We called and they came out the NEXT day. We were SHOCKED with the quote we were provided in writing. We were so amazed and we had researched all the reviews and pictures and we chose Affordable Patio Covering. We got approved for a permit. John and his son came out and started phase 1 on our 30ft by 9 ft patio covering. The next day the inspector came out and we were approved. The previous owners of our home we think, were going to put in a patio, and never did. They did however leave steel brackets in our concrete that have always been a tripping Hazzard. John removed them for us. John and his son came out and installed our patio covering in 1 day!!! YES 1 day. Out family and neighbors have been in shock with the price we paid compared to what they paid, to their much smaller patio coverings. We needed a Patio shade next to our pool. I had researched Patio shade cover options and found that…read morethe less expensive options (less than $3,000) came with too many negative reviews, including the very popular DIY one from Costco. The better reviewed companies that were building what I wanted were pricing at $6,000 or higher. Shade Works is local (I live in Meridian, ID) and after coming out to my house and taking measurements for what I wanted done, they custom manufactured the shade at their facility in Boise, then installed it. After fabricating my unit (it was ready a few weeks after ordering it) installation took 3 normal work days to complete. Most other options were not as convenient and many required that I build the unit after they dropped off the parts. (Ummm, no) Many claimed that they "built it in just one weekend with my spouse!" No thanks, I would rather still be married after the unit is installed. Shade Works got it done and it turned out great. We have only had it for a couple of months and no problems at all. Family, friends, neighbors are very complimentary on how it looks. My only frustration with the entire project was that I needed an extra post section panel to cosmetically cover up some electric and water piping that I had stubbed in for lights and a water mister on the unit (not Shade Works fault, the landscaping company I had hired for other yard projects stubbed in those pipes too far from the shade post) so, I needed to have Shade Works cut an extra post panel to accomplish that. They did but it took about 3 weeks, primarily I think because return phone call promises were not kept, delayed, or not forwarded to the correct person. It is early summer and all outdoor project contractors are very busy, so delays happen. But timely communications with customers is paramount. This was not a deal breaker for me to not use them again or not recommend them. They do good work, we are very happy with our patio shade. Just need to communicate with their customers in a more timely manner and all is well!

There were several issues, but the biggest one is they cut one of the beams 1/2" short which is very noticeable. When we asked them to replace the beam they first said it was within "threshold" even though the rest of the beams are flush and do not have a space. After continuing to ask them to fix the beam they said they would not be responsible for the structure AND WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE BEAM AND THEIR LABOR. This clearly shows their lack of craftsmanship. No craftsman would say 1/2" off on a board was within threshold. For another issue we had their technician changeout silver bolts on a black structure (which should never have been silver since the remainder of the bolts were black) and didn't even have a drill. We would definitely not ever recommend this company to anyone.
