I contacted them and Tom came out promptly and eager to help. We explained what we wanted, a Q Motion activated blind and it was a huge window, and wanted to know options. Tom was so polite, pleasant and knowledgeable, and wanted to make sure we got exactly what we wanted in our new home. Tom could have sold us exactly what we asked for, the Q Motion blind, but he politely asked why we were set on that one. And not in a way to 'question what we wanted' but just understanding. After we explained, he didn't try upsetting us, but he actually DOWNSOLD us. (without boring you Q Motion is like MAJOR hardware, vs an automated blind). Anyway, he knew we wanted 'integration' and worked with us to get our home covered. Literally. Installation happend a few weeks later, and was flawless, again, Tom was super friendly and polite, it was sad to see him leave!! When he was installing, one window blind was the wrong size, and he was very apologetic. He installed the wrong size (it was shorter than the window), but at least we had a covering on the window. He came shortly soon after, and replaced & installed the perfect size blind. His interior decor/style was super helpful and was patient, as we looked thru options for a pretty long term decision on our windows!! The Hunter Douglas products are well made and they offer some attractive fabrics and just about any option you would wish for with excellent app design for controlling the blinds. We felt the price was very reasonable after comparing to Costco's quote for less-appealing fabrics in Graber blinds. I have used this company for nearly all the window coverings in my house, over a period of 30+…read moreyears, when then they started in Boulder. They have always done stellar work and carry high quality products. Unfortunately one of our Hunter Douglas shades of the mid 90s had a failed cord due to its extended use in a bedroom. When I called to see if it could be restrung, I learned the sad news that they cannot, due to federal safety laws regarding the child strangulation prevention measures of current manufacture. A good thing for children of course, but a complication for homeowners. We went out to their facility and worked with one of their designers and chose a shade similar enough in color and style to fit in our home. We ordered the product and waited about 4 weeks until it arrived. We picked it up and planning to install it ourselves, having done so for some of the older ones in the past. As it turned out, the method of install is so different now, the tools required and the shape of the brackets now also different, we were unable to do it. I called the designer and asked if we could have an installer after all. She contacted installation and got me the contact to set it up. Today the installer got here, a true professional, on time and with tools in hand, had it done in under 20 minutes. Nothing like having the skills and the tools and the height to do it with ease. We felt very fortunate and the price to do this was very reasonable. I will continue to use Innovative Openings for all of our window coverings. One more note, if you do have an older Hunter Douglas window shade product in your home with any small plastic fasteners or pull tabs for the old cord system that have cracked with age or high altitude sun exposure like ours, those parts can be ordered directly from Hunter Douglas online. It is simple to replace most of these parts. The parts are free and I was only charged a minimal shipping fee. I was able to get about 7 pieces. I was able to match colors for past products up to nearly 20 years old. I did those replacements myself. I even switched one to the same color but a different shape to better match the older blinds in the adjacent room. It's the internal cord system on the older blinds that they can no longer re-string. If you want to prevent replacing, be very gentle on them as they age.

The guys who came to do the actual installation were timely, professional and fast. When they were doing the install they realized that a mistake had been made with the manufacturer and the shades were a couple inches too narrow. They went ahead and installed the shades they had brought, and told me they'd order the correct size and come back out to install those when they came in. The lady that scheduled my next appointment for the new shades was very helpful and got my appointment scheduled promptly as soon as the correctly sized shades had arrived. Then the install team came back out and quickly switched out the first shades for the correct ones. I will definitely be going back to Budget Blinds if I need additional blinds/shades installed. Maybe it was because I wasn't purchasing a whole house full of blinds or maybe it is just the kind of person she is but either way it was extremely rude, hostile and uncalled for. Wendy came across as not wanting to even discuss what I needed. If this is how they treat return Budget Blind customers imagine how they treat everybody else. I would never use this north Aurora budget blinds. I will look to a different company where they appreciate their customers, even returning customers and I suggest you do so as well.
