I went there about a year or so ago and have not been back! I was new to area and looking for a…read moresalon. A Coworker suggested this place. I had a cut and color.I asked do you use Redken dye. They said yes. I asked do you know how to cut curly hair. The lady said yes. I walked in an older woman colored my hair to hide my gray. I have dark brown hair and when she was done it was black! I said don't you want to mix it or match my shade? She said it's a match. There was no conversation, when I questioned her if she knew how to cut curly hair again she said she did. I asked her if she could stack the back do not layer my hair. I had researched alot in cutting naturally curly hair and what I read and told several times with naturally curly thick hair you do not layer it or cut on middle of the curl cut the curl above or below the curl. Well this woman totally ignored my requests. I should of ran and ran fast! But I didn't. It was way too overpriced. When I got in my car and my hair had dried It looked like a mushroom covered in black mold! She left the dye all over the back of my ears and forehead, The mushroom style.... BECAUSE SHE LAYERED IT WHEN I SPECIFICALLY ASKED NOT TO! Needless to say I was able to go to Bo Rics in Big Rapids and got a pleasant college student to fix the hot mess on my melon! She was able to clean up all the dye on my forehead neck and ears. She blended the color using Redken like I asked for from "Bowl Cut Betty" ( that's what I referred to the butcher that ignored my request) Borics was able to clean up the cut and lighten the color and add highlights and low lights to fix my hair. I had to let the layers grow out having to deal with poof that it causes with curly hair. I will say if you are looking for a quick trim, a guy seeking a buzz cut, and/or have straight hair you are safe. But if you want style and color or foils run and run fast! Unfortunately when I went back to the Borics in Big Rapids the miracle worker I went to was no longer there. Parking for Hair Express is horrible! I should of stuck with my stylist in Grand Rapids. Well since then I drive the 60 plus miles to get what I prefer.
