I myself used to cut and sell window shades while in college. At that time, in two years, I don't recall one return on account of a product defect. OK, I bought a shade a few years ago from BlindsToGo. A year ago, I started using it daily. It is built with a chain, which broke. Basically, it lasted one year before failing. I suspect a cord is a better choice, that chains are more likely to break. It's a design defect, in my opinion. At first, I was quoted $82, to be repaired in my home. Later, the cost suddenly went up to $165. I complained and eventually, by both bringing in the defective blind, and picking it up again, I got B2G to repair my blind (which took them 10 days). Will I be buying anything in the future from this store. In a word, no I will not. read more

Sixteen years after we replaced all blinds in our three bedrooms, four of them have wear and tear issues. My wife and I were thinking about buying new ones since we have had them for so many years. On the other hand, they look still like new. I was thinking of buying some parts to repair them myself. So I was about to ask the store I purchased them 16 years ago. But one problem - we don't remember which store we bought them from, was it Blinds to Go, Next Day Blinds, Budget Blinds, or Great Blinds:) My wife was thinking about buying new blinds. She identified several blinds/shades stores for us to check out on a weekend. Blinds to Go happened to be on our last stop of the weekend tour. After we walked into this Blinds to Go in Tyson's, we were warmly greeted by a nice sales woman. To our surprise, she found our purchase records from 16 years (a different Blinds to Go store in Loudon county). Even a bigger surprise to us, all their blinds are life time warrantee. So we went back home and took down the blinds and brought back to the store. Four days later, my got a call that the blinds were all repaired and ready to be picked up, even the shipping costs were covered by the store. This experience was so amazing!!! I had scheduled a consult for June 16, and the day before got a notification that the BTG rep had "resigned" and was automatically rescheduled with another rep for June 17. On June 17, the rep was a no-show. After I called BTG to inquire about an ETA (twice), they said first that I was the next stop and the the second time couldn't reach the rep at all. They offered to reschedule me for the end of June / early July for a consultation. I declined and decided to go with another company. read more

Do Not Buy Blinds From Here!!! I would like to mention that the design consultants in the store are very helpful and friendly, but they use a third party to install/remove blinds. You have to make arrangements with that third party on your own and they are extremely unresponsive. I even had an appointment one day and the guy never showed up. As for the quality, they are not good. One of the strings on the blinds broke within the first six months. I needed the person to come out and fix them and it took him a couple months before he came out. Also one of my blinds has been getting shorter and shorter for the past few months and I am still waiting for the guy to come fix them. They give you a "lifetime warranty" but it will take you months to get them fixed. read more

My mom and I made an order on June 15th and were told the blinds would come in 3 weeks at the latest and worst case scenario. We were very excited and came here highly recommended by one of her friends. Four weeks go by and all we've had was the window measuring man. So I called the store to see why the order was taking longer than expected to find out the order was on hold. The sales person said the company has a policy where they wouldn't place an order for us until someone verbally accepts it via phone call. Not once did they leave a voicemail and their number isn't one that needed saving. So missed call after missed call no voicemail was left. The saleswoman did not apologize at all while I expressed my frustration with the policy especially since we had already paid a deposit for nearly half the payment and just wanted to put in our order right away. After finally having our order confirmed we were told to wait 2-3 days for the delivery to the store. Fine it's not like we've been waiting 4 weeks. Then the store called saying that in order to book an appointment date for installation, we had to pay full price first. Then the store texted us to tell us to come pick up when we established the order would be delivered and installed. We still don't have blinds. I would not recommend this place to anyone. TL;DR: The store just wants your money and couldn't care less about customer satisfaction. read more

We had a design consultant come to our house to help with our selection before ordering, with the hope of giving us feedback and better ideas based on the products we had ordered samples for. We ended up ordering blinds in my office that amplified the sunlight that comes in for most of the day. Best way I can describe it was that it was like looking at snow glare while trying to use a computer. When I called to tell the consultant and her manager that I would have hoped the consultant would have shared the product wasn't a good choice behind a laptop screen all day, I got every excuse as to why it was my fault. They told me I had already selected the products by having samples already ordered, and 'didn't the consultant just give you what you asked for.' Was told that the consultant can't predict how sun comes into my home because they don't live in my home like I do. I'm unclear what kind of consulting this is if these folks can't look at the direction a window is facing and the purpose of the room and provide at least some sort of considerations. Other than filtering light and privacy, what else are people ordering blinds for?! I spent a week trying to find a customer service department, there is none. They have a scheduling team 1-800 number and the design consultant/sales team. There is no one at this company to help make it right for the customer. The only thing I was offered was to order something additional to replace it, for a discount, but they wouldn't tell me what that discount would actually be. I had to pick my product first. I never got a receipt from my first order and don't believe I was given much in terms of the buy one get one off offer, but I guess I will never know. Given the lack of transparency, we will not be ordering a replacement and put the old blinds back up. Next time I will use blinds.com and order/install myself for much cheaper. When we moved into our condo there were totally different (and hideous) window treatments on all the windows, ranging from run-down black-outs in the master bedroom to horribly outdated, fabric-covered verticals on the glass door to the balcony. Every day my OCD was rubbed in all kinds of bad directions as I faced these separate, but equally repugnant, window dressings. Until one day when we decided to bite the bullet and popped into Blinds To Go during some errands in Bailey's Crossroads. We are a new home now. *tear* We had an opposite experience here as Dallas P. had: expert and helpful customer service from BTG's manager, Jas, without any attempts at up-selling us or dissuading us from what we already knew we wanted on our windows; affordable and competitive pricing; an extensive selection; and their installer, Muhamed, was efficient. Once he showed up to install, he was in and out in no time and we were enjoying our brand new, custom made blinds. We have encountered a few snags, tho. The first was when Muhamed came out to measure our windows for the custom blinds. We ordered energy efficient cellular blinds for all our windows -- light blocking in the master bedroom and light filtering everywhere else -- but Muhamed measured the glass door for *vertical* blinds. I guess because those horrid, 1970s verticals were hanging there when he measured, he just assumed we were replacing them with horrid, 2010s verticals. Jas caught the mistake before she ordered our blinds, tho, and sent Muhamed back for a re-measure. This meant from purchase-to-installation it took about 10 days instead of 3-4, but mistakes happen. And we'd already waited over two years to replace these bad boys; another 10 days didn't kill us. The second has been in communicating with the store *after* our installation. A day later, two of the shades went wonky, with a slight angle at the bottom of the blinds. We've been calling the store to get Muhamed sent back out to rectify this, but BTG has been a lot less responsive since receiving our full payment. To be continued... read more

Horrible customer service. Valerie came to our house with samples, did measurements, we picked the sample and she sent us a quote the next day. She said we would be able to have them installed by new years if we make a decision soon. Within 2 days we contacted her multiple times, calls, emails to finally hear back from her saying that there product we picked is no longer available that she will have to come back for us to pick another product and that it won't be ready by new years. We were still ok with this and moving forward with placing an order. Except she shows up today and when I wish to discuss the initial miscommunication she becomes aggressive and says she doesn't remember and if it's a problem she can just go. Mind you I was still willing to place the order and pick a new product until she started insulting me in my home. This was a guaranteed order for this company had it not been for the unprofessional behavior of the salesperson. read more

My wife and I visited the store at Bailey's Crossroads, picked out blinds, and ordered installation, paying, in advance, as agreed, 50% of the total materials and installation price for two windows, with the balance to be paid at installation. They came out and measured on the appointed day and later that day, we received a call saying that because the blinds were coming from "a different store" they would now require 100% payment in advance. We then requested cancellation of the contract and a full refund. They said, no, they would keep $50 for the measurement. We prefer not to deal with organizations that follow this type of business practices. read more

This review is not about the Falls Church brick and mortar store that I've picked up orders at several times in the past, rather it's about the Blinds to Go company that is non-responsive when I requested remediation for an order I made that they screwed up. I recently ordered a set of blinds and they were sent in the wrong color. When I called the 800 number the person I spoke with said to send her a picture of the blinds I received, which I did, and I never got a response. I called the Falls Church store for help and the person working there said she would contact the main company for me to try and straighten this out. I trust that she did, but I still have not received a response from corporate. What horrible customer service. I would not recommend Blinds to Go anymore. read more

The pull-string on my bathroom blind broke. I figured I would buy a new one. Then on a whim i checked old receipts. Found my receipt for 8/20/2000. It was still in the little folded brochure. I'll bet you are wondering what kind of weirdo saves 12 year old receipts. As luck would have it, a little logo stated "lifetime product guarantee". I figured i would test the guarantee. At least this location seems to only be an outlet of the factory, and you shouldn't expect to feel wanted or special. As a professional in customer service for at least 8 years, I can't understand how they have any repeat business. Jas the manager seems to embody this very sense of corporate greed, but the only reason I finally bought there was that they're the cheapest on the market. We used Blinds To Go to install real wood blinds in our home that had 11 average sized windows. We scheduled an at-home consult with Patrick (he called about 20 minutes before he arrived to give us a heads-up that he was on his way) who did a great job giving us our options of different types of blinds as well as took measurements. The entire at-home consult process took approximately 1.5 hours, which also accounted for the fact that we purchased and ordered our blinds during the consult. A week later our blinds were installed and we chose the morning time slot to have the installer come over. The day before the install, I received an automated text saying our installer would arrive between 8am-9am. So the next morning we got up bright and early to make sure our furniture was moved and our windows were accessible to the installer. 9am came and went, and no sign of the installer or call from the company. Their 1-800 customer service number line did not open until 9am (and their brick and mortar store did not open till 10am) so I waited an entire hour thinking the installer was a no-show before I could speak to anyone from the company to find out where our installer was. Was eventually told that the installer was "running late" and going to arrive between 10:30-11am. When the installer arrived, he claimed that the company gave him a 3 hour window to arrive at our home (8am-11am). I showed him my text showing 8am-9am and he didn't seem to care and acted like it wasn't his fault that he was late according to the text I received. Aside from this arrival time confusion/disorganization - we are very satisfied with the blinds themselves and feel confident with our purchase knowing we have a lifetime guarantee. read more

I was kind of dreading this process but it wasn't bad at all. We chose some nice faux wood blinds. They guy they outsource for measuring and installing the blinds was 10 minutes early, and very efficient. When it was time to install the blinds, he and his wife came together, it took them all of 40 minutes to install and remove 10 sets of blinds from our house. I was impressed. I did this once and it took me 20 minutes for one set alone. We are very happy with the end result. The sales people were also quite nice and knowledgeable. read more

More substantial mounting screws. Delivery on promised date - despite a nationally remarked storm system. Charged half on order and half on delivery two days later. Significantly lower price for equivalent quality - no direct comparison as NextDay delivery would have stretched for another three weeks. Place to go if you know what you want. read more

I've gone to the Bailey's Crossroads location twice to buy shades and am very happy with the results. I felt both times that I received good information, advice, and attentive customer service. Really, the design consultants are lovely people and very patient. My selections were automated roller shades and top-down, bottom-up cellular shades. Installation went great and my rooms look finished and much more welcoming. I never had the experience of other reviewers who said the installers weren't responsive. My experience was the opposite, very responsive, professional, and careful with our home. I'll be back when I need more shades. read more

The customer service people were friendly when they greeted me and my blinds were very nice. However, the attitude of the guy who installed them ruined my experience. He was surly and rude and asked me inappropriate personal questions (I'm a single female) and demanded, not asked for a tip after. My dog pulled out some blinds and they were ruined, but when I called to buy replacements, they promised me that they would send me the same guy again and I decided to just super glue them back instead dealing with that horrible guy again. I had to bring three shades bought five years ago in for string repair. No questions, no hesitations at all. All three were repaired within 48 hours; pick up was a breeze. Great guarantee!! The best thing about this store was my sales person: Lateshia Crowder. There was a storm that knocked out the computers and she handled my paperwork thoroughly, with a followup email to me and a phone call when the repair ordered was being processed. DO NOT BUY. We engaged them to do the blinds and shades in several rooms to the tune of over $5000. The installer measured and I was told that the installation was done by Blinds To Go. The installation happened and quite conveniently, the last blind was the "wrong" size. Then the installer sprang his fraud on us for an indeterminable sum of 700 which has NO prior paperwork or understanding. My signature on the receipt in fact states that they are doing the installation. The store has NO one with but another salesperson who is "in" on the scam answering the phone. I have registered a complaint with the BBB but they don't enforce contracts or adjudicate them. At this time, I will find another company to do the entire family room which is missing one blind because Blinds To Go refuses to complete the job. The installer is likely the owner - small business run without any appreciation for good work ethics and only responsive to legal action. Will sue them for damages. I would be careful about engaging private small businesses that do not have a franchise standard of ethics. Very indecent people and I loathe to think that I let them into the house. read more

I shopped around at a few different places in the area for blinds before I made my purchase from Blinds to Go. Although they were not the absolute cheapest place, they had the best combination of quality and price...a good value. The installer was on time and completed the job in a timely manner. If you want something ultra-cheap (for a rental, for example) then there are other options. But if you want something nice, and do not want to spend a fortune, then Blinds to Go is a happy medium. I am giving it 4-stars only because the salesperson was not incredibly helpful in my decisionmaking, although the staff was nice and friendly. read more
