It was better than I could've imagined. I've always been a fan of Shakespeare, so made a mental note to check this place out someday. Like the famous Globe Theatre in England, the Allen Elizabethan Theatre is inspired and designed by such. It's Ashland's most prized setting and primarily what brings tourists to the area. My partner's grandma got us tickets to see The Twelfth Night, which was showing the one night we spent in southern Oregon. Since she is a local, she was able to get discounted tickets, which was nice. We were seated on the bottom level, close to the stage near the center. They were fantastic seats! However, just like the Globe Theatre, this theatre is outdoors, so rain or shine, the show must go on. Being from the Pacific Northwest, that bothered no one here. Everyone came prepared with rain jackets and parkas. Acoustics, lighting and design were all on point. We loved the performance, especially when the actors interacted with the crowd! There's a parking garage nearby, and is close to the main street where many of the restaurants are located. Bathrooms are right outside the theatre, as well as a concession stand that serves wine, beer and more. If you're in the area, you must absolutely see a Shakespeare play at the Allen Elizabethan Theatre! Truly a treasure!

Our Lyft driver Carlos had a few recommendations for food (see my Italian food reviews). Then our hotel, we stayed at The Ashland Springs Hotel, celebrating 100 yrs. Everything was walkable. Theaters are walkable We didn't need a car to go around. We saw Midsummer's Night Dream and Yellow Face, both were at the Angus Bowmer Theater. Enjoyed both productions. Yellow Face was well written. I saw two productions here during the 2025 season and thoroughly loved my experience. I got the lowest tier tickets and my seats were great...not a bad seat in the house here! Do make sure you get tickets early for these shows if they're a priority; the small capacity means it can sell out quickly.

They are showcasing plays that I think have had very important stances on social justice which I really like to see in plays. I try to make my way to as many of their shows as I can. I think it is very integrated in the theatre based community of Ashland. I think the Unitarian Church is a very good venue for staged readings, but i would certainly follow ANPF to a new location if it changes. Especially because it seems that each show is at capacity in the Unitarian church and if you don't get there early enough sight lines can be a problem, especially from the balcony; there is a railing that can be a really obstruction in the balcony. SOU students, you can discount tickets for $6 make sure to mention that you are a student. If you are buying tickets at the door make sure to have cash, they don't have any way of taking cards at the door. A really fun night out with friends. Make sure to stay for the talk-back with the Playwrights. It's always interesting to have the playwright in the room. And as the plays are in the process of being revised you can give input to the playwright in person! OSF fans, make sure to check it out. There are frequently OSF actors in the plays. It's fun to see them in a different setting.

Fun experience for the family…read more We went to the Angus Bowmer Theater for our second and last play during our visit to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland earlier this week. The theater is covered, and everyone was wearing masks, so we were comfortable throughout. They were selling souvenirs in the lobby, and we bought a couple of T-shirts and candy before the show started. We thoroughly enjoyed 'Once On This Island,' even though the musical was changed at the last minute to a recital as some of the performers came down with COVID. We will be back!

It was performed at the Grizzly Peak Winery within a relatively small indoor "warehouse" venue and stared 2 noted OSF veterans (Michael Elich and Robin Goodrin Nordli). As afternoon performances of about 90 minutes are among our favorites, we not only stayed awake, but attentively enjoyed show. It was almost a full house and and enjoying a free glass of wine at the beginning was a nice touch. The Winery was just a short drive beyond Downtown Ashland. We'll be sure to check to RTC schedule before we return to Ashland on our next trip here.

Stellar performance from the 3 leading men: Zach Virden (Stone), Ryon Lane (Stine), and Connor Lomeli (Manny). My favorite scenes with these gentlemen were the fantastic duet of "You're Nothing Without Me" and the fun and catchy "All Ya Have To Do Is Wait". Shout out to Noah Fitterer for nailing an entertaining Mandrill ! As for the strong cast of women, the 3 standout performers were: Haley Jane Forsyth (Oolie/Donna), Kaitie Warner (Bobbi/Gabby), and Alyssa Hertzog (Mallory). The duet "What You Don't Know About Women" was absolutely phenomenal, "Lost and Found" excitingly seductive, and "You Can Always Count On Me" perfection. The Theatre itself was regal, staff was polite and helpful, and merchandise was available, including refreshments. Convenient bathroom location with multiple stalls. It was My Pleasure, Thank You!
