spot in the corner and Valerie came by and remembered key details I told her in passing during my last visit. And the chair was totally comfy and the music was relaxing and the needles put me to sleep that I kept yawning. I dont know how Valerie does it because she is basically interacting meaningfully with 10 to 15 people all at once and doing everything else like cleanup and changing the sheets and new orientations etc. She could probably use a helper to make it easier on herself but I must say...she is extremely organized and on top of it for a one woman show...she has cards with how often you should come and she has your name in an envelope on the board for payment as you leave. Community acupuncture (esp the POCA philos/model) has really grown on me lately because it's affordable and accessible; the brief yet depth of interaction is exactly what hits the spot sometimes and entices me to go more often...like every couple of days if I have symptoms. I really like being to walk in if I'm having pain without having to wait days for an appt and without thinking ahead. There's also something great/sacred/communal about everybody in the same room healing together. read more

Be careful or you will miss your turn off. The owner was a pleasure to meet and chat with. She really takes pride in her craft I could tell. There's a wall with slots and each time you visit she has a folder for you that she places on the wall which has tabs of your visits and this is also where you could leave your donation. The set up is community but the room is large, darkened and serene that immediately prompts relaxation. I've only visited once but definitely plan to come back. read more

I always enjoy my time here. I love the dark room and the soft music. Valerie is amazing with her treatments and very accurate. I go here normally for stress management. But the last time I came in is because I had a massive headache and congestion. After 40 minutes, I felt like I could think better and I could breathe. I have been doing acupuncture for quite a few years, before the community acupuncture clinics were around. I suffer from chronic neck pain and acupuncture helps tremendously with pain management. She finally gave in and went to Black Sheep. She committed herself to doing 2 days a week for 10 visits. If it didn't work by then, she would stop going. I was thinking about trying acupuncture for awhile now. I not only love acupuncture, but Valerie is so nice, welcoming and makes you feel comfortable; it makes it that much more enjoyable. I've only been twice so far, I mentioned my anxiety and my neck and the first time I didn't feel any pain for at least 3 weeks; went back 3 weeks later and she asked how I was feeling, I told her I was stressed and had bad anxiety lately....
