I've been reading-up on backcountry skis for a few seasons now, trying to assemble the gear I need…read morewithout going broke. Last Friday I was up in Tahoe, and Tahoe Gear Exchange had what seemed like a good deal, so I bought the bundle: skis, bindings and skins. A week later, here are my thoughts: 1. Both employees were nice, and low-key. The guy called over his coworker, saying that she would know more about the bindings, and she did. 2. The guy soon had to punch-out, and the woman was handling all customers, AND prepping to close. She did a great job doing both. Since buying the equipment, I've learned that it's a great ski for what I need, and a great binding for what I need. It's not this consignment shop's job to carry just equipment for beginners, or just equipment for experts, but my visit worked out great. Thanks Tahoe Gear Exchange! PS - The shop reminded me that everything for sale was displayed on their e-commerce site. That's a reminder to A) look online, and B) to not screw-around if you like something. You could have it in your hands, and someone a hundred miles away could buy it before you committed at the register...

I called a few stores prior Showcase, all of which didn't have the replacement part I needed in stock. I called Showcase, in which Rachel happily helped me by searching inventory to double check that it would be compatible instead of just telling me to bring my board in (as some other stores did). She offered to put it on hold for me until I came in :) Once I came in, she offered to help replace it for me and gave me some tips about the strap placement as well in accordance to my boot position. I really appreciated that she proactively checked that it would work with my boots as well by asking what size I was. The price was also reasonable with no labor included so I was stoked I wouldn't need to buy new bindings. Super super helpful and kind - thank you!

Not only that but when the mountain was closed because of all the snow he allowed us to keep the boards for the next day!! If you still don't believe how much this guy really cares about the customer- pay attention to this. We were on our way back to south lake Tahoe from Palisades to return our rentals to the shop. 9 miles away from town, me and my friends got into a super bad accident right at the end of the tunnel near cave rock. Once I had called the shop to tell him what had happened he immediately was shocked and asking us if we were okay! He said he was willing to stay longer (after close) if needed and said to call back in 20ish minutes for an update. I called him back with the unfortunate news that our car was unable to start and that we wouldn't be able to return the rentals that day. The owner of the shop wasn't upset and told me that if the boards got sent with the car when it gets impounded that he won't ever see those boards again. (Valid point for sure) He didn't mention us having to pay or anything. He then immediately brainstormed and came up with an idea to call the hotel next to his business and see if they can hold our rentals if we were to drop them off. I gave him my number and once he got it confirmed with the hotel he called me, and later that night we dropped off the rentals at the hotel and he picked them up the next morning. He made sure to finish the phone call saying don't worry about anything i'm just glad everyone is okay. YOU CAN'T GET A BETTER OWNER THAN THIS!!! We are in debt to this kind gentleman so please! please! stop by his shop and show him some love!! Also the boards and gear were amazing. We had such a good time on the slopes!
