I had scoped out Blackburn as the closest coffee place to the Hotel Providence for my solo trip to Paris. I went for breakfast after I checked into the hotel. First of all, you have to appreciate the humor/irony of seeing "French toast" on a Parisian menu. Then I saw it arrive on the table next to me and I was sold. However, the serving was huge. I asked the server and she was happy to make a half-order for me. The bread is carmelized, not just toasted, and was unlike any French toast I'd ever had. My coffee took a little too long to arrive, but was quite good. The restaurant is small but cheerful. The tables are small and close together. Fortunately, it wasn't too crowded when I was there, but I could see this being a bit of a madhouse at peak brunch hours. All in all, this was a very solid choice and I found myself craving the French toast, so I returned for it a few days later. read more

We loved this little spot. We wanted a more substantial breakfast and Blackburn more than fit the bill. It's a small place and the people working are very friendly. I had the shakshuka, which is a wonderful Israeli (I think?) dish of eggs poached in seasoned tomato sauce. It was excellent. It came with a nice salad of greens and some fresh pears and some really good toasted country bread. My wife ordered the brunch, which was a huge meal that included an excellent hash (potatoes, cheese,... NOTE: I somehow failed to finish and post this review. It's now 5 months later. My memory is a bit hazy on all the details. All the food was great. The service was excellent. This is a great place! read more

This is the best place to have french toast! The best i've had and i've eaten A LOT of em. The lady that works here said she makes the sauce on top every two days so it's always fresh. The cameralized brioche with a slight hint of cinammon and the fresh fruits to top it off is to die for! Will definitely come back here again when i visit paris again! Also the customer services was great! They spoke english which made is easy for us to order. They were super friendly and are not your typical french waiter who are snobby. They will make sure you are well taken care of and will not ignore you when you need something. read more

I came here on my first morning in Paris. This is a super cool cafe that's very friendly to English travelers. There's a nice variety of people here, from tourists to locals trying to get some work done on their laptops. My cappuccino was SO tasty, and at first I was a little bummed at having to spend 12 euro on breakfast, but I was not disappointed. Staying in the area and read on Yelp that they had amazing lattes, and cappuccinos so i wanted to investigate! We only meant to come for some hype caffeine, but then saw other customers eating brunch and was convinced to try that too. I had the veggie avocado toast brunch item, and my beau had the tuna avocado toast brunch item. Both killer, came with a light salad with the most amazing balsamic dressing, and some fresh cut up fruit for about 12 Euros. Everything was crisply, fresh and vibrant - made to order. Such a cute unique cafe, owned by a husband and wife duo who compliment each other beautifully with their teamwork- and speak great English. The cappuccinos were delicious and topped with cute designs IG worthy. Plenty of cozy seating, outdoor seating available as well. Public, gender neutral bathroom. The baked goods are crazy good, we had many cookies during our time in Paris and this place definitely had the best! Must try the chocolate chip, it's topped with cinnamon and something salty and omg so so so tasty! We loved this place so much we came back once a day for a treat. read more

Absolutely love this cafe, it has everything that you could ever want in a good cafe including wonderful service, amazing food and of course superb coffee (so I hear). The space is beautiful, it feels light and airy yet really homely at the same time, sometimes I worry that I don't feel quite at ease at some of the newer cafes but at Blackburn coffee you can sit for hours chatting undisturbed. The interior highlights include a wall made of planks of wood piled on top of one another. Piles of magazines provide hours of reading entertainment and don't you just find it so inviting when a cafe provides reading material? It's as though they're inviting you to stay for a while to peruse their collection at will. I ordered the granola which was absolutely delicious and I was pleasantly surprised that it cost under 5 euro which is pretty rare for granola in Paris! I've certainly paid through the roof before, in fact at the famed Rose Bakery I think it costs around the 12 euro mark! I hear the coffee is wonderful, although I opted for tea so can't comment there but I suppose you'll just have to go and give it a try yourself ;) they have a juice menu and the juice we tried was freshly squeezed and delicious! read more

What an unexpected treasure. We yelped this wonderful little coffee shop as soon as we stepped off the train in Paris. We arrived early in the morning and were super hungry. Our breakfast was traditional, scrambles and pancakes; they were both amazing. The coffee was delightful and the service was wonderful. This is saying a lot, but I am going to say it: this place has the best lattes in Paris. This little cafe is right between two of the coolest parts of the 10th District (although it is on a street that is not as cool). It is like something you'd find in Brooklyn or Silver Lake... or Paris, evidently. So while all the tourists cram the "Parisian" cafes from the 1920s, you can enjoy the best salads and coffee amid the best contemporary design at this Parisian cafe from the 21st Century. Afterwards you can walk over to Rue Faud St. Martin, or the other way to Rue Lucien Sampaix for other great shops and cafes. And for those with kids: we come with our three little ones and they are as nice as can be (the staff that is, not always the kids). read more

We came here twice. Breakfast was delicious. Eggs one day were scrambled. Served with sourdough toast, salad, coffee or tea and the most incredible freshly-squeezed orange juice. Second day was an egg casserole baked in a cup with layers of what appeared to be cottage cheese or sour cream on bottom, poached eggs and melted cheddar on top. Salad with balsamic, radishes with yogurt and chives and more of the delicious sourdough toast. At least one of the staff spoke English each visit. Free wifi. Highly recommend. Don't waste your money on the breakfast places near the train station. This is the authentic french experience, and you'll be fueled for hours after this stop. read more

My friend and I went here for brunch and coffee. We both had shakshuka and a latte/flat white. The food was great and the coffee was tasty as well. The man and woman who worked there were both super sweet and friendly and spoke to us in English without issue. The atmosphere was cute and relaxed and the music was great. This is a really nice little lunch spot! Definitely a little pricey, but the ingredients are fresh, the specials change regularly and the service is nice enough. A few weeks ago I had one of their salads and I was easily sold since the avocado was actually ripe(something hard to find in paris). Last week I had their goat cheese tartine special that comes with a nice little side salad. Both were between 12-15 euros. I still haven't tried their coffee or desserts (mainly because the food is already beyond a ticket de restaurant) but they definitely look good. read more

This place has the best iced coffee!!! My cousin and I had just landed and checked into our bnb and we had googled previously where there was good coffee and it recommended this place. Because we were hot from moving our luggage up 5 flights of stairs, we opted for the iced coffee and it was deliciousness! They might have used a very high percentage of cream or it was just great coffee bean mixed with a great machine. But it was literally the best iced coffee I had in my life. read more

Came here one morning when we had a bit more time than average, and wanted something a bit more substantial than a croissant. My wife had a spinach and feta quiche, and I had oeufs en cocotte. We also each had a cappuccino. Both dishes came with a fairly substantial salad. Everything was great, if somewhat expensive. The eggs were rich, enhanced with the tang of sour cream or creme fraîche. The quiche was creamy and packed with spinach. Really wonderful place to camp out on a rainy day in Paris! We stopped in for coffee originally as it was steps from our flat, but quickly switched to food as 1. It began to pour and 2. It smelled INCREDIBLE inside. I had a wonderful flat white, my mom really enjoyed her latte. We split the œuf cocotte as a light meal, truly unbelievably delicious. Perfectly cooked egg in a creamy and cheesy sauce, accompanied by a great little green salad. Would have taken a picture but unfortunately we ate everything too fast! The juices looked great as well. I stopped in around 10am with my girlfriend. The coffee is decent (ordered ice coffee) and enjoyed the environment, but the staff is extremely rude at this establishment. I will never go back and hope my experience was an outlier. read more
