As a long time customer at the old location at Biscayne + NE15th, I was somewhat disappointed. Lost was a certain personal service touch and genuine interest in me as a customer. While I was able to find the items I was there to purchase, they lost the opportunity to enhance that sale which could have easily happened with a few moments of personal attention, suggestions of alternatives products and a more welcome attitude. Even at the checkout seemed fridigid. Bottom line, the staff was just not helpful even though there were few other customers While the selection is great, there on online retailers, including Amazon, where I could have easily made the same purchases without the attitude. I'll likely check out Blick next time. read more

When in need of all things art, hands down, Blick Art continues to be my favorite shop. One of my frustrations is when you get inspired, need a little advice and your trip to the store fails you. Other chains are hit or miss when you need advice on something, a sad fact of many big box stores. Blick on the other hand has never let me down. I've been here a few times but in particular, of the late, I'm obsessed with all things stencils and the possibility of making my own. Overwhelmed with researching it online and with a sample of what I was looking for, I headed to the store. The first person I found told me I think I know what you need. In no more than 20 seconds, bam....she found it for me. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and gives you the vibe they like what they do. A win win in my book. Another plus is don't forget to sign up for the reward card. An additional benefit is if you need to buy something online and it didn't work out, you can actually save shipping and return it to the store. It's not a simple method but you will have a possible two options. If the item you are returning is something they actively sell at the local store, they will issue you a refund. If the item isn't something they sell, they will ship it back to the warehouse for you, free of charge. The refund is delayed until the item is received and processed. Regardless, it's a great service considering how expensive shipping can be. In summary, Blick is a small shop that packs a lot of supplies in a small area, super friendly employees and fair priced items. read more

Employees at this store are rude especially the brunette and I always forget this and go back to have the same experience. Uppity, pushy, afraid of children and generally just unpleasant. Today the woman actually said "what are you going to donate today?" Not are you willing to donate but what are you going to donate?! Listen lady, I've done more philanthropy than you will ever do in your life! You need to ask nicely though or you will get very little from me! It had been a while since I was last at the store. I still remembered when the store was called Utrecht and was confused when it changed names. Anyhow, few days ago I decided to come by the store since I had a gift card from years ago and needed to get a sketchbook and glue stick. Parking was plenty as usual and the store was very inviting on the outside. When I went inside, I was amazed at how organized everything was. The signage and price tags were visible. I was able to find a really good deal on sketchbooks, which was very surprising. There was a section of Buy One Get One Free on the XL Sketchbooks, so I grabbed two. Checkout process was very easy and smooth. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. He asked if I was part of the rewards program, I said I think so, but I am not sure if it's been updated since Utrecht. He looked up my information for me, and wa-la! I was still in the system, yay. Overall, this is a great art and office supplies store if you don't want to wait in long lines at Michael's. read more

Keep it short and sweet as this was a quick stop for me. The young man at the counter, I believe his name was Ryan, was very friendly and helpful. Seeing as I am movie painter and more of a doodler, he was quick to assist me in finding the right paint I needed for my piece. The location is very nice and clean. I was planning on going to Michael's for paint supplies. But this was in the same shopping center as Jeremiah's. I am happy I came here instead. This store has everything you need for an artist. The people who work there are also very knowledgeable about the supplies and can help you with what you need. They have quality supplies and fair prices. It can be overwhelming seeing all the supplies because they are so enticing. It definitely inspires you to want to draw so you can come back and buy more! read more

Nice selection of products, albeit expensive. The store is clean and tidy, which is great because other art supply stores in Miami tend to be messy and disorganized. The staff working at the store was also helpful and applied a few discounts for me without me even asking. This is definitely my go-to art place. I'd come before a few years ago, but it was called "Utrecht." Not sure if Blick bought them out, or if they just took over the space, but they still have consistent quality products, same as before. read more

At Blick art supply on US1 in Miami today there was a help wanted sign in window. I asked for which position. I was told to go online and fill in their application form. I asked again what job was open. Finally, a response, the framing position. I asked what it paid because I am really good at cutting mats and framing. I thought it might be fun. I was told by manager, a woman in her 20s, that she could not tell me that information. I asked her to give me a range. She said it was not information she could tell me. Then she asked me if I had experience, or I just thought I knew how to do this. I left; it was best. Had she had the intelligence and courtesy to simply ask me a few more questions she would have been happy to know me. First, simply because I am older then 20 it does not render me no longer viable. Second, I have a BA in Studio Art and an MFA. Third, I have cut more mats and assembled more frames than she will ever see. Fourth, I worked at a framing shop for several years. One last comment, who the heck would apply for a position without knowing the salary? I was not applying for a corporate position; I was attempting to apply for the inhouse framer. I hardly imagine that it paid upwards of $15 an hour, thus warranting the secrecy. read more

It is a chain so they are able to offer decent prices but when you walk in there you feel like you are in a Small Business - So many different types of Artist that work there- I have gotten some amazing !!!! ideas and suggestions from them! I'm a regular customer there and have nothing to complain about usually but this time I got really offended, shocked and hurt by one of the employee. I came with my two sons, one of them didn't wear a mask because he has multiple disabilities one of which is to be deaf and he is wearing coclhear implants that don't allow him to wear a face mask but also, mask but he is also hemiplegic so cannot put on a mask by himself and has a chronic respiratory condition which is also an issue for him if he wears a face mask on (my other son and I were wearing masks). Despite all that, the woman who was at the entrance told me he couldn't come in. Let me tell you something: my son is 11. Everyday single day of his life is a challenge because of his disabilities. I'm doing all my best to make him fit in this world. I also have to take him with me since there is school and no camp possible due to the pandemic... he cannot wear a face mask and it's not an easy thing/decision for me to see him exposed like that. On top of everything, he is finger pointed in a store in front of everybody and kicked out of there!!!!! The official emergency order says that there are exceptions Not to wear face masks and my sons is crossing 2 out of the 7 exceptions : - "an individual who has one or more medical conditions or disabilities that prevent wearing a mask" - "An individual who is hearing impaired..." I'm writing this review because I first sent an email to the store to address this situation i surely don't want it to happen to anybody else but they never bothered answering so... read more

Popped in the other day to get some stuff for a project for my son and had so much fun! Bought lots of little things I didn't need along with what I came in for. Joined their Blick rewards, which was easy and free. Got a flyer for a demo the following weekend in using synthetic brushes with different types of paints, which I've made plans to attend. Went back the following week with my son and again walked out with more than I went in there for, which was a gift for my 9 yr old niece. At the checkout they scanned my Blick rewards card and got $9 off!!!! What?! I am not sure I've ever left a review before, however felt so compelled after my experience yesterday. I did not know Blick existed, usually I visit the chain craft stores more widely known. I needed materials for a resin project and called before going to the store. My entire interactions both on the phone and in person were extremely personable, thoughtful and most importantly helpful. Wow, I am impressed. I have never seen a place with such diverse art supplies. They also had a clearance section, which was off the chart. The cashier lady asked me if i was a student, so that I could get 10% discount! The staff was welcoming and attentive. I came in to buy just tracing paper, and I ended up buying art materials...LOL. Dear Utrecht, You have always been a go-to for art supplies. One can pretty much find anything they're looking for, regardless of the medium. From high-end spray paint, to modeling clay, poster boards to wood blocks for carving, you can get it all! The service here is also pretty good, as most of the clerks are knowledgeable about the supplies. Some of the clerks are your typical college student just trying to get by, but even then, they're art majors and know how to advise and guide. My only gripe with you, Utrecht, is your prices. You are a pricey store for simple items. For example, I did a Garage Sale recently, and I stopped in to get poster boards and paint markers. I'm convinced that the poster board would have been cheaper at a place like Walmart, or even CVS. The paint markers I think are equally as expensive wherever you go, so I wasn't too upset about that. But even items like blank journals, sharpie markers, colored pencils, etc., I have found cheaper at even other art stores, such as Rex Art Supply (which closed from their original location and not sure if they ever reopened). The customer service here is great! They have a good selection all around. If they do not have something, some of the employees remind you that it can be ordered. I usually get taken care of by someone named Patty. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and best part is she manages the line fast and reminds rude customers where the line starts, but in a very friendly way! It would be awesome if they would expand the store and perhaps expand on the Smooth-On products. They give you recommendations when you ask for it and they are so friendly! You can return anything and everything, even if its $1.
