My mind was all over the place, but the office staff was friendly, professional and efficient, which made me feel more at ease. They offered to send the records of my visit to my primary care doctor back home, as well as my eye doctor. Something I wouldn't have thought of until later. My visit was with Dr. Elms, who is calm, warm and knowledgable. She made me feel very comfortable, as well as confident in her shingles expertise. I felt looked after like a mother would her child, she showed genuine care and concern. She told me about how the nerves ran, and she cautioned me about how things could progress and worsen, and what to watch out for in the coming days. But, when you get to the billing/ordering of contacts or glasses your experience greatly decreases. At the end of each of my appointments the lady at the billing desk has been less than pleased to be speaking with me and others I know who also go to this eye doctor. She is very kurt and it's seems like a hudge chore for her to do anything or help with any questions you may have. When it comes to billing/ working with insurance companies customers will often have questions. For example I was under the understanding that if I ordered contacts at my appointment I didn't have to pay my co-pay and so I ordered more contacts, and she ultimately agreed with me that that is how it works. Even though I had to ask her to order more contacts for me as she wasn't planning on doing so and just immediately asked for the copay amount. Once I ordered my contacts and asked another few questions she still asked for the copay. I admit at this point I was a little confused so I went ahead and payed it and didn't realize until after I didn't need to. Another person I know who wanted to order some new glass lenses for their eyeglasses, and needed to choose whether or not to have the lenses thinned. When they were asked for payment immediately from the billing lady they were confused as they thought it was covered by insurance. Instead of explaining that although they were covered the 'thinning' of the glasses was not. She used a unique term for 'thinning' and then stated it wasn't covered no further explanation. When the patient further inquired what that term meant the lady at the billing desk huffed and turned around to ask another lady at the front desk "how would you explain ----". In general even the most common and basic of questions seems to be a great imposition for her to answer. Just know you will likely be met with a rude attitude when you so inconveniently ask any questions. I have continued to go here due to how lovely the rest of the staff and doctors are here, and it's really just an unfortunate end to your visit. I am honestly on the fence as to whether or not I will keep going here, as the billing portion of my appointments are a continuous issue. I have waited a long time to leave a review about this because I wasn't sure if it was just me. Maybe my questions were really too difficult or something. But after hearing similar experiences from others I was prompted to write a review.
