I got a stray cat that both parents were feral and this 3-4 week old kitten showed up in my doorstep in early May. I called for an appointment to make sure it was healthy and no parasites, the earliest appointment was in September and then they put a $50 hold on my credit card in case I cancelled. Some people may not be able to keep money tied up on their credit card for months. The kitten is still playing rough with teeth and claws so I really need it checked and its shots sooner than later. 4 months to get an appointment is unacceptable. My dog got porcupine quills in her nose and they wouldn't even see her, I had to drive to Augusta.

The techs and vet spoke with me at length regarding her extreme anxiety issues, and were kind, gentle, and patient with the pup. The exception (hence 4 and not 5 stars) is the only certified phlebotomist at this facility, who would have traumatized any animal or human with what was quite possibly the worst phlebotomist "skills" I've ever witnessed. I'd be surprised if my pup doesn't have scar tissue in a few legs after the repeated attempts to insert, wiggle around the needle, push it in and out of the pup's body... it almost made me vomit just watching. Then this same person had the nerve to tell me I should bring my pup daily for lunch so she isn't afraid of the vet!! The vet herself was fantastic. She listened to the issues and even discovered a tick borne disease in the pup, and then she prescribed several pills that have given my pup her life back. Very thoughtful and thorough. Worth every penny. Please find a new phlebotomist though, or every animal that goes there will forever be traumatized too.

I recently brought my 9 week old kitten in for ear mite treatment as he was visibly very bothered…read moreby ear mites and I could see inside his ears that they were full of dirty looking substance that are a telltale sign of mites. At the vet, he was given a one time topical treatment that is supposed to eradicate them. I noticed he was still just as bothered by ear mites in the next 2 days following his appointment so I looked in his ears and noticed they were still full of the dirty substance indicative of ear mites. I also googled ear mites treatment for cats and kept reading that cleaning out the ears should be the first step of treatment. I called the office the next morning and told the receptionist that my cat was still just as bothered by the mites and that I noticed my cats ears had not been cleaned out. I also told her that I read online that the first step in treatment should be cleaning out the ears. She told me that they usually clean out animals' ears when treating for ear mites and said she would check his file. She ended up speaking with the vet and the vet said that she didn't clean his ears because they weren't "that dirty" and that I could make an appointment to have his ears cleaned. I told the receptionist that I wasn't going to pay for another appointment to get his ears cleaned when it was supposed to be part of his treatment (as receptionist had already mentioned they usually clean the animal's ears) and I also told her that the vet told her his ears weren't "that dirty" because she chose not to clean his ears. (They look awful inside, this is why I made the appointment.) The receptionist spoke to the vet again and the vet told her to tell me that if I don't like their services that they would be happy to fax my pets' records elsewhere to which I replied "yes please" and we ended the call. So the veterinarian would rather defend her choice of not fully treating my still very affected cat for ear mites than doing the right thing and has now lost a customer with 2 cats. I should also note that the receptionist sounded agitated and to me, the issue is minor compared to what can happen to animals. I can't imagine her being very kind to frustrated pet owners dealing with more serious issues. But maybe she's just fed up with customers calling to complain about mediocre service. This place looks very dated inside. It never felt that good to bring my animals there in the first place (we went a few times for boosters and a neutering of our other cat, starting a few months ago) so this experience is a blessing in disguise. I definitely wouldn't want these people treating my cat for more serious issues.

We would pick her up and she was a "hyper-fit" but soon settled back into our home routine after reassurance, a shower and much brushing. We picked her up yesterday and she was so glad. She was also shining clean and had been brushed out , toenails trimmed (really well). She was less stressed, even when coming home into the house. She was glad to be home as always but way more comfortable with being gone. We had a repair man stop by today, and for the first time ever, she didn't run out barking and trying to scare him off, she was watchfull, but not threatening . Something is off at this place. I took a Pomeranian there and he was put with large dogs. He had…read morerecently had a hind leg fractured, had had expensive surgery and rehab. He was on all 4 legs when I took him in. The pressure from the big dogs or the jumping around badly hurt his leg and now he is on 3 legs. I think I have to start all over again and get him to the surgeon he saw this spring. I cannot put my finger on it, but I suspect the staff has not had training or they lack questioning skills when a new dog is presented. Like a doc's office: is the dog on any medication? has the dog had surgery recently? is the dog allergic to cleaning solutions? Just basic inquiries might have helped determine the small dog should not go with the big dogs.

(Not sure if this happens with every customer). My dog's coat was impeccable and her nails were trimmed perfectly. She had broken a nail the night before on the ice so it was very sensitive. But the groomer made sure the nail was trimmed properly. Overall, a great experience!! P.S. I went here in early March (about 6 mos ago) so the fact that I'm writing this review now shows that this place is seriously amazing and that the experience was so positive, it's hard to forget.

When I asked her to try again, she called another groomer who knows my dog, for suggestions. The Salty Dog groomer then falsely reported to me that the other groomer had removed me as a client. (The other groomer actually offered me an appointment when I called later to see what had happened). The Salty Dog is like a mill - they want the dogs in and out quickly, and when that's not possible, they blame the dog.
