The rooms were immaculate, very clean and loved the kitchenette area complete with oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and plates with silverware. The water pressure was great as were the toiletries. The morning breakfast buffet had a lot of different foods such as breads, pastries, overnight oats, eggs, sausage and bacon and amazing coffee. The place is really nice inside with lots of updates and the trendy decor you'd expect from a Moxy. I've stayed in a few Moxy hotels in NYC and enjoyed my stays. The rooms are always small but economical with plenty of storage for such a small space. That is exactly how this Moxy was, too. The bed was very comfy and the TV had the best selection of channels I experienced from any hotel in Ireland during my stay. There's a desk that folds out from the wall, a small stool, a nook with a seat, and hooks for you to hang your clothes. I really appreciated the lighting since it wasn't just overwhelming overhead lighting. The location is unbeatable as well. Right in the middle of Cork overlooking the river. There's plenty of great bars and restaurants on that side of the river but even more fun places to explore across the way. Everything I wanted to eat and drink was no more than a 15 minute walk away. The reason for the four stars is that the shower, while very nice upon first look, leaked water onto the floor. This was one of the only hotels I saw in Ireland which had a full glass shower door which closed (hallelujah!) but it somehow STILL leaked water onto the ground. Upon brief inspection, I believe the cause may be some sort of construction error. The glass didn't seem to be properly fitted. The other issue I had was with the bathroom door. It's one of those annoying barn doors which slides and this particular door would get stuck and jam if closed all the way. Being alone in the room, this wasn't a make or break issue but if I was traveling with alongside someone, I'd definitely want that door to shut properly and I definitely wouldn't want to be concerned with how I'd get back out. The bar downstairs is really cute and I found all the staff members to be absolutely delightful. From check-in to cocktails to asking questions about the bus system and mailing a postcard, every single staff member was so friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed my time spent with the bartenders, Olivia and Chris, who provided great drinks and even greater conversation. Being that it's a new hotel, I'm guessing there's just a few kinks that need to be worked out in terms of construction. I'd probably still return despite those issues. They made it difficult for us to go some place else to eat, because it's so comfortable to just stay in the hotel's restaurant and have good drinks and food. They have a traditional key to the door to your room, which needs to be dropped off before you leave the building. At first, I thought it was inconvenient, but I found it to be great security and easier, because we didn't have to keep track of it. You have to walk by the desk to leave and when you return so it's really not that bad to drop it off and pick it up when you return. The rooms have a surplus amount of outlets, a standing enclosed shower, shampoo, shower gel, soap, hair dryer and the towels are large. Just like the other hotels, they do not have face clothes. They also supplied a couple of bottled waters for free each day. They also have a wall unit for cool air, which is unique in Ireland. Free WIFI throughout the hotel and rooms.

Our friend's room was refunded for the second night, ours was not. We had no transportation without our friend's vehicle, so we could not stay the second evening either. There are stairs leading into the building, narrow hallways, an elevator that barely holds a rollator and two people. But that's just the start of our experience so far. Even though the room we have is somewhat accessible the shower would not be for anyone with mobility issues. The shower appears to be recently renovated as does the rest of the bathroom the entrance to the shower is small and the floor is slippery!!! Not what you want for anyone. The issues continue, the mattress is old and has a foam topper on it. Needs a new mattress that provides some support. You only get about 12 tv channels and of that only about two have anything that's remotely interesting. We luckily came back to our room at 6pm only to find two servers from the cafe below locking the front door. No one told us the door gets locked and we were never told how to get in. Need anything after the receptionist has left at 5? You need to call to the sister hotel to have one of their staff help you. There is no a/c, not a big problem as you are located near the water so there would be cooling over the evening hours. But the windows are heavy and you need blocks of wood to hold them open. Again no one told us until we called to find this out. Again we had to call to the sister hotel to have someone bring something to prop the windows open. They do provide a Dyson fan but without the windows open it just blows around hot air. There's a large Ardmore in the room for hanging clothes, etc. That's great except there are no handles on it. Want to open it? You need to reach up to the top of the door to do that. Out of luck if you are short. Internet? Almost non-existent. Connections keep dropping, can't connect to websites, not even sure I'll finish this post before I lose the connection again. Think you get the idea. This establishment may work for some but there is no way we can recommend it and this is only our first night of a two night stay.

Bread seemed to have been sliced the day before and was dried out. Chicken supreme was also very dry. Fish stew was tasty and dipping the bread in the broth revived it.

This was my 2nd favorite hotel (after Ashford Castle) while visiting Ireland. The room was spacious, modern and beautifully decorated. The ensuite bath was lovely too, really enjoyed the double sinks as that helped my sister and I get ready quicker. The location is lovely, right by the river, and we went for a walk by the river which was very nice. All the staff we encountered were very nice and helpful. If I ever have the pleasure to go to Cork again and would love to return to this hotel.
