The kids are not allowed to be children! You will have to pay for everything and don't get a decent education. The recesses are too short and and the kids don't even get one on Wednesday this year. Your child will have to memorize endless prayers in every class (PE, music and art). Homework is over the top here with at least 1.5 hours. My kids were miserable here! So happy we left! A lot of good families have left over the last few years as the school tolerates horrible children to stay (they may go to the office but never removed from the school, tuition is too important to the school). Also Skaggs school is hiding abuse cases, tolerating unacceptable behavior from teachers, the catholic school system in Utah is in trouble and it's apparent. However, after one year, we realized the school's priority is fundraising, not education. Communication with both the teacher and the school administration was extremely difficult. The teacher would only actively contact parents when requesting donations. Homework was never graded, and when we asked about it, the teacher told us she simply did not have time. The STEM curriculum was far too easy. Even though my daughter had skipped a grade, she was still often bored in class. The teacher at Channing Hall even placed her in a slow math group, despite the fact that she passed the school district's assessment and was invited to join the SALTA (Supporting Advanced Learners Toward Achievement) magnet program. When we requested a brief five-minute conversation after school at 1:30 p.m. to discuss our daughter's math placement, the teacher refused and had the front desk block us from entering the school. She claimed she was busy preparing for a STEM exhibition, even though the event didn't begin until 5:00 p.m. This unwillingness to communicate was a major red flag. The IB program is meant to provide an inquiry-based curriculum that fosters global awareness, but this was not the case at Channing Hall. The so-called "international" curriculum was superficial, limited to short readings about holidays or famous people, with no meaningful classroom discussion. The comprehension questions were simplistic and lacked depth. One more telling sign was that a teacher at Channing Hall planned to transfer her own daughter to a different school the following year. It is hard to have faith in a school when its own staff lacks confidence in the program. After one year, we transferred our daughter to another public school. Since then, she has been academically challenged and genuinely happy. Unfortunately, even after leaving Channing Hall, the communication difficulties continued. We requested a refund of the remaining balance in our daughter's lunch account, but despite repeated emails over two months to the Business Manager and later to the Head of School, we received no response. When we called to follow up, the front desk was very rude and impatient. Leadership at the school is also concerning. At other schools we have attended, principals are visible and approachable. At Channing Hall, my daughter never saw or even knew who the Head of School was. Combined with poor communication and an emphasis on flashy fundraising exhibitions over educational quality, this raises serious questions about the school's priorities. If you care about your children's education, look elsewhere. Don't let the "platinum" label fool you. There are many excellent public schools in the Canyons School District, and families can easily apply online to attend schools outside their neighborhood boundaries. You will likely have a far more professional and rewarding experience than we did at Channing Hall.

They tested him and he was 2 grade levels behind in math and a bit behind in comprehension as well. This school was a place for him to rest, learn and recoup for a year and a half. He was able to relax, gain confidence in himself again and lovegoing to school every day! This school was such a gift for him. He is now in 8th grade and he just started at one of our local junior highs and we are a month into school and he has straight A's. He is flourishing and able to stay organized and is understanding his 8th grade math. I am beyond appreciative to Mrs. Chris for creating this school that is a haven for a chosen few who get to attend. We love Draper Academy and if your in the fence go give it a tour.

The school only lets you have 10 absence and your kid have to make up all the homework from the days they were absent and usually the homework takes a hour or more to do. One time they let a kidnapper in the school without even noticing!!! So the kids saw the police coming in to look for the kidnapper, the worst part is they didn't even have a lock down!! So this school is not safe at all! We probably won't be coming back!

Very concerning experience attempting to tour Challenger School in Sandy for preschool…read more We arrived on time for our scheduled tour and were handed a values-based questionnaire that no one had previously explained was mandatory. 10+ min later, the director informed us we couldn't even tour unless it was completed first. When I calmly asked whether we could simply tour before filling out a philosophical questionnaire for a school we knew very little about, I was met with repeated pushback from both the director & headmaster and repeatedly told it was "school policy," despite my inability to locate such a policy online. The director later stated she only had 15-20 minutes before the next tour while simultaneously expecting us to complete the unexpected questionnaire after the school itself had already run late. Neither my spouse nor I, both doctors, have encountered anything remotely similar in educational or professional settings. The interaction ultimately ended with the headmaster abruptly stating, "This is not going to be a good fit," and walked off. Overall, the interaction felt rude, dismissive, and heavily compliance-focused for what should have been a simple preschool tour inquiry.
