I had stair railings fabricated and installed by Ramon and his crew in late 2025 as part of a full home renovation. Ramon specifically advised that the new railings would be built to meet current residential code requirements and would be taller than the originals. The pricing was reasonable, and based on that guidance, we moved forward. At final inspection, the railings failed. They were built approximately 1 inch below the required height, which required additional work on my end to bring them into compliance. I reached out multiple times to Ramon and his shop lead, Mario, to address the issue, but received no response. I ultimately had to resolve the problem myself to pass inspection. Separately, the quality of the wood caps was below expectations. Scratches upon install and a very poor job staining the wood. I had an urgent need to install an outdoor gate because of some issues with a neighbor trespassing onto my property. I reached out to a lot of fabricators, and Ramon from Blanco Welding was the only one who responded quickly, even on a Sunday, and took the time to actually listen and understand what I needed. From our first phone call, he asked the right questions, understood the urgency, and even gave me a rough quote right away. The quote was extremely fair. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but absolutely worth it for the level of attention and service. I'll be honest. I definitely gave Ramon a bit of a runaround in the beginning. I was unsure if I wanted to go with a fabricator I had used before, unsure of the design, unsure of the specs, and basically back and forth for almost a month. Through all of that, Ramon stayed patient, respectful, and never pressured me. He helped me think through weather factors, climate, long term durability, and what was genuinely needed versus overkill. We went over gauge, weight, measurements, and even used drawings and AI mockups to make sure we were 100 percent aligned. Ramon takes direction very well, but he also gives logical, thoughtful feedback. I originally wanted a much heavier gauge steel, and he explained why it wasn't necessary. I'm glad he did, because the final gate is perfect. What I appreciated even more was the transparency throughout the entire fabrication process. They sent me photos while they were building the gate, photos of the gate after metallizing, and photos after powder coating. And something I absolutely did not expect -- before metallizing and powder coating, they actually brought the raw fabricated gate to my home, hung it temporarily, and let me see it in person to make sure the design felt right. That level of effort and communication is extremely rare and truly made me feel confident. The final product turned out exactly how I wanted. The timeline took a little longer, but that was due to delays on my end, not theirs. I also want to mention this. After our first consultation, I read some of the older reviews and honestly got nervous. But after going through the process myself, I believe a lot of those reviews come from unrealistic expectations or misunderstandings about metal fabrication. Steel reacts to weather, weight, movement, and climate. It will expand, contract, or shift slightly over time. That is not the fabricator's fault. That is metal and nature. My experience with Ramon was the opposite of what I feared. Clear communication, patience, transparency, honesty, and a willingness to make sure I understood every part of the process. Installation went well. The only piece of feedback I have is just clearer communication about the exact arrival time, but once the team was here, the installation was clean and done well. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the gate and with the entire experience. Ramon has definitely earned more business from me. His pricing is fair, his work is solid, and he genuinely cares about his customers getting the right thing. To anyone reading this, my advice is simple. Do your due diligence and understand the material you're buying. If you choose a thin gauge steel, it will behave like thin gauge steel. If you don't powder coat, you may get rust. The very first time I met him, he demanded a $1700 payment for supplies. He then made up a story about coming to my property with his fabricator to take precise measurements. My fiance & I hired him to install two side gates for us which he did on 8/9/25, & what followed was an absolute nightmare of incompetence, dishonesty, & zero accountability. The welding job was embarrassingly sloppy--something I'd expect from a first-time hobbyist, not someone charging professional rates. We paid an extra $100 for automatic door closers that were not even installed that day. Despite reaching out repeatedly, Ramon left our messages on "read" for weeks, dodging responsibility at every turn. Only after I called him did he reluctantly agree to commit to finishing the job--but of course, he didn't show on the agreed date (Friday 9/5). Instead he appeared days later on 9/9, botched the installation of one auto-closer & left holes in the metal gate. His solution? Promise to return & "fix it later". Unsurprisingly, he didn't. We had to chase him down again. When I confronted him about the damage & rightfully asked for partial reimbursement, he hung up on me. Eventually he did drag himself back on Sunday 9/14, & when I requested a refund for the auto-closers, his laughable response was "But I'm here fixing it now?" Fixing it? The gate had four noticeable holes, patched with wood putty (reminder the gate is METAL), then lazily spray painted in a futile attempt to hide the damage--it did not. To call this unprofessional is an understatement. Instead of taking responsibility, Ramon deflected, made absurd offers to "build a new gate" (as if we could trust him to ever return), lied about not having a way to send a refund & generally argued as though we were in the wrong for expecting quality work. Only after an exhausting 20 minutes of standing our ground did we finally wrestle a partial refund out of him--money that should have been offered without question given the abysmal job. His dismissive comment that I should "run my own business if I wanted things done differently" says it all: Ramon has no grasp of customer service, no pride in workmanship, & no reliability whatsoever. I was never the one asking you to redo the gate--you offered that as an alternative to issuing a refund. My response was that if you were going to redo it, you should also provide a partial refund, because the $3,200 gates we paid for were supposed to be flawless, not riddled with mistakes. You single-handedly destroyed your own work by drilling the auto-closing springs incorrectly and then--by your own words--did "a Mickey Mouse job" trying to fix the damage. That's not bullying; that's me holding you accountable for failing to deliver on a multi-thousand-dollar job. When a customer pays $3,200, they expect perfection. You didn't deliver. You also conveniently leave out that you did in fact charge extra for the springs. I debated whether they were worth the cost (spoiler: they weren't). Claiming otherwise is just another example of your dishonesty. & as for your favorite excuse of being "out of town" or "out of the country"--it shows up in nearly all of your negative reviews. If that's truly the case, then hire someone who can communicate with your customers in your absence. It's called running a business responsibly. You say you didn't "give in," yet you refunded $150 of the $200 I requested--because you knew you were in the wrong. & let's clear this up: you weren't even present at the installation, so how could you possibly claim we were "happy" when it was done? Needless to say, once the gate was installed, my experience was horrible at getting them to correct the horrible mistakes and workmanship. Do not use this company! I hired Ramon to build and install two gates. It all started off just fine. They built the gates and installed them however they installed the wrong type of deadbolt and Ramon said he'd correct the issue. Now he wants to charge me extra for the type of deadbolts we agreed on in the first place. To make matters worse within just a month of the installation one gate will no longer latch because the installation wasn't done right. After numerous calls and texts they finally sent someone out to correct everything. Their solution was to install little tabs so the gate latches. They didn't install the correct deadbolts either. No they want to charge me $400 to get the gate to latch. Ramon has blocked my number and blocked me on Facebook. Again do not use this company! Horrible and unethical. Responding to Ramon's reply. He initially installed silver knobs and deadbolts. I was always supposed to get black that's when he came back and installed black ones. It was later that day when I got home that I noticed they weren't keyed on both sides and asked him about it and he said he'd find some. Look at the text thread. This guy is a scammer. He's supposed to be the expert and he attaches a gate to a wall that shifts and claims it's not his responsibility even though he should have known this wasn't the best way to install them.
