Amazing dining experience! We were seated outdoors and fans were turned on so it was very pleasant. Drinks and food were beyond amazing. One of the top 2 meals my group had while in Manila.

We had numerous appetizers, which is one of the reasons why I ordered a small dish. I usually order a small dish because I save room for dessert. I have to admit that every time I go to this restaurant, I look forward to having my Burnt Butter Sundae dessert, which I usually split with someone. Unfortunately, I have no idea as to what appetizers my cousin ordered. I just know that I enjoyed most of the appetizers that were served. I chose to have the Twice-Baked Gruyere and Spinach Souffle. My husband ordered the Tiger Prawns with kombu butter, sautéed spinach, and nori rice. I enjoyed my dish, but I should have ordered the same dish as my husband. It wasn't as big as I thought it would be. The others savored their steaks.

Often, during my travels in the United States or overseas, I've been asked what is the best restaurant in the city that I am in? I think I have found one for Manila in the Philippines. Blackbird if not the best, is amongst the best restaurants in Manila. Blackbird is an Asian fusion and modern European restaurant. Its menu is diverse with and enticing list of dishes. Problem here is which ones do you choose? We visited for lunch and started with the beet salad, then the quail scotch eggs, followed by the lamb kofta balls. The main dish was Kerala fish curry. How was the food? The beet salad had nice color, and a very fresh taste. The scotch eggs were made with shrimp, something unique, and arrived at the table with an enticing presentation on betel leaves, with coconut chili sambal. They were delicious. The lamb kofta was moist superb flavor, a good charred taste and appearance, and melted in your mouth. The Kerala fish curry was made with a meaty white fish, in a silky yellow coconut curry. This dish came with papadum, green chutney, mango chutney, and basmati rice. Another popular hit on their menu. So is the food alone enough to make a restaurant five stars? I would say no. During review, we have to count the ambience, the service, the table settings, and the background music. In all these departments blackbird deserves five stars. They provided fresh plates and cutlery for every dish that arrived at our table, a rare table service, but a gesture that elevates the dining encounter to another level. The music was an eclectic mix of jazz and European. The whole experience at Blackbird was exhilarating and a culinary treat to the taste buds and all the human gastronomic senses.

Amazing! This property is charming and full of history. Whether u sit at the bar, the patio or the main dining room, its all good. The place is exceptionally clean and welcoming. The staff is very attentive and polite. Now the food, yummy! I recommend the starters, try them all. Im not a huge fan of the entrees but the small plates are where its at! A must end to this experience is the affogato! Every time Im in Makati, its a must visit.

The service is dreadful but the restaurant is beautiful and the food was very good We had the short ribs (ok), the squash blossoms (ok), the duck bao (excellent) and the fish curry (fantastic) I had to wave my arms as if I was actually trying to guide the airplane in before anyone would come over and wait on us. This continued the entire meal. I got a real workout. It was terrible. Shame on them. Our first night in Manila staying at the peninsula hotel. we flew in from Bohol

Gorgeous restaurant in a restored building in the heart of Makati CBD. I've always seen this place on social media and have been curious as to why it is so popular. As you enter, you'll see the bar on your right and a seating area on the left. The vibe is airy and sophisticated yet warm and inviting. Once you enter the dining area, you'll see their iconic table with a huge flower arrangement that showcases and complements the high ceilings and exposed beams. Love the natural light filtering through the restaurant when we had lunch at Blackbird. I've heard mixed reviews about their food and honestly, I agree that their food is gorgeous and photogenic but a bit overpriced and taste is so so. Dessert was mixed reviews too -- their sticky toffee pudding seems to be reheated in the microwave as it was a bit dry and lackluster. The baked alaska was wonderful though and I enjoyed that over the sticky toffee. Service was great and they were very personable. Overall, I'm just glad that I've finally tried Blackbird just so that I can tick it off my list.

We had a great time dining here. Reservations was smooth and organized, the host was amazing. Serving staff was friendly, attentive and gave tips about the food. The restaurant is beautiful in a minimalist way. Definitely a nice go to for special occasions or definitely for that nice, fancy date night :) will definitely visit again. Good portions are great for sharing. Drinks are flavorful- not strong. If bartender can find the middle point it'll be all Perfect!

This is one of the more luxurious restaurants I've seen and been to in Makati City are of Manila Metro. It sits in a park like area off the busy Makati Boulevard. It's inside a small building, not sure of the history but looks cool. I recommend making reservations, as this place gets busy vey quick. We made reservations and had to change them to a later time by an hour and only had outdoor seating available. TIP, it gets very warm in Manila, if you're not used to the heat, indoors would be for you. Even well into the night, it was still warm and balmy outdoors. As for the food. I ordered the salmon dish and a burrata plate. I was in a party of 3 and my two friend also ordered a burrata plate to share and two mains each. The burrata side came out first, which appeared nice, small amount and finished it quite quickly. I am glad I had one to my own, to share with more than two is not enough. My salmon came out and the portions were small. I was very glad I had the burrata plate prior to my main dish, as I was very hungry. I feel the portions are small and not filling. Granted the value was very good considering we had appetisers, main dish and wine/alcohol drinks. It wasn't expensive for us Americans, not sure how the prices would compare to local economy, so I can't say if this place is cheap or expensive. What I can tell you, for USA dollar, this place was extremely cheap. The ambiance was great, clean, nice, pleasant experience. There is a small parking lot nearby and a larger one down the block. Both lots appeared to be paid parking. Overall, it's a good experience, good food, but not in quantity.

Great atmosphere both inside and outside dining area. Such a good variety of offerings on their menu. Service is exactly what I am accustomed to, coming from Las Vegas, NV. It was so good that I went back a second time. The only hiccup was the service experience the second night. I think they forgot about us when we were seated outside. I did speak with an assistant manager to bring it to his attention, which he rectified. Will definitely go there again.

Place is beautiful! You can do either indoor or outdoor dining, just make sure you call ahead and reserve a spot because they get booked a lot during weekends. Ordered lots of food here and the best would probably be the tuna poké. You should try the mushroom cappuccino soup and the pumpkin soup; they're both cooked and warmed perfectly. As for the main, I ordered their special for the day which is the sirloin steak. It was just okay for me though, seasoned good but not perfect. Overall, I had a really good experience here.

This quaint shop is first and foremost a bakery but they also offer meals, coffee, and snacks on the side. The smell of chocolate and bread in the oven wafting from the kitchen greet customers the moment they step inside this bread house. On the counter you will see various types of dinner rolls, croissants, buns, and breads. Although they serve familiar dishes, like lechon kawali with rice and chicken shawarma, I chose to try Dutch specialty snacks which -- according to the staff -- were made using traditional means from the Netherlands. I was a bit adventurous so I got Berehap (slices of meat ball and onion on a stick served with peanut sauce) and Bitterballen (small meat-based balls served with mustard, a favorite snack from Holland). My wife was hungry this time and she was not in the mood to try products she can't pronounce so she decided to have parma ham and cheese sandwich. The attendant asked her to choose the type of bread for the sandwich and she picked spelt, a type of bread made from hulled or dinkel wheat that's popular in Europe. Of course, both of us had coffee. I was glad that we decided to drop by this place because the coffee was good as expected from Lavazza and the food was different but surprisingly savory. The spelt bread was tough and heavy so I don't think anyone could finish one order of sandwich using this bread. I liked my order of Berehap. The sausage was a bit salty when eaten on its own but a bite of the sweet onion and a dab of the peanut sauce neutralizes the saltiness. My wife liked the Bitterballen dipped in mustard. She said it was similar to croquettes because it's crunchy on the outside but a bit gooey on the inside. The place is clean, well-maintained, and generally peaceful so I think this is an ideal place for a meeting. It's also worth noting that their restroom faucet comes with hot or cold water. Parking can be a problem but if you do not mind walking for one or two kilometers, you can park your car at Power Plant Mall and just walk your way to Dutch Bread Hauz.

Despite the name of the place, they are not exclusively serving French food. They have pasta, steaks, and seafood. If anything, Chateau 1771 is a modern European restaurant serving favorite French, Italian, and Swiss food. When I first visited the place years ago, I was actually anxious about that moment when the waiter would hand me the check. European dining in the Philippines has always been equated with expensive fine-dining. But to my astonishment, the price was actually reasonable. I mean, it's not affordable and one would be crazy or filthy rich to eat in this kind of place every day. But for special occasions, I would recommend this place. My most recent visit was during my wife's birthday. It was a table for two and we had a late lunch. After a few moments of browsing through the menu, she asked for Croquette Salad, while I went for Butter-baked Oysters. For main, she had Vanilla Brick Spring Chicken, or grilled chicken served with vanilla bean dots. I ordered the Potence, the house specialty. It's basically steak where the meat is served hanging from a potence, or metal frame, and then set alight (by the waiter) with brandy. Their Pomelo Fruit Juice is a must try. I would recommend having a reservation when dining at Chateau 1771. While the place typically fills up during dinner, I find it perfect for a late afternoon hangout. The ambience can truly transport you somewhere in Europe.

My husband and I didn't care too much for the fries and crispy salmon, but we definitely enjoyed the duck gyoza, grilled oysters, and the bone marrow. I really wanted to try the scallop ceviche and snapper crudo, but we were hesitant on trying anything raw since we we're from out of the country. For our entree, my husband and I shared an Excel Ribeye from Colorado topped with seared foie gras accompanied with a green peppercorn and brandy sauce. We enjoyed our delicious steak with the foie gras, but we didn't really care for the green peppercorn sauce. My friend and her fiance ordered the Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass and the Prime Tenderloin. We ordered our steaks with a side of Truffle Cream Mac N Cheese and Pan Roast Mushrooms. Both sides were fantastic. So good! We had leftovers and had the 3 items again for breakfast, and they were still amazing! The mushrooms were especially my fave - that sauce? Mmm, chef's kiss. Now, onto our desserts. My husband and I ordered the Panna Cotta, while our friends ordered the Pineapple Consomme and the Miso Cheesecake. All the desserts were beautifully made. They were literal works of art. The panna cotta didn't feel like a panna cotta to us - not sure how we would describe it since the white part of the dessert had a firmer texture than the orange part. The pineapple consomme was very different. It was cut up pieces of fruit, with some kinda of pineapple juice or sauce poured over it. Similar to a fancy fruit platter. However, the miso cheesecake was definitely the crowd favorite. Loved it. Overall, I would definitely recommed this spot if you're craving some kind of steak. The service and quality of everything was immaculate. Super glad my friend chose this spot!

The Blackmore Wagyu was just divine; thank you, cow, for that wonderful meal. However, the service was just bizarre. 1. Finally came over and wanted to take food orders and we were like "not yet, you haven't even taken our drink orders yet" 2. Drinks took FOREVER to come out. Never came around to check on if people wanted a second. 3. Dropped the dessert menus but then never came around again lol 4. Finally we asked for the check because this was the longest unsatisfying dinner ever 5. After dropping the check came by to ask if we wanted to order dessert 6. Never came to take our payment we finally had to just start walking out for them to take our money Decent food, GREAT drinks, will not return

I think that made the tea taste even better.. For our desserts, my husband went with the banana split, and I tried the Lazy Sundae Afternoon, which was awesome. It tasted fresh, and tangy, and the portion was quite large. Service was impeccable with our waiter standing fairly close by to make sure our needs were met. We didn't get to try their main dishes this time, but we'll likely be back to see how they taste.

First off was the tuna tartare... the crisps were super think and light. The tuna tartare came with a sauce with slight kick. Delicious! Next one a beef rendang nacho dish. Not sure how they pulled it off but the fusion of flavors were amazing! Next was pork belly dish with curry. Another hit! Last but not least is their signature salmon dish. That was really good too! Staff was super friendly and provided great recommendations to try out. Highly recommended and give it a try if you are in the area.

Solid choice! Light on truffle so not overpowering, the cheese on there is lightly salted sort of like a parmesan. Amazing. 2. Roast Beef Bun - 10/10. Another banger. The hoisin sauce was thick and reminds of me of a peanut sauce. Nonetheless a sauce worth mopping up and having on the side. I don't know what they did to the hoisin but it was phenomenal. 3. Pork Kare Curry - 6/10. I'm a huge kare kare fan but I think the sauce lacked the kare kare punch I wanted. The pork belly was also quite firm on the non fatty spots of the cut of pork. The rice that came with it was awesome. 4. Indo Smashed Chicken - 8/10. Well cooked thigh, good flavor. 5. Ginamos Rendang Halibut - 9/10. Can taste the Indonesian flavors. Light but filling. Great choice if you don't want to feel heavy after lunch.
