Is there anything better than mimosa's and bloody mary's at brunch? I'm so glad I was told about this place (which used to be Jekyll and Hyde) because when one has to celebrate a birthday you should definitely do it with a mimosa in your hand. Although due to the fact that some antibiotics are not allowed to be mixed with alcohol I had to be content to drink my virgin mimosa (orange juice which the wonderful staff put in a champagne glass for me!) For a busy Sunday morning the staff were all too happy to reserve a large table for me and my friends and let us sit there well after we finished eating and drinking (and let us bring our own cake as well). Blood Mary's has a great all day breakfast menu which is just different enough to other places for the food to be really interesting. I had the Bloody Mary's Breakfast which was toast with avocado, ricotta and tomatoes with extra bacon of course! Delicious! The serving sizes are huge! The ricotta pancakes also looked amazing as did the Hangover Cure which is a fancier version of a big breakfast you'd find at other cafes (fancy because they use chorizo). The only disappointing dish was the chicken finger sandwiches which one of my party said were a bit bland. What you really want to come here for is the bloody mary's themselves. If you're a fan they have their own menu or you can stick to various other cocktails or wines. They even let you come up to the bar and create your own mix if you want!! The cafe itself is bright and trendy and there's a great outdoor courtyard area for a sunny summer morning/afternoon. The staff are friendly and attentive and go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome in the cafe!

This is called a "bloody hell"... it was just as bloody amazing as it looks, too!

So literally EVERYBODY in Sydney is talking about the crazy, over-the-top bloody marys at Bloody Mary's... and guess what? They're bloody amazing! My bloody mary was perfectly tangy, spicy and awesome in every way. The mini burger and wing were nice too. A word of warning, Bloody Mary's shuts down its kitchen at about 1pm and then they re-open at about 3pm, my friend really talked up their breakfast and that's what she wanted (she says its great), but they had just shut the kitchen for the afternoon. Not a complaint, just something to keep in mind. She did say their coffee is awful, but I guess most people come here for bloody mary's and burgers and what not, so it is what it is. I love the decor! Very cute, whimsical Americana-styling.

Super cute cafe, lovely service, yummy food - absolutely delightful! We chose to sit at the front of the cafe on the super comfy lounge setting and I got to chill out with my legs crossed under me and devour my feed. Fiancé went to hangover cure - highly recommend! (The sausage is delish!) I couldn't decide between the PB & J toastie and the salmon bagel so I had both, both awesome. The coffee is good, there's some interesting people watching, all round, I'm a fan.

Terrible The restaurant looked lovely for a morning brunch. We sat down outside and ordered two cokes with burgers. The coke was one of these fake syrup ones. The burger took ages to arrive and I remember telling my boyfriend "we should have gone to Mac Donald's" Tons of ketchup and mayo inside the burger, too sweet. Not what you expect from a burger in a proper restaurant. Tasteless.

I walk past the bloody Mary's everyday and have always wanted to try it. The vibe is great - nice music playing, comfy seats, backyard or indoor... I got the smoked salmon with poached eggs, avo and sourdough toast. The serving was large - avo just ripe, toasts with a little butter, seasoned tomatoes. The salmon was maybe a little too salty for my taste and 1 egg slightly overcooked. The orange juice is delicious. But I will come back to try something different - maybe in the evening for a drink with a snack. The staff is very nice and effective.

And Boom goes the Dynamite!! This place is amazing, staff so friendly and bloody Mary's for days. If you can't find what you like the menu, you can literally make your own. And a must have would be the oyster shots. From San Francisco on vacation. These Bloody Mary's and food are fantastic.

The bacon and egg roll with a mimosa. Perfect for a hangover on a Tuesday.

Exceptional American style breakfast. Finding a mimosa in Oz is not the easiest thing but this place kills it. Then the bacon and egg roll blew my expectations out of the water. So loaded with bacon I thought I was in heaven. I have not had a breakfast this good in my 3 months of traveling Australia. The service was exceptionally friendly and fast.

Interesting vibe here. I went here around 10:30 for a brunch and it was busy but not too crowded. Nicely decorated and there was even a DJ mixing some tunes! I ordered the pancakes and added chocolate chips (for a $1). So worth it! They gave me a stack of four, very fluffy pancakes. It was really good and I couldn't even finish it all. My friend ordered the bacon and egg roll and found it to be really good but very heavy. The restaurant is mostly inside with 3 or 4 tables outside under the awning.

    Lobster roll.

Ambiance is beautiful, but a tad bit overpriced. I'm American, so I may be biased. The portion size for the lobster roll was too small for $22. All bread and barely any lobster. The service was also just okay and they seemed a bit stuck up. I was sitting for nearly 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. There are tons of other options in this area!

Place is so Damn Good. The Bloody Mary from Hell is worth every Penny. The Bacon and Egg Roll is to Die for. We walked very far to try this place and we are very happy we did. Highly Recommend if you are in Sydney.

We started with a mini martini and goat cheese tart combo that they promoted as a bite while you decide on the menu for the night... very creative idea! We ordered a bunch of plates to share and everything was delicious but the most surprising was the kangaroo dish? As we were visiting Australia we had to order this off the menu but were not expecting it to be a raw dish like tartare. However, we were so pleasantly surprised with the taste! We shared 3 of the desserts and all of them were heavenly! Such a delicious dinner, great service, and some great people watching as well! This was a dinner I will remember for a very long time!!

This was the most highly rated restaurant in Surry Hills, and it exceeded all expectations. I cannot say enough great things about the duck slow cooked in plum sauce. It was perfectly seasoned with a bright, sweet plum glaze-- the meat was so tender that it fell off the bone. This was hands down the most delicious duck dish I have ever eaten. We enjoyed a handful of their appetizers (oyster shooters, mini pancakes with crème fresh, etc), all of which were incredible. Very grateful to our waiter for being so helpful with menu suggestions and accommodating one of the guests with a more complicated food palette. The ambience inside was intimate with low warm lightly. The music was classy and not too loud. Such a beautiful and memorable space.

The first course was termed snacks, and consisted of an oxtail skewer, a mini-crab tart, a slab of country bread, and a couple of pickle slices. We added two optional items to that: a grilled scallop with Nori butter and a Moreton Bay Bug. The two optional items were excellent. I enjoyed the other items as well but wished the oxtail skewer was served hotter. The next course was a sashimi-like preparation of tuna and scallop, served in a tomato water and accompanies by a thin thin flatbread and a horseradish sauce. At this point, we were happy, but when the next course came we crossed from happy into blown away. The main course was lamp rump crusted with a dill and tarragon mix, and served with Hasselback potatoes in a Comte cheese sauce. The lamb was incredibly tender and flavorful. The potatoes were CRAZY good. The photo that looks like croissants were the potatoes - maybe the best potatoes I've ever had. There was also a small tasty salad. At this point, we were getting full, but there was no way we were leaving a morsel of that main course behind. After the main course came a double dessert. One item was creme brulee, served with a fresh blackberry sauce. The other item was termed a petit four but was shaped more like a mini-muffin. It was a hazelnut based pastry served with a cream made of white chocolate and maybe ricotta or mascarpone. Whatever you want to call it, that petit four was unreal. It was SO good that neither of us left a crumb behind, and both of us concluded that we could eat one every day for the rest of our lives. From the name and the information I had about the menu from Instagram and other sources, I expected a very formal "white-table-cloth" atmosphere. Instead, the restaurant itself was small and casual, with half the dinner service provided on small outdoor tables on the sidewalk. That's not a complaint, just not what I expected. All in all, the meal was outstanding. A wonderful way to end a vacation.

Our hotel's concierge suggested we look into breakfast eateries or a bakery at nearby Barangaroo wharf and pointed us two blocks down on Sussex Street, where we stumbled upon Wild Sage. Walking up to their patio dining area, we were greeted by a friendly young man who offered us a choice between patio and indoor seating and provided menus. We chose to dine outdoors to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and cool yet comfortable temperature. After being seated, the young man, brought us glasses of chilled water while we waited for the server to take our morning beverage and breakfast orders. Our cheery server, Marissa, came by shortly after delivering another table's order and we were ready to order right away. FOOD & BEVERAGE: -Sticky Chai Tea: I requested the chai tea as its blend of natural spices with soy milk appealed to me on this slightly chilly morning. As I poured the steamy steeping hot chai tea through the strainer into the glass, its full aromas wafted towards me as I "aerated" or pulled the tea. $8.50 AUD -Proscuitto Toastie: Triple cheese (Gruyere, mozzarella, & scamorza), sliced proscuitto, truffle bechamel, & pickles on soy linseedsourdough. Although we're slightly lactose-intolerant, my husband decided to order this "upscale" ham and cheese sandwich. It was so rich in flavors and textures that he could only eat half the portion even though he was tempted to finish both sandwich halves. Notably, the toasted sourdough's crisp, crunchy, exterior and warm chewy interior tasted of caramelization and nuttiness. Its tangy sourness offered a savory balance to the creamy, slightly nutty and sweet scamorza and mozzarella cheeses. The creamy cheeses balanced the savory saltiness from the proscuitto and Gruyere. $24 AUD -Truffle Mushroom Toast: I selected this open faced toasted sourdough sandwich which was generously topped with roasted mixed mushrooms, confit garlic and truffle butter, thyme, goat cheese, crispy leeks, and poached eggs. The roasted mixed mushrooms flavors were enhanced "just right" with the truffle butter without being overpowered. This vegetarian sandwich was protein-packed, filling, and very flavorful. $26 AUD We took our time over breakfast while discussing our Sydney exploration plans at this clean, bright, and friendly cafe.
