That one-hour drive has been 100% worth it ever since! They've handled several complex dental issues for me that other dentists struggled with--especially when it came to achieving outstanding cosmetic results. The work is always precise, natural-looking, and done with genuine care for both function and appearance. I've never felt rushed or like just another patient; they truly listen and tailor everything to what works best for me. The entire team is exceptional. Dr. Rosen is incredibly skilled, knowledgeable, and has a calm, reassuring manner that puts you at ease. Amanda and Jeanie are absolute standouts--warm, attentive, and so good at what they do. The front office staff is equally friendly and efficient; they make scheduling and check-ins a breeze. Despite the distance, I'll keep coming back because Wauwatosa Dental Arts simply offers the best dental experience out there. If you're looking for top-tier care, especially for cosmetic or challenging cases, this is the place. Highly recommend--5 stars aren't enough! Thanks to the whole team for taking such great care of me all these years!

After doing some research on Yelp and beyond, we decided to give Elmbrook General Dentistry a try. I'm so glad we did! I was the first to go and had such a positive experience. My dentist and hygienist are both incredibly caring and kind. Everyone, from the folks at the front desk to the hygienists to the dentists themselves work to make this a warm and welcoming environment. Since then, my husband, son, and both my parents have begun coming here. And, all with the same rave reports. Between us all, we've seen three different dentists and we've all been incredibly pleased with the care we've received. They also have an in house periodontist, which is helpful if the need should arise (rather than having to navigate going to an entirely different office). I've met him and he's incredibly warm and kind as well. Zero complaints with our experience here and would recommend without reservation.

I then tried another dentist (name rhymes with floss) and was extremely dissatisfied! I finally ended up at Elmbrook and have been amazed by the experience. Where as the last dentist was in a hurry to get you in and out as fast as possible, I did not in any way feel rushed at Elmbrook. Quite the contrary. Everyone that worked on my teeth were pleasant, caring and professional. My hygienist Carrie did a wonderful job getting my teeth back in proper shape after the inadequate cleanings at the past two dentist had resulted in significant tartar buildup. Dr Plecas and his assistant Rachael did an excellent job on filing two cavities and installing a crown. The amount of time spent on just color matching the crown, for a tooth in the back of my mouth, stood in stark contrast to my experience at the previous dentist. Literally everyone at Elmbrook including the receptionists strive to make your experience as pleasant as possible. I strongly recommend Elmbrook to anyone looking for a dentist. Even if you are satisfied with your current dental care, I believe that the level of service and technology at Elmbrook is worth making the change.

The practice used false-color images of my teeth to try and convince me that a patch on the rear of an upper molar needed to be removed due to decay and a crown put in its place. (An expensive procedure not fully covered by my insurance, even 'in-network'.) My first appointment with my new dentist confirmed that there is no actual decay, and that the removing the patch is not necessary...at least not yet. Furthermore, the dentists are not respectful of my hearing disability. My instructions to them of what to do to ensure accurate communication--how to speak to me during procedures when my hearing aids are out--were frequently ignored. It is not acceptable to respond to hearing impaired persons by saying things like: "Don't worry...," "It's OK...," or "...not important." Individuals with hearing disabilities are not to be treated like children. This practice functions like a "dental procedure factory," and I would look around before engaging them as your dentist.

Doctor and staff are super nice and friendly. They know what papers I had to fill out for my insurance. They gave me a lot of takeaway gifts. Clinic is nice and clean. The building is relatively small (but not cramped) and completely updated to look like a modern, inviting home. The feeling of home is echoed in the friendliness of each and every staff member. All of them are polite, professional, and friendly. Considering a dentist's office is the LAST place you want to be they definitely go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. Both doctor and tech were open about each step without being intimidating. They are genuinely concerned for your comfort and conduct themselves effectively without being heavy handed. Booking an appointment is great. They send email confirmations with calendar entries for convenience. Rescheduling is a breeze. After leaving from a tooth extraction I was unexpectedly given a "gift from the tooth fairy" which included a custom thank you card and a gift certificate for a treat. The finishing touches were amazing on what was already a pleasant visit. Could not recommend them enough.

My final test is whether or not Dr. Blair makes referrals to other very good dentists. I need restorative work so she referred me to a periodontist. I am impressed. She sent me to a good one. If she makes good referrals my trust in her skyrockets. There is a ramp out front and the restroom is handicapped accessible. Looks to be wide enough for a wheelchair user too. I had a miserable experience with the first dentist I found when I moved to this part of town. I am so glad I now have a dentist who I can send friends and family to. No hesitation at all.

My family has…read morebeen very happy with Elmbrook Family Dental for 20+ years, starting when Dr. Brunner was just a kid! I recently completed a tooth implant process that took several months (remove 40-year old crown, bone graft, wait for that to heal, implant post, wait for that to heal, implant!). The whole process was about as painless as it could possibly be. One of the things I like best about Elmbrook Family Dental is that they explain things clearly -- throughout the process Dr. Plecas explained each step, what the options were, what he thought the best option would be, and why. Knowing about the bone graft was especially important to me, and seeing what the part of the implant would be and how it all went together was cool. I was initially concerned because my son's wedding was coming up, and I didn't want to have a big hole in my mouth for pictures. Dr. Plecas discussed options with me -- the full process wouldn't be complete before the wedding. If I wanted, we could have gotten a temporary fake tooth there, but he thought I should wait and see how it looked. Once the tooth was removed I found that the space wasn't very noticeable at all. I'm very glad that I didn't spend the extra money on a temporary tooth! It feels like we know everyone there - we've been there for years, and at times we had six family members going. My older kids only stopped going there when they totally left the area; while they were in college out of state they still went to Elmbrook Family Dental, scheduling appointments around their breaks. One of the other things I like about Elmbrook Family Dental is that they keep up with processes, technology, and materials.

It's a hard sell for TMJ services with every appointment. Cost for TMJ services: Assessment $650 and treatment $5400-6500 (services weren't clarified) with payment required upfront. He says he uses a third-party to maximize insurance payout and after that is received, he would refund anything that insurance covers. When I asked what patients do when they can't afford this treatment, he became defensive and explained that he couldn't provide services for free (which I wouldn't expect). I found a local (TMJ & Orofacial Pain Treatment Center) doctor who is excellent, fitted me with a night guard for under $200, and that has very clear patient costs for services after insurance, and charges much less overall.

I had some old issues that I'd neglected to have taken care of and Dr. Allmann did a great job with all of them. Scheduling was super easy and my appointment went very smoothly. Little to no wait time once I got to the office. P.S if you're looking to get a crown done, definitely come here. They do in-house, same day crowns, which I thought was awesome (as opposed to sending out a mold and waiting two weeks for the crown to come back).

Cons: they don't accept all insurance. And since they have their own lab, they like to wait for little problems to get big enough to justify a crown (rather than manage little problems more conservatively with fillings). They've invested in the lab, so naturally they want to do crowns - sort of a specialty, and the crowns I have gotten from them are very nice - function is great, as well as aesthetics. But my new dentist has pointed out a bunch of little cavities that can be filled right now. This approach should save me money as well as time in the dentist's chair, by postponing (maybe even eliminating) the need for a crown. Bottom line: if they accept your insurance, and you really do need a crown ... go to Tosa Dental; you will be very happy with their work. But if you would rather try to deal with issues earlier when they are smaller, there are other dental practices that do take a more conservative approach.
