Lawn area with shade- great to bring a blanket and relax
    Patti F.

We've lived in this area for so long, but this past weekend we had our first visit to the Blackberry Farm pool. Reservations are currently required so make sure you reserve your spots online beforehand. There is ample parking and you check in at the booth before entering the pool area. You aren't allowed to bring your own inflatables, but you can check out floaties and life vests for free. You just need to leave your ID with them. There are 2 pools, and one is pretty shallow (3-3.5") and perfect for toddlers-preschoolers. They have a water slide but it's closed due to Covid (during summer 2022). I loved the big lawn area, where families laid out picnic blankets under the shade. There is a small cafe with a limited selection of food and snacks (e.g. curly fries, chicken strips, corn dogs). There are 3 outdoor showers and one has a detached shower head so it's convenient for kids. There's also an indoor shower and bathroom stalls as well. Bonus- there is a small playground just outside the pool area. It had lots of shade during the afternoon around 1pm. We really enjoyed this community pool and I would recommend it to other families!

What a great spot to connect with nature in the middle of busy Silicon Valley! I got a chance to connect with a ranger who was super friendly and helpful and gave me some pointers. I went on a small walk here and saw multiple deer and owls. There is a lot of greenery and a creek that runs through the park. There is a pool on site but is closed now for the cold season. There are multiple volleyball courts. The picnic area is huge and requires a reservation.

Is the water slide open in 2023?

Hi Ting, The water slide is not open. The City removed the water slide due to its age and cost to replace and operate.

I do a 180 turn and go back up the road, checking out a low, long swinging white metal gate, similar to what you see at border crossings, with a sign saying Cupertino Hills Swim & Racquet Club. Except no guard house at the border crossing gate. I go up the hill and over the crest, and reach Nirvana -a beautiful Olympic size swimming pool, with a clubhouse, and six tennis courts, complete with landscaping. The lot is filled with late model Mercedes, Lexus, Acuras, Porsches, and BMWs -my 1998 Honda Civic sedan with 178k miles is the oldest in the lot, and is mistaken for the Club ball boys's car. I expect valet parking at a place like this! No Rolls Royce Phantoms like you see at the royal box at Wimbledon! We've got 12 people but only 1 courts. Turns out that the other 5 tennis courts were occupied as early as 7am, by club members with the keys to the gate. We start play on court 6, the worst of the courts, due to half in and half out of the shade -balls disappear in the shadows. A player opens up a can of penn tennis balls, and one ball is flat. You must have bought that at Costco! 15 minutes into the match, a net player pounds an overhead into the ground, and the ball goes over the end fence into the alley. 30 minutes later, another overhead, this time the balls goes over the alley and lands in the private property of the residences next door. A dog chases it, and holds it proudly in its mouth, saliva covering the ball. That's yours buddy! 90 minutes later, I leave the court, and recognize the 4 players on the next court, as being long time, no see, buddies from Sunnyvale Tennis Club in the 1980s! Old tennis geezers don't die - they go to Cupertino Hills Tennis Club, on their way to heaven!

Behind the club is the Deep Cliff Golf Course with spectacular views of the hills.

If something needs to be fixed, it's taken care of quickly. The gym has everything you need: machines, a few squat racks, free weights, a Smith machine, and a decent-sized cardio area with a good variety of equipment. The only thing I wish they had is a chest fly machine. There are classes going on all the time, and there's a turf area where your child can play while you work out. The turf has outdoor toys, ride-on vehicles, and large Legos, which is a great setup. We use the kids club for our daughter, and she loves it and always has fun. Childcare was the main reason we chose this gym since no other gyms in Cupertino offer it, and it ended up being an amazing decision. Our daughter also does swim lessons here. Brian is very patient and makes her feel comfortable in the water. She has learned how to float, hold her breath underwater, and is beginning to swim. She used to hate swimming, and now she looks forward to going every week.

We came on the evening on a Friday, which is perfect for just talking a nice stroll or hike around, but after seeing that they had a bearded dragon (Matilda) and a chuckwalla (Chuck), I knew I had to come back again to meet them. Parking is free and love the wildlife that is around here. Not just the butterflies that I've seen fluttering about but also the coyote that trotted across the lot to cross the street. This is also a great location to find activities to do with the family or with the community. They have a 4 H Club, a community garden that you can sign up for, an entire calendar of events for the month, a Blacksmithing workshop/demonstration, and much more. We were limited on time and didn't get to see the historical buildings or the restored structures, nor was the Blacksmith Shop open, but for our next visit, I'll be sure to check them out. Outside you can meet the alpaca that they have hanging out (freshly shaved for the summer, so it was funny to see the little tufts of hair that they had on their head) and some of their goats too. Now to the highlight of my visit, the Environmental Education Center. Obviously this is meant for kids and families, but I had a great time meeting their animal ambassadors (I didn't ask for them to be taken out, but I'm sure there are events and moments for that) and learning more about them. The staff there are very friendly, welcoming, and informative. It makes me happy to know that the ambassadors that I inquired about were rescues and they have a second chance at life and in educating the community. My favs were obviously Matilda and Chuck, but there are also various snakes, turtles, a toad, fish, tarantulas, and stick bugs. The center also has books, opportunities for hands on observations and journaling for kids, puppets and educational toys and exhibits, and much more. Definitely will come back!
