Complete neglect. If you go by ambulance, be prepared to wait in the waiting room because that's exactly what happened to my girlfriend. It took 24 hours to get admitted onto the floor, just to be neglected. I will be bringing her to the hospital in Tampa from now despite the distance. I wouldn't bring my worst enemy to Northside. If you want proper care for you or your loved ones, do not go to Northside hospital! Dr. Ondracek was unconcerned about my girlfriend's condition. He did not do an assessment on her and jumped straight to discharge without even addressing her complaints. He has no business being a doctor. read more

I came to ER under doctor orders to be evaluated for a potential emergency. The ER did great and got me in a room very quickly. I informed them of my Allergies and they kept an eye on things when I had a reaction. When they ordered pain meds, they brought morphine and I told I had an allergy to morphine. They did not administer pain meds at this time, waiting on orders. I was admitted and put in a room overnight. The bed had feces on it which transferred via liquid to the sheets I was sitting on. I had to get out of bed and have it cleaned. I found actual brown smear of feces on the tray table. The night nurse was nice but super busy and their computers were down for 4 hours over night. I was given meds that did not help and then nothing for 10 hours. I laid in pain with false promises of something to help. The day nurse (Geffrey) talked to me with disrespect and treated me as though I was a drug addict. He told me that I couldn't get meds bc I was from out of state.. I've lived here full time four years and own 4 properties here. When the attending doc came around, I heard the day nurse talk to the attending and told him that I was being irrational and "coming at" him. They brought 4 people in the room to talk to me about meds and told me I could take Benadryl with Morphine to counter a traction. I finally agreed bc I'm in pain and needed something for 10 hrs at this point. I had a lovely reaction with hives and cried uncontrollably for about 45 minutes. See photo. I want to especially thank nurses Elena and Aida, originally from Bosnia. WONDERFUL nurses!!! Compassionate, caring, patient, and always very serving & a smile. So unhappy with my ER visit. I felt like they held me hostage, overnight just to finally get an MRI to be certain that I didn't have a stroke. They kept lying to me about how it would be 'any time now' and then admitted me overnight with the promise that it would happen in the morning. It didn't. I was there again all day long. Terrible care. Was taken there by ambulance after falling. My face was bleeding and I had a nasty cut by eye. They didn't clean the blood off my face, or stitch my laceration. Was wearing a long sleeve jacket, when I got home the peripheral intravenous catheter was still in my hand. The only useful thing they did was a CT scan which showed nothing. Needless to say, often you can not pick an ER. But if you need one, hope they don't take you to Northside. Rarely write reviews. But think they can do better. read more

The parking situation is abominable. Cars are lined up on all the curbs and there is NO available parking anywhere in the complex. I was told by Kenny that after 8:30am the lot is always full. That cost them a star on this visit. The electronic check-in was quick and easy. At my request, Kenny even printed out a copy of the forms for my records. I was scheduled for a CT scan and bloodwork. Back in January my doctors found a small ulcer on my aorta. I was told it was tiny and would probably heal on its own. My heart doctor wanted to see if it had healed so ordered the CT scan and argued for it with my insurance to get the test approved. The receptionist for the X-Ray department, Jessica, was pleasant and efficient. She explained everything that was going to happen clearly, then handed me off to Terrika, who has a very sunny disposition. Since Northside Hospital is a teaching hospital, Terrika had a student named Emily watching. Terrika stabbed me so quickly there was no pain. She then drew 3 vials of blood faster than I can type about it. I have had blood taken many times over the years, and can definitely say Terrika is the best I've had at drawing blood. I hope Emily was paying attention because she couldn't learn from anyone better than Terrika! Then I needed to wait a while for the bloodwork results. While I was waiting, Emily came by and fixed up an IV for the dye so that I would be able to go into X-Ray as soon as the bloodwork was processed. She wasn't as good at stabbing as Terrika, but Emily had a tougher job since her IV was for adding the dye instead of withdrawing blood. After all that, the CT scan itself was almost an afterthought. Martin the X-Ray tech was friendly and informative. I was in and out of Northwest Hospital in less than two hours. read more

This is the second review I'm putting up on northside. They took down my first one. I believe I went down on October 18, 2025 to emergency room for full body numbness and tingly. They did a brain scan a chest x-ray and your blood and unhooked me and escorted me to the exit telling me I didn't have a stroke and I have a good night and when I asked them what's wrong with me they said well you didn't have a stroke. Have a good night and sent me out of there and weeks later after going to my primary and getting a referral to Saint Anthony's neurology they find that I had C3 and C4 compressing a nerve and I needed an emergency surgery if northside would've taken the time and down in MRI I wouldn't have nerve damage today. That whole staff is worthless useless and good for nothing that Hospital should be closed down and condemned because they have no clue on how to treat people they have no professionalism. They're good for nothing. One star is too good for them. read more

I recently had to have surgery (Cervical Fusion), and it was scheduled at Northside Hospital. Very competent and friendly staff, helped me get to where I needed to be.. when I arrived. Got all of the paperwork and such done quickly. I was very comfortable with the care I received. The nurses in recovery and on the floor, were great. They really seem to go out of their way to try and make me happy. The only food had there was a pre-selected breakfast, and it was ok... not great. I would recommend Northside to anyone... they treated me very well! read more

My experience at Northside was extremely disappointing. First, I fell at Publix and hit my head. When I told the paramedics what happened, they looked at me directly and called the hospital to say I might be having a stroke. I'm a healthy woman with no underlying health issues. When I arrived at the hospital, I noticed my personal belongings, including my phone and purse, were missing. It took over an hour for them to give me my phone and purse back. When I checked my purse, I saw that some money and a few cards were gone. I immediately told the staff in the emergency room that my money was missing and that an investigation should be done. They didn't say anything about my missing money and I was discharged yesterday. Now that I'm home, I realize I left my wallet in Room 345, and I've called both last night and today, but no one has answered or found it. The emergency room care was very unorganized and chaotic. The nurses and staff were on their phones and not paying attention to the patients. When I finally got to my room, the night nurses were excellent. Andre, the main nurse, was very punctual and checked on me to make sure I wasn't in pain. However, the day nurses were not responsive and didn't hear me when I called for help. This hospital needs to be investigated. I'm very upset about my missing belongings and the poor care during the day shift. Also, I believe the doctors are not being honest--I don't understand how they can dismiss a diagnosis and still say that's the reason I was there. I'm planning to contact my lawyer about everything. read more

This is the worst hospital in Pinellas Park. Stay far away. My dad was there for three weeks, and the lack of communication between nurses was unbelievable. They moved him out of CVICU way too soon, and the nurse assigned to him -- David -- literally went to lunch and didn't check on my dad for hours. For almost a month, we watched him be neglected. They would take 40 minutes to an hour just to clean him after he used the bathroom because he couldn't do it himself. The nurses acted like the patients were an inconvenience. It felt like nobody cared -- just people collecting a paycheck. The doctor who originally helped my dad told us he would recover and be back to himself, but the way this hospital handled him destroyed any chance of that. They didn't turn him, they didn't move him, and he ended up with bed sores on top of everything else. Our family will never forget how badly he was treated here. Nobody deserves the carelessness and disrespect we witnessed. read more

I recently experienced a stroke and was hospitalized at Northside Hospital. My experience with the ER staff there was exceptional. I received the best care from everyone...........I highly recommend this hospital and give the entire staff HUGE KUDOS for being so professional and caring. The nurses and doctors were fantastic throughout my husbands recent surgery. They were working more with less right after Hurricane Milton and Largo Medical closed die to flooding . diabetic care was poorly treated! I've never seen anything like it. Sun march 16. All the bells and whistles were going off in my room because my heart monitor was not on, because the nurse SH was busy braiding the other nurses hair. She knew I saw her so she made a big deal of it so she wouldn't get in trouble. Dr.Paul Richard's could Not even remember what I was there for and never gave me my blood results. They told me to leave and go to CVS. I told them I TOOK A UBER AND COULD NOT DRIVE! they let me, a 60 yr old woman leave that hospital emergency room with ZERO CARE. they told me where the bus stop was as they watched me walk through the parking lot home and laughed. my heart rate was 140. 3 uniformed officers watched from the emergency room exit/entrance without assistance. I called 911 and filled a report with their superior when I made it to 46th Ave N. because I wasn't sure I could make it home. I just kept walking and finally made it home. Worst Hospital Ever! We just had to pay a bill of $2000, even though we had already paid 100% of our deductible and out of pocket. No communication whatsoever, the bill was questioned and the hospital was going to go back to the insurance company. Then, we here from a collection agency? They did dialysis on the first day and for these other two days I have been sitting here new food Water or medication. I feel like a prisoner at the hospital right now. I came in on Thursday at 1pm for headache and throwing up. They kept me there all day. Asked me a question then leave for a couple hours, it keeps repeating till 8pm. I was told I was getting a room but no one came to get me till 11pm. The first night they treated my vomiting but the headache was still there. All of Friday it was the same, I keep complaining about my headache and they keep giving me the same medicine for past 2 days that didn't work. On Saturday I wanted to go home because they are not doing anything. By Saturday I'm just sitting in my room not getting much attention, just the 2 hours routine check, my food and water. They say I need to stay for treatment but there wasn't any. They say I have to sign a paper saying that I refuse medical advice if I wanted to leave. What medical advice? I'm still in my pain and they are just keeping me here to run up the insurance bill. So sad that this is the medical treatment that I'm getting. Hospital don't give a crap about their patients. I was told the doctor would sign my discharge papers by 5:30pm, he didn't. Its 2:30am and I have seem or heard from any of them since the shift changed. read more

I was an outpatient twice last week for procedures. I cannot say enough about staff and facility on both occasions! From having COVID testing day prior to first procedure through being discharged on second day, everyone very compassionate, understanding, gentle, respectful of privacy, and knowledgeable of what I was going to be experiencing. As busy as this facility can become, never felt overlooked. If asking any questions, had full attention of the professional I was speaking with. Could sense a strong team effort on the part of staff and how well they all coordinate their duties. Being a teaching hospital, had opportunity to observe our much needed up and coming medical professionals, who were also treated with respect and patience. All I can say, this hospital met my needs 100%! read more

That typical cold, long, late night ER wait was not the only problem going on here... Let me start by saying that this place unsanitary AF! I'll spare the details on why I came here and how they treated my case. (Ok. They completely ignored my main concern which ultimately lead me to seek treatment elsewhere). But back to the big red flag here that speaks for just how bad this place really is: 1. Large amounts of dried up blood all over the bathrooms (which are far worse than a public restroom at a Shell gas station deep in the "hood"). 2. Urine samples that go uncollected from patients that have to sit with them IN FRONT of the other patients. Disgusting and embarrassing. 3. Patients are having blood drawn and being treated directly in front of one another. Forget about Covid protocols while being screened! Which leads me to my next claim: 4. The lack of privacy especially when they do the X-ray and have registration come in and collect extremely personal and private information from patients. (Keep in mind that you are in the same tiny room with other patients while being treated.) Yeah, I picked up on someone's SSN loud n clear while I was half asleep from boredom. 5. All the dropped and improperly discarded needles, gloves, packaging, tape monitoring electrodes, just a bunch of medical stuff that never makes it to the trash. It just sits there for hours as staff go about unbothered to clean it up. The whole place is filthy! That's pretty sad for being a hospital of all places. The rest of my experience was miserable on top of being in such conditions. I felt nervous having them even touch me. Do they wash their hands after dealing with another patient? Probably not since 2 bathrooms had 0 soap! Also, I'll just add that when I was discharged I almost walked out with an IV still stuck in my arm. Saw someone else here mention it happening with them too. Likely if you're reading this, your experience was no better. If not and you're just checking reviews, you've been warned. read more

Immediately when I walk in the ER an employee lady yells at me "put on your mask, both of you!!" No greeting, or nothing. I'm vaccinated and have manners so not sure why she came at me with that attitude. I honestly am in so much pain and I left because There was too many people ahead of me and my back hurts too much to sit in those chairs and wait. The people in front of me weren't even there for emergency situations. My 91 year old mother had some unexpected passing out and irregular breathing... 911 called, paramedics responded in 7 mins. She flatlined within 45 seconds of their arrival, they resuscitated her and took her to Northside Hospital. ER was great, they checked her into CVICU, they determined a blood clot passed, caused the coronary, got stuck in her lungs. With 36 hours she was moved to 3rd floor heart unit. She received amazing care, so many WONDERFUL Nurses (Maria, Anne, Lourdes, Waylyn, Gwen in CVICU), CNAs (Daniel), Drs and even the housekeeper (Rosebud), were so sweet, accommodating and wonderful with my Mom and our family! She's leaving today and while she's ecstatic to go home a week later, she confided in me that we was going to miss some of these wonderful people! THANK YOU NORTHSIDE!!! I was brought here early Monday morning with an apparent stroke. The nursing staff was amazing. The doctors however were not so much. I was released without a diagnosis, action plan for my condition or really any answers from the doctor. The doctor's bedside manner could definitely use some serious work. At the time I was released he told me they did not have a neurologist as their neurologist was on PTO. I could either wait around in bed for the neurologist to get back or get released to see own neurologist. I did exactly that. I asked them for my records to take to another hospital and they refused. So I went to Bay Pines. Bay Pines was incredible! They had to redo all of my tests I had just completed at Northside as Northside would not send my records after 3 sperate requests signed by me for Bay Pines to submit. Bay Pines was able to diagnose and treat my stroke quickly. They set me up with all the necessary medications, therapy and aftercare. I am convinced that the doctors at Northside are simply there for a paycheck and really have no genuine concern for their patients. The nursing staff was absolutely incredible and did a far better job than the doctor I saw. They knew more of what was going on with me than the doctor cared to share. Do not go to this hospital for a stroke!!! Beware! They do not know what they are doing. Plus, how can a hospital run without a neurologist on staff? I thought that this was a requirement for an institution of their accreditation. It is pretty sad really. For years I was told that this hospital was one of the best for things of this nature. I guess they lost that somewhere over the years. One of the staffs parting words to me was that this hospital is a "jankity hospital". That speaks volumes about Northside new reputation. read more

son went in for to have his Gallbladder removed on Friday 12 17 2021. Saturday afternoon the attending doctor stated he should stay another night because of his pain level. Not 30 minutes later another doctor called - didn't even bother to come and see him and informed her was being discharged. 10 minutes later the nurse arrived with security informing my son he had 5 minutes to leave. My girlfriend and I went to the ER at Northside Hospital. My girlfriend had fallen and broke a crown when she hit her head on the ground. The first question the nurse asked her was "do you smoke meth?" When I arrived they all but implied that I beat her up and knocked her tooth out. We were both treated as if we were drug addicts and criminals. Humiliating. Gave her a shot of antibiotics and released her. No blood work. No labs. We went to Bayfront ER. They drew blood. Admitted her. 3 blood transfusions. IV fluids. CT scan on her head. Transferred her to Moffitt cancer center where she will begin chemotherapy for leukemia. Nice job Northside. If you have to go to the hospital and have a choice... Go-to Bayfront Health. They were wonderful. read more

I went in this morning for a colonoscopy. I was greeted with a friendly smile by the female security guard sitting at the front desk. She introduced me to a polite gentlemen who took my admitting information. After a short wait, a friendly intern took me back to the OR. I told her I was a little concerned because this was the first time that I was going to have a procedure done at a small hospital. She said that being small was an advantage, everyone knew everybody and they all worked well as a team. She handed me off to a nurse who told me that she was going to be with me all the way. The staff and doctors were all cordial and professional. They answered all of my questions and quickly put me at ease. I rarely give out praise, but I am giving the team at Northside five stars.
