I recently just got my second tattoo, it was an actual stamp of my dogs foot, she isn't dead but I love her so much I'm willing to put her on my body. Chris Lawrence did my tattoo for me, I will say I was very nervous because it was going to be on the back of my neck. (The first one I got was an elephant on my ankle and I wanted to cry) coming into this I thought it would hurt just as much as my first one. It wasn't as painful as I thought it was going to be and I'm so happy with it. Chris did an amazing job and I'm truly in love with it. The way it's shaded makes it look like my dog stepped on the back of my neck with a semi muddy paw and I couldn't have asked for it to have been any better! Highly recommended read more

Ive gone to a lot of shops and i must say not only is Black Rose clean but they have a really awesome set up in not only the lobby but each room has its own welcoming vibes. Chris Lawrence is an amazing tattoo artist and really does fantastic work. Very detail oriented . Most artists have an attitude and dont listen to the customer. Chris takes his time and makes sure you love it, he'll even help assist you with some ideas as well to make sure youre walking out completely satisfied. I am no longer employed here however during my time here I grew fond of the artists and can personally vouch for the sterility and cleanlyness of the shop. Rene has done an amazing job pulling loose ends together and making this shop the best it could be. As for the artists every single one of them is blessed with amazing talent. Beautiful black and grey work and photorealistic work. I have worked at many shops as a body piercer in Elgin but this is the only shop I ever recommend to those in the Elgin area. read more

After having been dissed by Roselle tattoo, me and my wife went to these guys and it probably was a blessing because Chris Hurdle did my tattoo and I love it! He listened when I wasn't quite happy with the drawing he came up with or he was really cool with me when I kept asking questions during the tattoo. The shop is very clean, the artists are professional and very friendly. Also they are a lot cheaper than Roselle tattoo. They were even willing to help me with my car when I left! read more
