Next door in a new building, I had doubts that a chicken joint deep in rural Georgia could legit be 4.5 stars. But the reputation and rating are accurate - this is excellent chicken. Only open for drivethrough during COVID, my RV and I got in the queue and managed to avoid hitting any of the overhangs when placing and picking up my order. Despite having to shout at the speaker (I'm quite a distance away!), they understood my order and had me pull around. At the pickup window, I stepped out (mask on!) to exchange my credit card for my lunch. All staff I could see through the window were also wearing masks. In a good place nearby because I have a table and plates in the RV, I unwrapped and dug in. Eight mixed pieces of chicken (two legs, two thighs, two full wings and two breasts), they were delicious. Saving most for dinner, of course! Juicy, flavorful and cooked properly. Very light on the breading, so good for keto. I did need a bit of hot sauce to kick up the flavor (bottle of Texas Pete in the RV https://www.yelp.com/biz/tw-garner-food-company-winston-salem-2?hrid=RMwxhBuzuPzMQY06ZMG-mg) but it was great stuff. The cole slaw was very good and while I support unique recipes, I'm not sure if I like it with pickle relish in there. The only ding in this otherwise perfect meal. Those of you not from the South let me warn you the sweet tea is SWEET and the lemonade is too but it is dang good and i miss it dearly. Just get a side of water and cut it as needed, if you cant take it Did i mention the corn nuggets. Be aware those things are addictive and may have you taking long detours to get more. Five gigantic stars for five gigantic, hand breaded chicken tenders, two sides, bread, and a drink for $6 from a walk up shack across the street from the Piggly Wiggly. Oh how I love South Georgia. The only thing that was better than the chicken finger deal was the fried chicken thighs. As a fried chicken purist, I appreciate those places that offer skin and bone on chicken pieces, and those from Blakely Chicken do not disappoint. There's no menu, but I can whole heartedly recommend the fried okra (some of the best I've ever had) and fried corn nuggets (why does it seem like every chicken shack in Georgia offers these? See my review of the Big Chick in Washington, GA for proof). French fries looked fine, but at a place with this much character, I consider that a cop-out side. We frequent Blakley Chicken (Mr. Chicks) when ever we visit relatives and while I attended high school in one of the nearby counties. We were used to the small drive up hut staffed by several mature and polite ladies. It was nice to see that they expanded and have a bon-i-fide restaurant. I attended my cousin's funeral on July 3, 2018 and prior to our departure we visited the restaurant for our favorite comfort food (Chicken)!!! I walked thru the side entrance and came to the counter. There were two ladies preparing an order. They did not greet me, and their backs were turned for at least 3 minutes before the younger lady came to the register. I asked for 24 chicken wings. The young lady replied; "24 wings? You must like wings'" I said yes. The price is listed but for some reason she did not comprehend or acknowledge the price listing or how to impute the order. The other lady came to the register and for some reason did not know how to input the order. Several minutes later the light bulb comes on and they communicate the order to the cook. He had a strange look on his face, so I said please and thank you. He had to cook the chicken. I went out the restaurant to organize the vehicle for the trip home. We departed, and I tasted one of the wings and noticed that it was a little salty, but I ignored it. We let the chicken cool and noticed that all the chicken was salty to the extreme. We thru the chicken out in Tifton. I spent a little over $40 for the order. We were polite but received poor service and food quality. How dare this man (The cook) think it is ok to purposely over season food! I think the owners should restaff and retrain. Please look forward to a visit from the health board. The employees are extremely rude and racist towards white ppl. My friend was standing in line behind a black guy who ordered the exact same thing, but they charged my white friend more for the same order. He complained to the manager and was assured that would never happen again. Also, if you call in an order, make sure you ask for condiments like hot sauce or honey mustard because they will raise hell if u ask for it when you get there because they charge you for it. Found this little walk-up stopping spot on google maps while traveling to FL from Cartersville, GA. Met one of the owners and chatted while our food was prepared TO ORDER. Very nice guy. Chicken strips and fries are fantastic, but the Mac and cheese is scrumptious y'all! Portions were generous and staff was friendly. Regret not ordering some pie after tasting the food.
