We were able to eat out at several fine restaurants in France, Germany, Italy and Austria on our recent European vacation. While we enjoyed all of our meals, including the one we had at the Blaue Quelle, I have to say this was the most underwhelming of the bunch.
The Traditional decor of the restaurant was sensational. I could imagine my grandparents eating here as a young couple in the 1920s. But restaurants are ultimately about the food and not the decor.
Everything we ordered was tasty and authentic. I particularly enjoyed the spinach ravioli I ordered for my first course and the chocolate mousse I selected for dessert. The salad course was rather generic. The schnitzel I chose for my main course was no better (nor worse) than what I make at home, but it was crispy, decently seasoned and tender. I think most people will enjoy their dinners here even though the food is not outstanding.
All in all, our evening at the Blaue Quelle was quite nice and I thank our Austrian friends who made the reservation and took us out for the evening. This is probably one of the better places to dine in area, even though it is average at best. read more
