They received the best care when we were in SoCal so I was very skeptical trying to find their medical care here. When I first walked into Tyler Vet Clinic it was during Covid and there were a lot of precautions that needed to be taken. Thankfully they were taking new patients. I had my previous vet email all of their medical records and was nervous going in. Dr. Tyler and his team put me immediately at ease. They explained needed vaccines that were not needed California (like for Lyme disease). He took his time and thoroughly examined my boys. He put me at ease. Three years later and we're nearing the end for one of our boys. The care and compassion is still there!!

It is disgusting. This past weekend I was out of state on a family vacation when my 16 year old dog (who has been a patient at this clinic since she was a puppy and was just last seen in Oct of 2024) took a turn very fast, and I had to make the decision to have her euthanized even though I couldn't be there, which is heartbreaking on its own. My parents were caring for her in my absence, and when the in-home euthanasia dr I was hoping could do the procedure (because my last interaction at Mulford was not something I was willing to continue to have. I won't even get into that!) wasn't available they called around in a panic to get my girl out of pain as soon as possible. Naturally they called MAH to get her in since my family has always gone there, my dog was always a patient there, and I worked there previously. While my dog was howling in pain, my dad was told that she was no longer an established patient and would need a visit to be re-established and she would need her rabies vaccine before she could be euthanized and the first available appointment wouldn't be for two weeks out. Because an actively dying dog in pain needs the vaccine, right? When I worked at this clinic under two previous owners I can't even count the number of times I stayed late because an emergency came in (even animals that weren't patients at the clinic). Whether they were dying, injured, or just in distress or pain they were taken care of because we wanted to help the animals. There was no strong arming the clients into having a certain test to receive a medication. There was no requirement to get a certain treatment to be taken care of. There was just a care for a living being who needed help. I completely understand that times have changed, and veterinary clinics are overrun with so many animals needing to be cared for so there have to be some boundaries in place to give proper care to the established patients. I do. But I will never understand how a dog who has been seen for 16 years and was just seen 10 months ago is in pain and dying they have it in their hearts to just refuse to do anything for her. I will never step foot in that clinic again, and neither will the other several family members of mine who have been clients for DECADES. I will tell anyone who asks to run the other direction. By the way, Whispering Willows was able to accommodate us within hours. Their dr came to my house and treated my girl with the dignity and compassion every pet deserves. They even let me facetime so I could be there the only way possible. They deserve 5 stars.

If they had bothered to check on him - like they used to do- if they still were a humanitarian group - how beautiful that would have been. No such luck - now it's all about over selling and giving prescriptions your dog really doesn't need or can't take and paying them

The building is not super fancy or high tech, but the service is, and you don't have to pay super high prices either. He is not available every day but on the days he is here and available for appointments, we have always had great customer service and our dog has gotten excellent care. They offer many services from normal checkups to teeth cleaning, and also have a wide variety of medication available. I suspect it goes up the more exciting your pet makes the visit. Note: hours are limited. Decor is circa late 70s; the building is elderly but maintenance seems adequate and probably budget-draining. Usually clean. No distressing odors in any area. B) Staff is informative and understands? Yes, with caveats; speak clearly, don't shout; either the acoustics are lousy or they are sometimes too distracted to listen - or both. Likewise, listen carefully, ask if something seems unclear. My confusion on a recent issue was cleared up quickly and without genocide. C) Supportive? Mostly. See B. D) Doctor? One. Competent, reserved but thawed after repeat visits. Has sense of humor and steady hands, even after a pet has a panic attack. No idea how he manages panicky owners. E) Location? 11th Street, not far from Benson Stone.
