Little did we know that we had another great avian specialist right in our new backyard! Dr. Durante and his staff at Algonquin Animal Clinic are wonderful and have taken very good care of my family's pet birds. Most recently our new baby green cheek conure escaped from her cage and got into trouble (and somehow dislocated/tore her lower beak!) Dr. Durante, Leslie and Becca provided great care for our baby bird and provided good advice on how to care for our newly "special needs" bird. Colada is OK now and seems none the worse for wear, but will need periodic beak trimmings--by Dr. Durante, of course!

We have been using these vets for about 15 years, and the staff may change, but the level of care has remained the same. The building is not super fancy or high tech, but the service is, and you don't have to pay super high prices either. They are very good at getting you in if you have an emergency, which we have needed from time to time, but you may want to plan ahead for routine visits.

I've brought my 2 other Yorkie girls Khloe' and Paisley here. Unfortunately they've crossed over…read morethe Bridge. Emory's my 4th Yorkie girl that I bring from Mt Morris. This visit was my chance to tell them how "active" Emory has been. She's runs around the house doing laps at 3:30 am!! I never had to buy calming chews for my other 3 girls. Emory definitely needs them!! Dr. Malone reminded me that she's just a puppy with a lot of energy. A little too much energy for Mommy when the hasn't gone off yet. Emory received 2 vaccinations. Dr. Malone said that she would be a little bit sore. She sure was. Especially when I took her out of her carrier. She slept most of the day. I gave her the follow up medication she gave me the next day. Emory showed no signs, problems or symptoms of any kind after her vaccinations or the follow up medication. At Emory's last visit she weighed 2.6 pounds. A month and a half later, at almost 4 months. She weighs 5 pounds!! Holy Cannoli!! I had to pick my jaw up off of the floor!! The breeder was wrong when he said that she would only get to be 4 pounds. I'm so incredibly happy with the care that Emory gets from everyone at Rochelle Veterinary Hospital. I wouldn't take or trust my fur babies with anyone else.
