The parking lot is huge and gravel, and there is a bathroom area out front. From there, the property goes back pretty far and has a nice charm to to it. There are huge open areas and pretty bridges. The trails are clearly marked and the map out front helped me plan my route. I did a blue trail that is just over 4 miles called Wildcat. It ran in one direction on certain days and the opposite on others. It was harder than I thought, but I enjoyed the challenge. The scenery was great except for when it backed up to a neighborhood, but otherwise you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere.

Take your pick from 35 miles of well-maintained trails, ranging from 1-mile loops to open fields and advanced bike runs, while resting along the way on those sparse strategically-placed benches. Or just sit down in a field as you gaze at a horizon ready for you to explore. Home to several high-profile circuit bike races and high school cross country meets spring through fall, there's still plenty of time for the rest of us to do less-professional type activities, as fast- or slow-paced as desired. Park volunteers continuously improve the trails and a decent county support system helps make this a gem on the northwest edge of Cobb County. You shouldn't be surprised to see a few out-of-state plates in the lot here throughout the week with the biking trail selection. Weekends are packed as far as parking goes but still manageable if you squeeze in somewhere. Once you're out in the woods you still might go miles without seeing a fellow traveler. Five sections range from 4 to 10 miles depending on the loops, so plan on minimum 45 mins walking or running headed off in any direction. News flash, yes there really is an Allatoona Creek. Head toward the back on the main gravel road through the big field and you'll eventually hit the back bridge. Gaze at the sometimes more than trickling creek on your way toward the loop touching the outer edge of Lake Allatoona. Grab a pit stop at the buildings on your way out because there's only the "historical" bathroom variety on the trail otherwise. A few picnic tables allow for food breaks by the parking lot as well, but mainly this park is built for munching an energy bar halfway through the course. Late September through December is hunting time, with hunters-only till 10 AM Sept-Oct, and all day Nov-Dec. Fear not trail-lovers, park at Pitner Dog Park Nov-Dec to enjoy 4-5miles of Turtle Back and Red Baron without sniper fire. Directional markings for different days keep the traffic flowing in opposite directions, and foot traffic can trade tire tracks on your backs for poison ivy on your ankles as you go against bike traffic. No parking fees is a welcomed oasis among fee-based national parks nearby, for those primarily enjoying the trails instead of history. You could come six days a week and hit a different section if you liked. Stay motivated as you pass several HS XC teams practicing afternoons in the fall, and parking donations for meets and races help keep the park in excellent shape (along with that crop of helpful volunteers). No worries if you're visiting on a race day; you can still park and visit for no charge. I'm amazed I live about a 5K from here. Having a premier regional trail destination within a 6-min drive is a bonus I try to frequent as much as possible!

A bit challenging for a day one rider, but we had it pretty dialed in just in time for a brilliant sunset that is frequently the cap of a long day riding out here. Shuttles are efficient, and the facilities are excellent - very clean, and include everything from a full service shop to showers. Also a big fan of the frequent races and events, and always appreciate being surprised at random by a new food truck that's parked in the man lot for a day or two. All in all, very grateful to have such an awesome place to get out into nature just a stones throw from the city.

The park is built for down hill mountain biking and does not disappoint. The bike park is organized like a ski mountain with green, blue, black, and double black expert courses. The park headquarters Ahmad great amenities bathroom, showers, bike was down station. The boast a full service mechanic shop and gear for days. The park offers loft service via a truck and trailer to a drop off point close to the top of the mountain. The shuttle service is worth it unless you are on an eMTB. The shuttle pick up is just a short ride from the main parking and park headquarters. They made the ride to the shuttle pretty fun with some tight berms and a solid step up to wet the pallet. Once on the shuttle the crew will take you to a drop off point near the top of the mountain. The shuttle takes about 10-15 min. Once at the drop off there is a map to direct you to the trails. All trails are well marked and appropriately described. There is the option to bike up higher on the mountain to access a few black diamond enduro trails that are well worth it. Green trails: These are not your average green trails. One can expect to some chunkier gnarly then normal steepness and features. Blue trails: I really feel like this is where the park starts to come to life. These trails were technical and flowy and just great. My beginner rider girlfriend actually appreciated the blue flow trail more than the green one open to us when we visited. Black trails: The black diamonds were dialed. Just enough intensity to leave you feeling more than satisfied. Over we had an amazing experience at Jarred's Place. The trails offered up some rewarding challenges and some opportunities for progression. I would highly recommend Jarred's to any serious mountain biker out there. Can't wait for my next visit.

From the moment we checked in Stacey was helpful, welcoming and supportive. The Koi Cove cabin we were housed in Friday night was perfect! Our Friday night dinner was delicious as was our breakfast Saturday morning. I learned so much about how to get started and enjoy being out in nature, slowing down and unplugging. Andrew was very galant to deliver us a canopy for the campsite just before we had a downpour:) Even though it was a very warm and rainy weekend, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the other ladies in the group, feeling confident it what previously seemed "hard" and now I can't wait to go again! This was our 3rd time visiting the park and renting a machine as we had a great experience the first 2 outings. In addition to the $800 rental fee they put a 5k deposit hold on your card when you rent the machines. This occasion, the machines were brand new (which I did not request). It had rained the night before and the trails were poorly marked with deep water ruts yet we still managed to avoid any collisions or damage. Fast forward a week later and I received an invoice from a Jim Smith from Iron Mountain Resort (who does not work for the company) for $1,018.91 for New Decals and some light painting. After receiving no answers to questions posed in 3 emails I called only to find that there is not Jim Smith with the company but was assured by nice lady that she would look into it and get back to me. Still no response a week later and called back whereby I spoke with a gentlemen who was unwilling to make any concessions and threatened "if you ruin my business I will ruin yours." Here's a thought...If you run an off-road rental business at an off-road park you might want to consider letting people know the $ risks of renting new machines vs used ones. Charging people over 1k for what would seemingly be normal wear and tear and putting a fake name on the email suggests you know exactly what you are doing and it's sketchy as hell.

The path was not over run with folks out enjoying the day. The path was wide, not overly hilly ... so it isn't what we would describe as an overly rigorous hike. Also, plenty of room if you want to ride a bike. We hiked about 2 miles and the path was paved all the way to the tunnel. There were a few spots that were pretty slick/muddy from some recent rains that had overflown across the path .... but aside from that pretty nice trail. Some fun spaces to get some nature pictures. Also, there is a police presence and they came down the path in a gator and looped back around. Nice to see that they patrol here to make sure it is safe for everyone.
