After my original review, I did get a call from Melanie and she offered me a battery change for my motorized blinds, which is nice. Except when I actually had my motorized blinds die from dead batteries, I decided to make use of the offer and it turns out to be the most minimal of efforts. =\ Turns out, all this goodwill gesture was, was for for someone to come and take out the battery holder that's at the top of the blinds and put batteries (that I would have to purchase myself) into the battery holder and slide it back in. And that's it. I literally did it myself in 2 mins after I watched some youtube videos (before, when I called about this complimentary service call, I forgot that the battery holder could only be seen if I lifted the blinds all the way up so I thought it was more of an ordeal to change the batteries). Anyhow, while I had thought it was a decent offer (like a battery change but includes batteries!), it ended up being a pretty useless makegood attempt. It's more effort to coordinate a service call than it is to youtube a how-to video and do it yourself. read more

EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES I will never buy any product or services from Aleen's again. This is what happened: I called Alleen's College Park for a full service custom blind experience. Sonia showed up to measure two windows and show me fabric and options for the Hunter Douglas honeycomb blinds. The fabric choices were easy to make and matched the decor perfectly. I gave her a $1000 deposit on a 2395$ quote on Jan 10, 2014. Sonia informed that it would be 3-4 weeks, and shouldn't be delayed because this is not a busy season. The blinds arrived and a time was scheduled. I had to call Sonia to follow up to ensure the installer was still making the appointment half way through as I had not heard from him. He ended up being 3 hours late but I agreed to wait. He installed the non motorized blind successfully and went to install the motorized one, and it was not in working order. I called Sonia, who gave me the low down on their repair process, and when I questioned her about inspecting the product before it leaving their shop, she indicated to me that it was Hunter Douglas responsibility to ensure their product was quality inspected. But here I am paying Alleens to install a finished product. I am buying a service and product from them. The complete lack of business ownership shown by Sonia, Margareta and Melanie was overwhelming. The blind came back from repair and was installed - however the time and frustration that this experience has given me was beyond acceptable. No one who I spoke with from Alleens apologized for their mistakes. They apologized it happened, and blamed it on the manufacturer and the fact it was a custom product. I would assume that if you are selling custom luxury products - you are selling the experience that goes with it. If you buy from Alleens - you better hope that nothing goes wrong ... It's was a tremendously frustrating experience when the culture from the top down shows blatant disregard for the time of the customer - and only about their bottom line. read more

A friend recommended Alleen (Margarita from the College Park store) and, while the blinds look good, the customer service / or complete lack of was very disappointing, considering that the order was over $4.5K. Please read all the reviews posted, too many people have given them bad ratings and it seems that their attitude has not changed at all. I know this is a long story however I wanted to take the time and explain how stressful this experience was, especially considering how much I paid for the final product. I told my friend and our realtor about this and we will make sure that will never use/ recommend this company in the future for any of our projects, it is not worth it. I had numerous issues with my order: - After I placed the order (and paid 50% up-front), the technician came to take accurate measurements. I explicitly asked Margarita to make sure that the technician gives me a call 30 min before arriving to make sure I am ready, however they did not give me any notice, so I had to run back home from the grocery store to meet him. - The order took a long time, I ordered them in December and they arrived late February. I was not in a rush, however I would have expected someone to give me an update on the order, at least once during this time. - When the order arrived, Margarita wanted to schedule the installation the second day, again disregarding my request to give me a few days' notice, to book the service elevator and get all the approvals from my building. - We agreed that the technician will come the following week on Thursday. I explained that I work from home and I have a number of virtual meetings during the day, therefore I asked to schedule the installation on Thursday, 2-4pm. However, the technician arrived 2 days in advance, on Tuesday at 12pm, knocking on my door while I was on a work call. This messed-up up my afternoon meetings, significantly interfering with my work. - The technician explained that he was instructed to come on Tuesday. - In addition to the bad planning, there were additional issues with the blinds: they forgot to deliver one box for my balcony door, one of the bedroom blinds had incorrect measurements and the other one had the chain on the opposite side. Due to all these issues, the technician mentioned that he has to talk to Margarita and come again. - Considering all the issues above, I was expecting a call from Margarita to explain what happened and maybe to apologize for these mistakes. She did nothing and I sent her a message on Tuesday night asking what they are going to do about all the issues. She finally called me on Wednesday afternoon and told me that the technician is going to come the following day, on Thursday. I was expecting at least an apology from her, but nothing, she only said "it will be done tomorrow". Plus, she tried to put the blame for everything on the technician. - The technician came the second time on Thursday at 1 pm, disturbing my work calls again. And for every visit I had to move some of the furniture before, vacuum after, it was an additional nuisance that I did not need. - He was the only one that apologized for his mistake (inaccurate measurements), nobody else from Alleen said anything. There was no follow up call to ask if everything is fine, if I like them, absolute silence and indifference. read more

I have had nothing but troubl with my blinds from Alleens and certainly do NOT recommend them.. I have been trying to get help from them with my kitchen and dining room blinds for over four months. But to no avail. AND I do not understand the consultant with whom I speak. I do not know what language she is speaking. I certainly need help. read more

Very pleasant experience! I was looking for some basic blinds and curtains for my new condo. Alleen's was highly recommended to me by several friends. They gave me honest advice, good price and fast delivery: everything was in in 3 weeks! I was impressed with Danika's help: she didn't push just to sell and really went out of her way to rush my order. Overall, I'm a happy camper. Roll up blinds look great. Their installer put them up fast and Danika even called me a week later to check in with everything. I'd definitely refer my friends for new blinds. read more

We selected Alleen to make the custom drapes for 2 bedrooms and our office. We were very pleased with one bedroom and the office, but the master bedroom and closet were an unmitigated disaster. They now want me to pay for their mistakes, saying the their labour charges have increased and expecting me to pay to replace the blind that never worked from the day it was installed and now will no longer match the drapes for the bedroom due to their poor guidance. I'm disappointed in their customer service, especially given how expensive this order was. read more

We are a third generation Alleen's customers I was just a little boy when they were doing my grandparents place,ever since then my mother has only used them and when we got our first place it was the only choice after thirty years they are very up to date .and service is great .as with any custom made products we have had adjustment problems but this people have come through without costing us a penny .the suggestion that they use has always been just what we needed .prices have been very reasonable .other than we being happy all we get is complements From everyone. Alleen's really is as good as it gets. I am especially fussy, an eternal cynic, have no faith in "customer service" but boy, did Alleens ever change all that! They were incredibly accommodating, communicative, offered unsurpassed service, completed a fantastic job, not to mention weeks before scheduled date.
