I have been going to the 49th St heart institute for at least 8 years and credit them for me still…read morebeing alive. I had my first heart attack in the late 90's and modern medical has allowed me to live a fairly normal life compared to my Dad who died at age 37 of his first heart attack. Dr Sanchez is my lead Doc and I grade him an A+, but I needed a double ablation for AFib for that last year and Dr Sheppard did that 8 hour procedure that was successful and I grade him and his team an A+. All of the test for the ablation, showed my bad heart valve finally needed replaced and a TAVR was performed by Dr Jabbars team about a year ago. It was done in a new Operating Room room in Northside hospital and I could have been in the Mayo clinic. It is outfitted with the latest screens, lights etc and a huge staff as they need a complete surgical team to stand by in case of complications. There were over 20 people involved and that was a very easy procedure on me as they use a cath and an overnight stay only. My only gripe and it is huge, is the HCA billing system. I have group insurance and am over 65 so I have medicare part A. HCA refuses to send my Explainations of Benefits statement of what BCBS pays so medicare can consider my inpatient hospital bills. It has cost me huge amounts due to my high deductible and high co pay. Medicare Part A will coordinate for inpatient if only HCA would cooperate. HCA now owns the Heart Institute so if has affected all of my bills to the tune of about $30k out of my pocke over a period of about 4 months. btw- I have often been late (from reviews) as I leave from work and get tied up and never had my appt cancelled. I had to wait longer than normal when late but always have been seen and I have likely had about 50 appts as a patient of 4 different cardiologists there as well as Heather Tate who is also a A+.

Despite multiple attempts--through the patient portal, phone calls, and follow-ups--I have been repeatedly redirected without resolution. Each interaction has left me feeling dismissed, and at times I have been met with annoyance and rudeness. This has been extremely frustrating, especially given the urgency of my son's needs. Tyler requires this signature within 30 days in order to access his AAC device, which will be set up by his school and speech therapist. This device is essential for his communication and development. I have clearly explained this timeline and importance, yet my concerns do not appear to be taken seriously. I am now having to take a day off work and pull my son out of school just to attend an appointment for this matter. Tyler's primary care physician has been wonderful; however, my experience with the MyChart portal and some staff interactions has been much less positive.

It is sad to read the bad comments about this place and I feel the pain of Families precicely because how important children are and what they expect from any hospital which is safety and health for their children not negligence nor discrimination, even less to deny medical help. but that is not what I have seen and experienced since coming here from the age of 10 years old. I will not lie, I have experienced some encounters with some rude Doctors or nurses that may not be as sweet and gentle as others however, so have I seen Nurses sitting there for hours at 12 am in the morning filling out information on a computer and Doctors Rushing doing their work. This is not an easy job and I thank them for enduring so much difficulties, so precisely for that, even if they may be not feeling great, I appreciate that the staff does their Job the best that they can. I wish that God may fill their lives and help them help people everyday and be able to withstand the great Cross of Being in the medical field for the cross everyone must bear and carry. Also, last time I came in an emergency, I walked with my father to a emergency room full of sick Children waiting to be admitted and the staff was trying their best to get everyone the help the needed, yet ¿how many Children can this Hospital take? As much as I wish that Everyone was admitted immediately, unfortunately The staff can only try their best, I entrust all the Children in this Hospital to the Will of God, Trust in him and his Mother. Parents, As hard as things get, be there for thy Child for so will Our Pater Noster be for he is thy father whom loves all with a perfect love, as said in the book of Isaiah and yes, even if its very painfull. There is a purpose for suffering. May God bless all the Doctors and continue to work through them to keep giving life to children.

I've never heard anybody talk to my father in such a derogatory patronizing voice . After MAKING my father get up on the examination table against his wish( he is unstable and has as fallen), she drilled my father about things that should have been in his computerized records including tests that were ordered by his doctor. It was completely ridiculous as if the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing! After she left, it was almost an hour of waiting before I helped my father off the table and into his walker seat. All I have to say is treat people like they matter to you want to be treated... You would want the same for your family.
