I had Blackshire enclose a patio with vinyl windows. I have had vinyl windows before and liked the ease of opening and the visibility was as clear as glass. This was not the case with Blackshire vinyl windows. The view is blurry and the vinyl they used is much thinner and of a much less quality. I hired Blackshears to redo our screened porch. They came out and showed me several options of screening. We made our choice and I received a written estimate to which we agreed. They thought it would take about 2-3 weeks before they could come out. Turns out they were able to do it 5 days later. Jeremy and Ronnie did a beautiful job and cleaned everything up and put patio furniture back. We are very happy to work with a local family owned company that does such a great job. read more

I used Blackshears for my sunroom gutters about two years ago. I thought they were reasonable...if you are looking for someone to do your gutters on a sunroom with an aluminum roof, make sure it's done right. I had one company come out and they got started and I made them take it down. Called Blackshears and they did it correctly. The price was reasonable! I recommend your downspots are at least 5" wide -- 6 would be better. The leaves leave the gutter must easier. I recommend Blackshears. read more

We had Blackshears install new screen and stainless screws on our Pool Cage. They did a great job, the installers were very professional and every thing was pickup and hauled away. We were a little hesitant to pay the extra to replace all the screws in the frame even though some had already rusted off and you could see others were very rusty. So glad we did, when the crew was replacing some of the screws in the very top of our structure they save a handful and should them to me. I then wondered how it was being held up. We had a kick plate on one of our doors, that had perhaps been kicked to many times. The kick plate was replaced along with all the hardware on both doors. All looks great and we were very happy with the job that was done. read more

Searched the internet for sliding glass door repair and this outfit poped up. Called and asked about get a door roller replaced. They responded with "we don't replace the rollers as there are so many different ones, it would be best if we came out and just replace the whole sliding glass unit. If that wasn't a scam and an attempt to rob me. I have an 18' sliding door unit with four doors. A standard 6' door runs $900 plus install. So @ 3x the size my doors would run around $3500 plus install. So I'm looking at replacing a $5000 door unit or a $6.00 roller plus $60 install. How many seniors have been taken by these hucksters??? read more

I selected Blackshears not only predicated on price, but the outstanding reviews they have received. This transaction was not enjoyable from inception. If you do not wish to do small jobs-however you define that, then be honest from the onset. To accept a job, and offer delivery, and then tell a customer-"I didn't hear from you, and my guys can't wait around"; "you will now go to the back of the line" is absolutely unacceptable. To assume that you can call a customer immediately prior to when you wish to arrive to complete the work is absolutely unacceptable. Be professional-if the job-according to your standards is too small-say so. If you accept a job, do not hold the customer hostage. A disgusting sales person with attitude, and a business that clearly is not in business to satisfy customers. And all the decent reviews-How????? read more

hire them fir two jobs. one was gutters, the other for a sunroom. they quoted over $25,0000 for the sunroom, since it was too much, opted not to do it. since I didn't do the sunroom, they just blew off the gutter job. pretty much useless... unless your paying them $25,000 for a $10,000 job. read more

this company was on the list of recommended contractors, given to me by " top of the world " in ocala. i hired them to enclose the open patio on the back of my villa on two sides with aluminum, screens and a door. this work was completed on july 7th, 2015, and until now, i've been much too disgusted to write a civil review. the two men that showed up to do the work came on a day that rained on and off heavily. naturally, each time that it rained, they went and sat in their truck until it stopped, and they were here quite some time. i don't stand over people when they work, and when they were done, at a glance around, everything seemed to be as it should. the following day when the weather had cleared, and i got to give it a good look, it was a real mess. not only did they leave two screws hanging out from the top rail, but when i tried to tighten them, found that the reason they were hanging is that they weren't anchored into anything but a large empty hole. some of the aluminum that they used was obviously a screw up from another job, as it had been drilled in obvious places and filled with white silicone. finally, when they attached the door sweep to the bottom of the door, they put it too high ( they drilled ) and there is a one inch gap between the door and the slab. these guys are real slobs, and if you want a really great job, call " accent aluminum " i used them at my last house, and they are unbelievably meticulous ! i tried to get them to do the work here, but unfortunately, they said that they don't service ocala..... i tipped these two clowns twenty five dollars each. i learned two things from this experience, yes, stand over people when they work, and don't tip unless you've seen every inch, and are completely satisfied. read more

on 9/4/18 i signed a contract with blackshears to do a small job of installing 30 foot of gutter on the front of the home and approx 16 ft og gutter on the screen room they installed years previous. on the contract, they wrote down 6 weeks until they can get there to do the work. well, i called up sometime later and said the first week in nov. would be better, they obliged. well, after, over TWO MONTHS they decided to do the work. so, the next day i go to pay the bill (11/15/18) i use a citibank card to pay. it was rejected. i do not give a card unless it is good, that was embarrassing! so, i had to use my bank card to pay and drain my account for the month. i am on social security so this was a blow to my savings. so i called the bank to see what was up. the bank called me and said the terminal at blackshears was faulty. that on their end all was ok. so, after all that i am finally done with blackshears. if you want gutters done, go to a handyman do not go to a gutter place, you will wait forever for a small job. it is beneath them to get the job done in a timely manner. and would be less money too!!!! read more
