TLDR- If you're like me- maybe you're aging, or pregnant, or have a health condition- I would save yourself the dehumanizing experience I spent a long time considering whether to leave this review, because I'm sure my stylist was just tired. But I think there are things that should be learned from my experience- and that people like me might not want an experience like mine. I have a health disorder. I go through flares where I lose a massive amount of hair. If anyone has gone through something similar, they'll know it can be quite humbling. I've been afraid to go to the salon for a few months because I look in the mirror and feel like less of a woman, but I worked up the bravery and went. Right away my stylist seemed annoyed that my appointment was later in the day. (I still arrived early) When I expressed that I needed help removing the dead hair, she got very irritable and made multiple comments like "I'm not a miracle worker" and "well I don't know what you expect me to do with... all this." I tried to laugh it off, because I really didn't want to further upset her while she was actively trimming. It didn't matter. She continued to be annoyed with me for having damaged, thinning hair my entire appointment. She took a LOT of length (went from mid back to above my shoulders) and when I made a comment about it looking healthier this way (trying to make the most of a sad situation for myself) she made sure I understood that it clearly wasn't healthy and she could take even more. She spent an hour reaffirming the worst things I already felt about my appearance. That my hair was ugly and inconvenient and a lost cause. If you're like me- maybe you're aging, or pregnant, or have a health condition- I would save yourself the dehumanizing experience. read more

Not False review just late. This was done almost one year. Wife did not want to go back she was so upset and crying. It's ok just want you to be aware. Her long hair was cut off. I went in today expecting to lose significant length and spend a pretty penny for a salon quality cut to my very damaged ends. I don't know what kind of sorceress Abigail is but she worked some real magic on my hair. No heat, no color treatment; just a wash, cut, and blow dry and it made a world of difference. She was so sweet and knowledgable and the studio was lovely. Somehow my hair looks longer and fuller after the cut and it was so affordable. I always dread getting my hair cut because I love having it long but now I can't wait to go back. read more

I planned for this day for almost two years. I stopped using permanent color to cover my grey, used semi instead. Conditioned deeply and frequently. I wanted to transition to my natural color. The consultation seemed more than hopeful. All in all, It was not successful. I get it. But, I had expected more from a high profile salon. My desire that I conveyed was simple, I have a lot of grey on top, dark on bottom, I want to blend so I don't look like a skunk. I showed sample pictures. I left with ashy brown I suppose? At least it wasn't orange. The communication was a real issue as even though I clearly stated what I was going after, as I repeated my desired outcome as I was leaving she seemed as though I had never said it. I paid a good bit for this endeavor, monetarily and emotionally. I was offered a drink and was served water in a styrofoam cup that had a powder residue on it, maybe bleaching powder?? I'm not sure how the other clients were able to get the special treatment having their drinks served in pretty glasses but it was not my experience. And, as sweet as my stylist's dog was, I do think it was quite a distraction for her as she continuously had to go tend to it. Im not a complainer, I knew it was a waste of a day, but I did take the chair for 7 hours. I paid my bill, I tipped her 20%, because it is my philosophy to always give more than what is taken. I walked away not having compromised my character but incredibly disappointed. Hospitality is a big deal to me. Communication is a big deal to me. I won't go back. read more

I had a brazilian blowout in this salon and I'd say it was a good experience! Tiara was very patient and nice. She did a great job with my hair. It's also nice to know that they offer this service in this season which I know it's more common during the summer when it's humid. But asian hair don't care, they frizz all year round! Thanks bliss! The salon is clean and all employees and stylists were very friendly... but my cut itself was just disappointing. All I asked for was some length off, enough to get rid of all the split ends, and some layers since my hair was all one length. Well, it's still one length and still has a ton of split ends. I showed my stylist a picture of what I wanted so I don't know where the disconnect was. It also didn't help that she cut and styled my hair with me facing away from the mirror so I couldn't tell what was going on. This salon was recommended to me and others seemed to have great experiences, maybe mine was a rare occurrence. read more

My husband, our 2 kids, and I recently moved from Brooklyn, NYC, to Roanoke Virginia. I usually do my daughters hair and my own unless we are in NYC. I have a full head of hair that is coily, curly, and it never seems to do what I want it to. I used google to help me find a person who specializes in doing curly hair, so I would be happy with the results. ABBY IS A ROCKSTAR- I WAS SO SURPRISED when Abby stated talking to me. She is so KNOWLEDGEABLE (A CURLY HAIR SPECIALIST - TO MY SURPRISE YAY) having Abby take care of my hair, its like having my OWN HAIR DOCTOR. Abby was going to teach me how to take care of it in its curly state, but I chose to have it straightened. I think I will opt for me to be taught how to take proper care of my curly hair so that (JUST MAYBE I WILL BE HAPPY WITH MY HAIR) I prefer straight hair ( I have crazy curls & I always wanted straight hair with bounce - THAT IS MY PROBLEM - I have never been happy with my (CURLY HAIR) the results of someone styling my hair in its natural state. For myself, my curls are either too tight (making them too short).I have always adored my hair straight & the length I have worked so long for, I stopped putting straight perms in my hair now 2 years, and now it is HEALTHY Abby cut the reat of the perms out yay. I believe all of my hair that was staright permed was cut off. I will update next time. If you have hair, especially Curly (or staight because it is not that difficult to do for someone who is a curl specialist. I am transitioning and in the process of moving to Roanoke. I needed to get my hair cut. After looking at reviews of many different salons I decided to give Bliss a chance. My stylist was Kristin Rowell. She did a fantastic job! She gave me a cut, stacked bob, that my family thought was one of the best cuts I had ever received. She was very pleasant and listened to my description of how I wanted my hair to look. I will definitely use this salon again, Kristen in particular. This salon has great hair stylist HOWEVER the salon has horrible business management! I honestly feel bad for the skilled stylist there because the business management is going to run all of their customers away screaming. My first appointment went smooth, no problems. My second appointment was canceled (Saturday appointment) because my stylist called out. They could not reschedule my appointment for two weeks and then could only offer me the most junior stylist at 6:00 PM in the middle of the week. The third appointment I booked several weeks out and I was told that they might not have time to cut my hair after the color. WHAT? WHO DOES THAT? So I took off from work early as they suggested. The day before my appointment I received a call confirming my color and no cut. They told me that they booked an appointment before mine that would now disallow me to come in at the earlier time that THEY suggested. Made an appointment with Bliss, three weeks out for a balayage. After the appointment was booked, I never received a call, text, or email confirmation for the appointment, which was scheduled for 11am. I even called back a week before my appointment to confirm that it was at 11am on the day I scheduled with the stylist, that was the only way I was confirmed the appointment. The day of the appointment, I received a call at 10:12am saying my appointment was at 10am and I was late. I apologized and said I scheduled for 11am and I'm sure of that, but I even offered to be at the salon in less than 10 minutes (because of how close I lived) and they decided to reschedule a 3-hr appointment for getting the time wrong and it only being 10 minutes past the hour. They took my deposit and I had to speak to 3 different people to cancel my rescheduled appointment. It was very frustrating and I feel like I was robbed of my money.
