Her time isn't cheap but with how much experience she has in the field, her charges were far more reasonable than the other businesses I researched. My evaluation of certain "complaints" is that people are unrealistic and don't understand that utilizing a certified accountant is no different than using a lawyer. They have to go through extensive training and certifications, they have to know tax laws and procedures, not only for the states they are in but any other state a client needs to pay taxes in. If you want your taxes done right and by a certified accountant, than it isn't going to be cheap. It isn't meant to be a "drive-thru" . Especially when you compare it to quickie "tax services" like HR block, which even thought they label themselves "tax professionals" doesn't mean they are an accountant. Also if someone's taxes were really so simple than why didn't they go the absolute cheapest route and use turbo tax to start with. Would you seek out a lawyer if you were just paying a parking ticket?

What is "accountant attitude" - it's where they listen to your issues and then treat you like you are **also** a CPA. They assume you understand all terms, know what each arcane IRS form is called, and understand complex tax law. When you don't know answers, you get the exasperated fumbling, kvetching, uncertainty... and it becomes CRYSTAL clear they do not want to work with you. Right there on the phone call as they're explaining how they will "call back soon", you know you're never hearing from them again. My advice? If you have anything more complex than a 1099-EZ,, go elsewhere.
