My plantation shutters are perfect ;o) Based on how highly reviewed this company is on many sites, I settled on Perfect Fit for my home. I have a townhouse and wanted to install plantation shutters on all 11 windows and the back door window. I don't think this company does many townhouses and Marie didn't seem to be comfortable with this project at all, which made me unsure if this was the right company for me. She didn't seem comfortable providing guidance on louver size, which openings to use, double hung vs single. She didn't have photos of anything that she did suggest I use in my home. I ended up having to take a lot of time to research all of my questions on other shutter company sites to get the answers to my questions and to feel confident with my choices. And, even though she measured everything, she ended up having John come out and re-measure again. I had to double and triple check the order to make sure it was exactly what I requested. I caught a few errors and made some changes based on my independent research. The crew that came in to install was great. My shutters arrived as ordered. The crew was on time, fast and efficient and were done by early afternoon. If you are looking for interior shutters, stop looking around and purchase here. We checked out the big box options but we have an old house, so we needed custom to fit with our imperfect windows. I received quotes from Norman, Smith and Noble, Sunland, and Perfect Fit representatives. Not only was the price from Perfect Fit in line with those places, it was clear during the shopping process that the quality of the shutters from Perfect Fit blew the others out of the water. The employees who work there are all very qualified and have been with the company for a long time. I met the owner John when I stopped by on a Saturday not realizing they were closed; even so, he ran out to catch me as I was getting in my car to leave to let me in and gave me a quick run down of my options. Like all the other reviews on here, we made the right choice by going with Perfect Fit. We got a new construction home. An option was the builder curtains which we didn't go with. Never really knew what plantation shutters were (even though I've seen them in other houses) until my wife decided we needed them. Obviously skeptical but happy wife, happy life. SO...did research, including getting quotes from three different places. Perfect Fit was right in the middle and the big box store was a bit cheaper. BUT... Perfect Fit was way, way easier to deal with. You can basically talk to the owner, the saleslady, or Riah (who I'm not sure what her role is but she is super nice and friendly). They will accommodate, answer the phone, talk to you, and spend an hour with you in the showroom (like we did). The big box--it was like pulling teeth dealing with them. They are a middle man and just to get one changed option, we'd have to wait minutes on the phone to get the right rep and then they'd call their contractor and then we'd have to call their contractor. That left a bad impression so we went with Perfect Fit...AND It was an awesome choice. We LOVE the freaking shutters. They keep out light when you need to, look fantastic and make our house look much nicer, and even block wind (didn't know that) in the winter from seeping through the windows. High quality. Plus the gentlemen who came install were super, super skilled and nice. We've had a ton of experience with workers coming to our house since we moved in (and even before as it was new construction) but these guys were the best, most professional, and did the best job. Nearly perfect. There was a tiny issue with a magnet on one shutter but they came out and fixed. HIGHLY recommend!!! We love the shutters and the service was phenomenal. Don't go with the big box--you might, just might save a few bucks depending on the sale or promotion but for such a large investment it's like going with the used car dealer selling the unreliable car vs. the locally owned, top rated, best service dealer. read more

They educated us on the different types, explained how they could even paint the shutters to match our trim, and sent us a quote very quickly. The louvers move independently of one another so you can open ( or close) the top louvers OR the bottom louvers, or BOTH. They hang perfectly level and plumb. The solid basswood adjustable shutters are individually made, painted, and assembled to pretty close tolerance. The fit & finish is very satisfying to me. These shutters are finished in white laquer, a smooth, hard surface that is easy to clean, and lasts. The install is very professional and was followed by a 30-minute visit by the representative for careful measure-ments. I absolutely recommend the services of Perfect Fit Custom Shutters. Outstanding customer service! I contacted PerfectFit after cancelling two other contracts with national chains in December for service failures. John's team came out in early January to do the measure and generate the estimate. I travelled to their Gaithersburg facility the next day to see their operation first hand and I was so impressed, I gave them a deposit on the spot for my order. The shutters were completed in late February, weeks ahead of time and installation was scheduled. The other work taking place in my family room was behind schedule but Riah helped me with the rescheduling, which was very helpful. After installation, my carpeting was thicker than I anticipate and the shutters had to be adjusted. Again, Riah and John (owner) made the adjustments possible at no additional costs. This place is wonderful. I contacted them via Angie's List and got an immediate appointment. Marie P came out and showed me sample shutters and measured the windows in the family room and bedrooms. We had estimators before and we were told that they could not put shutters on our french doors. Marie provided samples and pictures of how they created cut outs for the door handles. I asked a lot of questions about the best size, color, and design for each room and she provided excellent design guidance. As an after thought, we decided to also put shutters in our kitchen. She came back and did measurements and helped me select appropriate kitchen shutters. Once we approved the estimate, an installer then came and spent about 1 hour doing additional detailed measurements. He was very meticulous and told us how long the manufacture and installation of the shutters would take. Riah and Archi, the front office staff made sure we got on the schedule, as soon as the shutters were done. The shutters are really high quality and look beautiful. They are well aligned with the window frames and reflect high quality craftsmanship. The installers spent several hours at our house, took away our old window treatments, touched up the window frames with paint and cleaned the work areas. They were wonderful. We are thrilled with our shutters! Perfect Fit installed lovely plantation shutters on the window and sliding door in our living room, giving us much needed privacy with tons of light. There were a few slight communication issues in the beginning, in part because the sliding door complicated our consultation, but the owner John came out to do the consult and was incredibly knowledgeable and gave great advice to us plantation-shutter-newbies. We got a quote from another company who sent someone to the consultation who couldn't actually do a sliding door consult - despite the fact that we explicitly said it was for one window and one sliding door. John was really helpful in answering our questions on various options and making sure we were confident in our choice. The lead up to installation was great - they were flexible with communication (emailing instead of calling because we were out of the country), and touched base several times before our installation day. The installers were on time (early actually!) and installation was smooth and quick. And the final product is awesome! Outstanding, we brought plantation shutters 15 years ago. They did a great job then. 15 years later our Thermalite Shutters needed adjustments and the shutters need magnetics to be replaced. Two repairmen came, worked two hours, fixed everything--no charge. Checked every shutter in the house for repair--I cannot say enough about how great this company is. We were remodeling our home and had our hearts set on plantation shutters. We did our research and got quotes from a number of companies (Home Depot, Lowes, Next Day Blinds, etc.) The quality just wasn't there. By luck we found Perfect Fit Shutters. We went to the store and saw all of our options. It was so nice to see all of our options, materials, colors, etc. laid out on windows as opposed to the 2 x 3 ft samples we saw elsewhere. We sat down with the woman and she helped us choose what was best for our home. We scheduled a in home measuring. He was right on time. Perfect fit makes the shutters right in their own factory in Gaithersburg, so you know you are getting a good quality. We had our shutters installed 2 weeks in advance of the original installation date. We couldn't be happier. It has been over 6 months and we have gotten so many compliments on them. They are on customer windows (floor to ceiling windows basically) and give the room such a clean open feel. Both are in direct sunlight and stay so nicely. Mary (I believe was her name) then came out to show us samples and take initial measurements. To confirm things, an installer came out to verify all measurements and the style, etc that we had chosen. Lastly, the installers were quick, efficient, and did an AMAZING job. These are custom made in Maryland. These aren't ordered to the closest size from Hunter Douglas or some other vendor then made to fit. They are literally a "perfect fit", and I can't explain how beautiful the installation is and what a difference it's made in the comfort, privacy, and beauty of our home. We are so happy with the 8 shutters we had installed that we are getting 4 more for our 2nd story family room windows. These shutters are not cheap, and I cringe when I think about how much we've spent and are looking to spend again. However, these are solid wood, custom-made shutters that instantly increased the value of our home. They've been a great investment with no regrets whatsoever...besides not getting the other 4 windows done the first time! At the last moment, I wished that I had my designer with me when the rep came to measure and help me decide which type shutter to get, but I was immediately put at ease, realizing that I was dealing with a super professional. He suggested a certain size (there are different sizes) of the shutter plank or blade or whatever it is called, and style (my home is traditional), and then went to work measuring each window. He even asked for the name of the paint that we had used for our window trim. I was very pleased with the shutters themselves and the perfection of the installation, and later wound up ordering for nearly all our other windows. I'm 100% pleased with the entire product and process. I also had them measure, order and install a solar roller shade for my kitchen windows, and am extremely pleased with the results. An excellent experience from start to finish. We were looking for multiple indoor shutters for interior of our bedroom windows - 3 of which were oddly shaped (different triangular shapes). Responsive from the start, Archi, my point of contact was totally on the ball, and they saved a potentially time wasting initial visit by having me do a rough measure (actually pretty accurate as it turns out, I brag) and provided me with an estimated cost. The owner himself then came to measure. Was friendly, professional and gave one confidence. The price did not change from their original estimate, and they threw in new window handle replacements for free. The date for installation was as they initially predicted (and they moved that date readily to accommodate me). The installers arrived 10 minutes into the 1 hr arrival slot. Got to work immediately.
