EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES…read more I will never buy any product or services from Aleen's again. This is what happened: I called Alleen's College Park for a full service custom blind experience. Sonia showed up to measure two windows and show me fabric and options for the Hunter Douglas honeycomb blinds. The fabric choices were easy to make and matched the decor perfectly. I gave her a $1000 deposit on a 2395$ quote on Jan 10, 2014. Sonia informed that it would be 3-4 weeks, and shouldn't be delayed because this is not a busy season. The blinds arrived and a time was scheduled. I had to call Sonia to follow up to ensure the installer was still making the appointment half way through as I had not heard from him. He ended up being 3 hours late but I agreed to wait. He installed the non motorized blind successfully and went to install the motorized one, and it was not in working order. I called Sonia, who gave me the low down on their repair process, and when I questioned her about inspecting the product before it leaving their shop, she indicated to me that it was Hunter Douglas responsibility to ensure their product was quality inspected. But here I am paying Alleens to install a finished product. I am buying a service and product from them. The complete lack of business ownership shown by Sonia, Margareta and Melanie was overwhelming. The blind came back from repair and was installed - however the time and frustration that this experience has given me was beyond acceptable. No one who I spoke with from Alleens apologized for their mistakes. They apologized it happened, and blamed it on the manufacturer and the fact it was a custom product. I would assume that if you are selling custom luxury products - you are selling the experience that goes with it. If you buy from Alleens - you better hope that nothing goes wrong ... It's was a tremendously frustrating experience when the culture from the top down shows blatant disregard for the time of the customer - and only about their bottom line.

Except when I actually had my motorized blinds die from dead batteries, I decided to make use of the offer and it turns out to be the most minimal of efforts. =\ Turns out, all this goodwill gesture was, was for for someone to come and take out the battery holder that's at the top of the blinds and put batteries (that I would have to purchase myself) into the battery holder and slide it back in. And that's it. I literally did it myself in 2 mins after I watched some youtube videos (before, when I called about this complimentary service call, I forgot that the battery holder could only be seen if I lifted the blinds all the way up so I thought it was more of an ordeal to change the batteries). Anyhow, while I had thought it was a decent offer (like a battery change but includes batteries!), it ended up being a pretty useless makegood attempt. It's more effort to coordinate a service call than it is to youtube a how-to video and do it yourself.

I've always wanted to have California / Plantation interior shutters, so I started to do my…read moreresearch online. After visiting hundreds of websites, sending countless emails, and visiting many stores and manufacturing facilities, I decided that I specifically wanted a more premium product: Eclipse Shutters. The cheaper looking aesthetic and lower quality construction of other competitor products simply did not compare. From there, I emailed every major Eclipse Shutters dealer in our area and waited for responses. I quickly learned that there are 2 different methods in how most respond: some provide you with a proper preliminary quote (Yes! Thank you!) and others do the equivalent of a sky-high initial number with the buy-now-and-save-huge tactic (I'm not a fan of this method at all). As you can tell, I am quite particular and had a very specific aesthetic that I was aiming for. Thankfully, I found Kamfair Drapes and they were perfect from beginning to end! Jennifer responded quickly, professionally, and answered my countless questions (even the questions that drilled down into the smallest details). Plus, Jennifer's quotations were clear, transparent, and included check and measure and taxes (as opposed to many others who didn't even mention that check and measure was separate and additional until after I asked for clarification: sneaky!). After a few emails back and forth, my wife and I did an initial visit to Kamfair Drape's Markham showroom and liked that they had a larger assortment and display section of Eclipse Shutters available to see, feel, and try. (Most other shops we visited were disappointing as they only had one small section or panel to see in-person, which made it harder to visualize what things might look like in our own home.) Once our aging windows were replaced, Jennifer came to our home to complete some initial measurements. She arrived on-time and was very knowledgable. She told us the different pros and cons of each option and showed us what would work best in our different spaces. Once the specifications were decided upon, Andrew came to do the final check-and-measure and it was great hearing his additional insight, plan of action, and care for his clients through the different generations of this family owned-and-operated business. A few weeks later, Andrew returned with all of the shutter panels and installation hardware. He brought tarps to cover the floor and had disposable booties to cover his shoes, which we appreciated. One of the concerns I had early on was that our new window sills were made of vinyl (instead of wood), which meant that they might not support as much weight and that no mistakes could be made (as you can't redo it like you can on wood). I was happy with Andrew's patience, expertise, and attention to detail in ensuring that everything was done correctly the first time and with minimal mess. Long story short, we reached out to many different Eclipse Shutters dealers in the GTA and Kamfair Drapes was definitely the most helpful, knowledgeable, straight-forward, and friendly! We would (and already have) recommend Jennifer and Andrew of Kamfair Drapes to anyone looking for window coverings.

I picked this place based on the good reviews on google map. It's great that some people have had…read moregood experiences with them but mine was different: Our project was to remove water-damaged flooring and install new double-glued down hardwood in a two-bedroom condo apartment. The contractor they sent to complete the job was horrible. The final flooring that he rushed to deliver has so many bumps, gaps and glue marks everywhere. Of course, I contacted the company to see if the fix them. The owner, Aftab, showed up at our apartment himself. At first, he denied the bumps and glue marks but then agreed to fix one bump only. He left a glue remover and filler for us to remove glue marks and fill the gaps ourselves (how professional!) The area that they fixed became even worse than before. They visited two more times but couldn't make it any better. The last contractor told me that the first installer haven't done a good job leveling the concrete under. As a matter of fact, he had used a scraper to remove the old flooring and damaged the concrete and instead of using a self-lever before installing new flooring, he used cement to patch the damaged spots. Anyhow, we never paid the remaining 10% set aside for satisfaction but the damage to our apartment is well beyond that. We need to re-do the whole thing. I'm going to follow up the case in Ontario's small claim court and I know it is going to take a lot of my time but that's the path I have chosen. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them, if you can. Or if you want to work with them, ask them to show you our apartment on Bayview and Sheppard (St. Gabriel Village buildings).
