I answered the questions in depth as best as I could and received an email stating there was a "long wait list" but they'd be in touch when they had availability. Over 6 months later, I decided to resubmit my application. This time, I was able to provide more insight to our dog's behavior and show that she had been to training. I received the same email back - they still had our application but had a long wait list. Recently, I was speaking with an acquaintance who happened to be picking up her dog from Zucco's. I admitted my jealously and how I'd been on the waitlist since September. She was confused since she had only recently started bring her pup there and did not have to wait more than a few weeks. She asked what kind of dog I had. I explained we weren't sure since she was adopted from the humane society but we guess she is part pitbull, part lab, and probably many other breeds as well. Well, she mentioned one other person she knows who had a pit mix who was turned away outright from Zucco's. No interview, no meeting the pup, no regard for their demeanor and lack of ANY aggression. Am I to assume this is why I have not received a call? Because I guessed bout my dogs breed?. Or perhaps because she was adopted based on what I've read from other reviews. Either way, I don't appreciate being strung along for nearly a year if they have no intention of even meeting my sweet, tolerant, not-an-aggressive-bone-in-her-body puppy. She was rescued very young and has no history of abuse. I would rather they just tell me "no" than keep me on a wait list indefinitely that doesn't seem to exist for others. I would love to be proved wrong here and still hope to hear from the business but I don't have much hope. *******UPDATE******** Hours after posting my review above I received the email below. Childish. I should also note that my pup was 3m old when I first applied. And bully breeds? How awful. Email: Hi there, We appreciate your interest in Zucco's Dog House. At the Dog House our daycare is now FULL and we are no longer accepting adult dogs. We are only accepting puppies at this time (10-24 weeks). We have also changed our policy on adult dogs if accepted. Adult dogs will be CONSIDERED only if they have been to a previous daycare and if they are not presently attending a local daycare. If at a present daycare we recommend remaining at the present daycare, due to limited space at all local daycares. We have learned through research and experience that high prey drive breeds do not do well with our open concept. These dogs generally go above threshold due to excessive stimulations. Examples of these breeds: Bully breeds, working breeds or herding breeds (German Shepherds, Pitbulls or pit-bull mixes, collies, cattle dogs etc...). These pups generally do better in smaller group play and as we have recommended in the past FireFly Kennels in Dixmont is a great place. 207-852-4560 This email is to let you know that we will no longer be holding your application on our wait list.

The kennel seems to be run by teens with little experience and not much knowledge of pet care. We always used to tune into the pet cams when we were traveling to see our baby and verify that cleaning and care were actually taking place. When we picked up our baby at 2pm there was dried food in her bowl and the kennel looked like it was not cleaned. It has been two years since the pet cams have been working and It gives me an uneasy feeling that this is intentional. We are actively looking for a new kennel and highly doubt we will use this kennel again.

They worked with me to find the optimal location for him in the kennel where he wouldn't have to see dogs and cats. They spent time with him every day and sent me frequent pictures and updates. Bunny diets are not easy but they followed my hay, pellet, treat, and salad feeding instructions so he didn't have any GI disturbances. Everyone I met was so kind, from the staff to the manager to the owner. They all really obviously care about animals and seem to like their jobs. I don't like to leave my bunny behind and avoid it if possible. But sometimes it's unavoidable and I'll be way less worried doing so in the future, knowing that this kennel is nearby.

We have 2 mini goldendoodles and because there are not many groomers in Bar Harbor Maine we had to wait quite a while to get an appointment. The front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. I was checked in quickly and they said they would give me a call when they were finished. I dropped them off around 8:30am and was able to pick them up around 1:30pm. They listened to what I was looking for and did a great job with their hair. They could have went a little bit shorter on the head but overall they looked great! Would absolutely come back when we visit the area again!

Prior to these two, I had a toy poodle and toy terrier both 3 pounds. They went to these groomers as well for 13 and 14 years before passing. Again, they always did an excellent job and my dogs showed no anxiety going there or when leaving. I would highly recommend bangor pet resort and spa. I chose these groomers after another local grooming facility left a 2 inch gash in my 3 pound poodle and did not even notify me of it. I saw it after bringing her home. I called and was given excuses but not not any type of apology. My dogs never returned to that facility. My only concern is that the time they are going to be there is not consistent, ranging from 4 hrs to 6 or 7. However I do understand that there are many reasons it would be difficult to keep a consistent schedule. This concern however does not deter me from taking them there. A few years back, during a heat wave, Heidi actually bought out the local WalMart of kiddie pools for the dogs! The dogs get indoor playtime in the gym. They get outdoor playtime, too. Heidi believes a tired-from-play dog is quieter and less anxious. How right she is. It is rare that we hear repetitive or deafening barking at this kennel. At other places ,the workers often don ear protection before going back to the cages. Their groomer recently gave our 2 dogs the best clips they've ever had. It's saying something when our dogs literally leap out of the back of my car and RUN into the kennel. (We used to have to drag them into Acadia Woods Kennel....that should have been a sign :-( ) Rather than having an adjustment period when our dogs return home, they are settled and normal: it's like they never left.

Two week $896 dollars!!!!! I was already renting the cage, so I was charged for two large cages for two weeks. I called twice to talk to the owner, who was not there when I picked them up. No response, all you can leave is a message, and THEY DO NOT RETURN YOUR CALL! I feel this is bad business. BEWARE of their sneaky price gouging and not being up front with pricing. I will be spreading this news to all my friends with fur babies! Buyer Beware of these unrealistic prices!
