There is something to be said for The Black Watch Museum. In this large 'castle like' building, is two and a half centuries of military history maintained by voluntary staff (including a black labrador!) who don't even charge an entrance fee (donations welcome). There is masses of information, presented in picture, written and video format. There is also a lot of memorabelia... food tins, uniforms etc.
We actually went to do some light research of a family member who served with the black watch and the men there were so helpful.
