Do Not Use! We had been using Michelle Douglas for years as our tax preparer/CPA when she was part of Charles Vonderhaar's office. That office was acquired by Block Advisors. When we went to drop our taxes off we were informed that by the Office Manager Michelle Johnston, that Michelle Douglas was no longer there but they would gladly take care of our taxes. I explained that we were working with the IRS on some penalties due to the sale of some properties and we needed them filed by 3/31/26 (giving them 6 weeks to get it done). She said no problem and reassured me that we were good. As the deadline approached, my wife and I reached out to check the status. Over a 3 week period we left a dozen voicemails and none were returned. We finally left one that demanded our taxes back so we could take them elsewhere as we were now past our deadline. That voicemail was returned by the receptionist (which means the others were heard as well) and told us we could come get our paperwork/taxes. We expressed our outrage that nothing has been done in 6 weeks and no message had been returned and there was no communication. The receptionist told me they are busy and we can't expect them to answer the calls or return messages. Just a shameful business. Will never use again and will never recommend them to any of our friends, family, and business network. read more

I highly suggest not using block advisors of any kind. I am a trans person who is self employed and as such, I prefer to use a tax advisor to file. I have been using Block Advisors for the last three years and have come to find that I turned in my taxes 3 times with these people, only for it to have not been filed the last two years. Even though my tax specialist, Carol, assured me they have been filed. The IRS website says otherwise. The receptionist has been nothing but curt with me and I've been met with absolute disrespect and frankly, discrimination. After the headache of trying to communicate with these people, I've come to find out that they no longer have any of the files I gave them to rectify this situation and they refuse to communicate with me over the phone or by email. When I went to a different location for help, the woman who helped me was then unable to help me due to health conditions and two weeks later, referred me to a different tax advisor. If two tax advisors can't help me...why would I go to a third at your firm when you're the ones who have made this mess in the first place? read more

It you're seeking a great tax preparer, go to Harriet Smith at H&R. I've been a customer of H&R for 8 years, but almost went elsewhere this year since I've had such terrible experiences for the past two years. I read the above review recommending Harriet specifically for 'complicated taxes' (I split time between two states, single parent, etc.) and decided to see her. Harriet was awesome - both the first time I met with her and the second time when I needed an amendment (my mistake, not Harriet's). She is bubbly, fun, and enthusiastic about taxes (crazy!), and most importantly, she knows her tax stuff. She figured out a solution to my tax issue that neither another location and a former tax law professor didn't know. Worth the cost to know my taxes are getting filed correctly and that I don't have to dread the experience. read more

We are repeat customers for Harriett, a tax preparer in this office, and for a good reason. She is clearly knowledgable, and makes doing your takes slightly less painful. I fell in love with her when she said, "Oh! I donate to all of these places too!" The only downside is that she's pricey, but oh so worth it if you have complicated taxes. We have a rental property which makes ours a nightmare, and she walks us though the whole process. She's well worth the money for the audit protection as well. If you have easy taxes it probably isn't worth the cost, but definitely ask for her if you need someone with more experience! read more

I have had two bad experiences at Block Advisors, and I haven't actually even met with anyone there. The first was at the Harper's Point location, where I called and scheduled an appointment, showed up to my scheduled appointment, and the location was closed that day. I left, figuring I would just reschedule. I scheduled an appointment online for this location in Kenwood, at an office building on Hosbrook Rd. My appointment was at 10 AM. I arrived promptly at 10, found the office which was clearly marked (this is a suite in a large office building) and tried the door, which was locked. I tried the door multiple times, and knocked, with no response. I waited around for a few minutes, and then called their number. I could hear the phone ringing in the office, which was not answered, and it went to a main office. I explained that I was at the office and no one was there, and the person on the phone was able to look up my appointment and offered to reschedule. I declined, hung up, tried the door again to no avail, and left. at 11:10, the woman I was scheduled with called me. She stated that the door does not unlock all the way sometimes, and said she was there. I told her that I had tried knocking and calling also, and heard the phone ringing inside with no answer. She asked if there was anything she could do for me. Not at that point. I will be going somewhere else. read more
