Chef John Rey making on the noodle station

Great great great staff. Good ingredients are fresh and top tier. The complimentary breakfast is the best, and worth it the price stand alone. Chef John Rey working on the noodle station if my favorite station.

Great service from attentive and friendly staffs. Varied selections of dishes includes noodles, salad, seafood, sushi, dim sum, roast chicken, desserts you can add couple more pesos for unlimited flow of drinks which we didn't avail. Nothing different in terms of spread between lunch and dinner but expect to pay more during dinner service. Service charge of 10% is included in the bill.

Since my check ins have only been for the breakfast, I had to go and try thier dinner buffet, as they are pretty well known for their seafood buffet. The cost is around $49 USD but it does have quite a wide variety of food to choose from. They sort of keep the same theme in regards to the various stations like the breakfast. They have sushi, seafood, asian staples, and various ethnic foods as well. Thier deserts and baked goods are excellent and the rest of the food is good, not sure if it was 50 bucks good, but it was good. I personally think that you could find better options in the BGC area, especially for that price point. However, the employees are super attentive and made the experience that much better.

A modern food hall lined with an array of offerings from the different stations or "neighborhoods" which includes Japanese, Mediterranean, Chinese, Western, Seafood and Raw Bar, Salad Bar, Rotisserie and a Dessert section... This place was amazing! High end top of the line quality food. Fresh and made to order. This is by far one of the best place I've eaten here in the Philippines so far. It's located instead Shangri-La Hotel at the Fort. When in the area you have to try... It's fine dining, highend resto, very classy . I love the ambience in this place and friendly staff.

Okay I'm not much of a buffet person because I don't eat a lot but I love desserts and go all out in that department. First with the food, sushi is great. They had a lot of fresh sashimi. I don't eat that but my brother said it was really good. Cheese selection is weak as they only offered 3-4 kinds. They had dim sum, steak, mashed potatoes, laksa, pork buns, make your own pasta dish and more. Best part for me was the dessert! They have a great selection for ice cream. They have the basics like vanilla, chocolate and strawberries and cream as well as other flavors like burnt rice!? It really tastes burnt I have no idea why someone wants a burnt flavor but they have it haha. The must try flavor is cookies and cream. It is seriously different level cookies and cream. Almost like stratitella (a gelato flavor). Try it!!! They also have many different cakes and Filipino desserts. I went on Sunday at lunch and had reservations. It was pretty busy. All the tables were filled. They have good service. Every time I got up to get another plate when I got back my "dirty" plate was gone. It's such a nice hotel. I would definitely try this buffet since it's in a good location and you can walk around after.

Best buffet for the Price in the Philippines! Lunch buffet is 1500 pesos. They have different stations with different types of food Highlights: - grill: get the lamb and the beef tenderloin, seasoning is amazing. Every bite is an explosion of goodness - mashed potatoes A seafood crab and shrimp have them cook it in garlic butter - dessert : get anything it's all good! Especially the ice cream Definitely a must try. Not many people know about it yet so it's not too busy The food taste like all the best food in one place.

West Afternoon tea set at High Street Lounge in Shangrila at the Fort

I've recently been enjoying afternoon tea with my partner and we got excited to try it out in High Street Cafe. You can choose from a Western or Eastern set from the afternoon tea menu. I immediately went for West because I personally like scones with my tea. I had a darjeeling tea with the scones, tea sandwiches and their little desserts. For 950 pesos, it's quite a great deal. The lounge is relaxing and cozy and afternoon tea is always great for conversation with loved ones. I actually wasn't very fond of my darjeeling tea because it became bitter (possibly steeped for too long?) But it was good while it was still hot. It was still very enjoyable and the staff are exceptionally attentive.

Breakfast: -Very slow service. Staff seems either sleepy, chatty (with each other), or pissed off (most people are not morning person, I guess). -I noticed most breakfast items are a bit on the raw side. -champorado (for which they called Choco congee, I guess that's how it made its way to the Asian section) is on the asian section? Bacon is on the Filipino section (bacon was very pale by the way)? And it would've thrilled me to see a meatloaf on the American section, there's SPAM instead (thinly sliced, undercooked, and soggy). -bacon was tucked away somewhere in the Filipino section, you needed to ask to get one (but I guess that's their style). -no bagel nor cream cheese for the breads either. --may I be your lead chef for breakfast? BUT The ice cream flavors are pretty accurate! The burnt rice flavor (aka DUKOT) is amazing! Mangga't suman and caramel popcorn taste like the real thing! The Davao Choco flavor brings me back to Digos City at Mer's, drinking native chocolate with my dad. Dinner: Basic menu. Cooked very well in terms of consistency. Tastes quite good, not great. Good desserts. Better staff than morning crew.

So we decided to try something new, but didn't want to stuff ourselves with their buffet. The High Street Cafe also offers a la carte meals at prices comparable to restaurants that are located nearby the hotel. NYONA CHICKEN (391++ PHP) Boneless chicken thigh mixed with asian salad and jasmine rice. Tender chicken, soothing flavours, and texture thats just relaxing on the the tongue. A feel good bowl that's surprisingly filling for the price. VEGETABLE CURRY (367++ PHP) Spicy good curry that packs a punch and ends smoothly in the head. I love the effect the spices give. Mix the plain rice on the side and you'll surely be stuffed. CHOCO LA (163++ PHP) Chocolate milkshake topped with Oreos and served in a glass jar. I think you may need to request an extra straw since it melts after a while being made of paper it' expected. I do find the consistency rather thin and taste lighter than expected. I'm really happy with our meal and looking forward to enjoying their buffet. Rest assured you won't be disappointed.

Their ice cream is love. Tried these three first : guyabano sherbet (which was creamy for a sherbet), mangga't suman and ricotta orange.

Had lunch here with a friend and was pleasantly surprised to find a pretty good hotel buffet near me. (Well, nearer my place than Makati and Pasig ones that are more popular. For now at least.) I usually base how much I like a (hotel) buffet experience by three things: their sushi/sashimi station, their carving station and their dessert bar. For High Street Cafe, these stations didn't really disappoint. Admittedly, their sashimi wasn't really anything special for me. They had tuna - served on an actual tuna - with some variation: spicy tuna, seared, and regular sashimi. They did have a few rolls available too. I didn't like that their other sashimi seemed to be rationed - you have to request for salmon and other types of sashimi and they kind of skimp on the servings. When I went, I didn't even see much variety either. They had mackerel and grouper, as well as tamago but I didn't see uni or tako available. Was a little bit disappointed by that. Their carving station also seemed to have rationed portions. When I asked for some of their steaks, I got somewhat thin and tiny slices. In a way I guess that's good to avoid food spoilage but for a hotel buffet, I would have thought they would be more generous. It's easy to go back anyway plus walking makes the food go down so I guess it isn't all that bad. Anyway, since I was having lunch with a friend, we were so engrossed catching up that when we got to our steaks, they had gotten cold. In spite of that though, they still stayed soft and quite tasty. They were spiced just right too. I'd also recommend trying their pork longganisa. Have it grilled. It tasted more like chorizo and was really good grilled too. A few steps away from the carving station, you can find a pasta station that also had beef cheeks that seemed to be cooked in red wine. Again - another must try. They were really tender and flavorful. The highlight of the buffet experience for me was really their dessert. They have very unique ice cream flavors - ricotta orange was one of my favorites. Their malt flavor was also very rich, and their mangga't suman had bits of suman in it too. I'm not really a fan of sherbet but I love guyabano so I gave their guyabano sherbet a try. Unlike others I've tried before, their sherbet was nice and creamy, and didn't taste watered down at all! For the adventurous, try their burnt rice ice cream. I had a taste and, well, it really delivers on the burnt flavor. Not only was their ice cream stellar, their brazo de mercedes was also very good, and their macaroons are also worth trying. While I focused on those three, there are other stations worth trying too: the cold seafood station and the noodle bar seemed interesting. They also had a pretty good selection of cheese and cold cuts (try their carpaccio). All of the staff walking around were helpful and friendly, and they were very attentive with their service too. I'd say, overall, a great experience, and would like to come back.

I requested a simple order of plain chow mein or lo mein noodles and they would not accommodate. My kids have sensory issues when it comes to food and this simple request has always been easily fulfilled. I never expected this restaurant to turn us down. Second, I ordered a vegetarian dish that never came. I think the server got too flustered that I insisted on having plain noodles for my kids that she refused to grant my own order of food. It's disappointing. I come to the Philippines every few years and like a good time with my parents. But this was terrible. Then the server lied when my dad asked why my order never came. She said I never ordered it. After taking my order, she actually followed up a little later to tell me that my vegetarian dish was still coming. At that point every other order was done. Then it still never came. My dad rightfully gave her a piece of his mind and said it was unacceptable. But she still lied and told him I never ordered. Again it's unfortunate. They should train their servers better and let them know how to give good service with a good attitude. My parents go here all the time which is why my dad got really mad because I don't visit from the states that often. I'm willing to be contacted if necessary P. Tan-Gatue

You pull up to the front door and it's like an entrance to a fancy hotel with a door person who can help with people getting in and out of a car. Almost seems like there would be valet service but nope someone's gotta park the car around the corner. Entrance has a huge seafood tank with would rival a tourist museum/aquarium. I heard there are 3 levels, the bottom being general public, and other 2 for different levels of reserved dining probably a floor just for big banquets for weddings. Tofu Spinach Soup (4*) Very simple soup of thickened broth (chicken/seafood) with delicate ribbons of spinach leaves and silky bits of tofu. Very mild but a perfect start to whet the appetite. Roast Crisp Chicken (4*) This could be a Filipino/Chinese hybrid prep. Definite soy flavor in the chicken and roasted very crisp that the skin is so rendered and crisp. The meat is on a little on the dry side but I think many Filipinos like it that way. Yangchow Fried Rice (4*) Basic Hong Kong style fried rice with peas, scallion, diced pork and small shrimps. Back in my younger days I could make a meal with just a big bowl of this. This version was okay, I prefer more wok hei but still decent. Seafood Pan Fried Noodles (3.5*) This was just okay to me. Sauce kinda muted and seafood not memorable. Just average. Sweet & Sour Pork (4.5*) I usually don't order this for myself, but my family usually does. This was one of the best versions I've ever had. First off the pork is so crisp on the outside and so tender inside. Then the sauce was totally made in the pan by caramelizing sugar and adding vinegar and something orangish. It wasn't bright red, kinda burnt orange. And that prominent caramel flavor in the background was so eyebrow raising. Steamed Whole Fish (5*) Straight from one of the tanks, some sea bass type of fish, looked real similar to a branzino type of fish. Maybe a pound and a half to 2 pounds, so the fish was so tender and supple. Simply steamed and dressed with that slightly sweet soy and lots of slivered ginger and fresh cilantro. I love this dish anywhere I go, and here was no different. Mango Sago (4*) Don't think they automatically give out complimentary desserts, as this came out in a big tureen after we requested it. I didn't see the bill so not entirely sure. But this is a chilled fruit soup of sorts. Super fresh mango flavor like definitely not from a frozen puree, like I taste from the U.S. This is a tropical country where fresh mangos are super easy to find, thus pretty cheap too. I almost ate mangoes every day on my trip, and I know that fresh mango sensation, very floral in aroma. This soup was perfect texture, not too thick and just enough tiny tapioca pearls (sago) to not make this just seem like thick mango juice. BUT the most unsweetened version I've ever had, like the only sugar was from the fruit. But I suppose I'd rather have the sweetness be a little muted than over done with it being cloyingly sweet. I found out that this is where my family likes to go when they want to celebrate something and sit at a big table for 8-10 peeps. This type of dining is perfect for that as everyone gets to eat family style and just share everything. And let's face it, banquet Cantonese food is a favorite for any Asian culture. This country has a long history with Chinese food, from even actual citizens learning and professionally cooking in that style. I did like how I did see some integration of Filipino taste in classic Chinese dishes, made our occasion that much more fitting. I'm a big time fan. I'm sure I'll see this place again on future visits as my fam are regulars here.

FYI, I ate Balut on this trip!!!!!!!! Finally Freeeeeeeeeee. Hahhahaahahahha…read more I'm so confused. Admittedly, Filipino food for the most part, not my jam. Most likely Tim Ho Wan curtailed their menu/dishes, way of cooking to the fillipino palate......maybe???? I'm confused that a previously Michelin rated domain super franchise has some super mediocre dishes. Actually the Yang Chow fried rice is 1 star at best. Didn't even finish it. The pork chop was decent, they had a different take on the frying and I appreciated it. But the fried rice, 3 bites, nope. The Prawn Fried Chicken wings and drums........soooo confusing. When it arrived I smelled shrimp, it was strong enough to overtake the table, not in a bad way just had u questioning how chicken could smell so strongly Prawn. I guess that's why they call it that! Perhaps it's a thing here or am existing trend I'm clueless about, but for me, yea.......no. Fried chicken itself was good, just like the Tim How Wan in China (without the prawn frying) but the prawn frying here was just nope! The beef brisket noodle soup.......noodles mushy. A big nonooooooooo. Beef and tendons were just ok. Broth just ok..... The BBQ Pork Buns thankfully NOT messed with. Always the shining star of Tim Ho Wan. Flaky, hot, tasty. The salvaging only dish here. Everything but the Buns (4 Star), 1 Star. Service, hard working people, especially front desk taking names and numbers - 4 Star girl. 2 stars overall. Super odd, and I hope a super outlier for a franchise I expect WAY MORE FROME.
